Chapter 373: Chapter 241: A Fierce Dragon Crosses the River (4)

Guan Bao felt like he’d been stabbed in the back, and a sense of unease washed over him.

But Director Duan’s performance had only just begun.

”Next, let’s address the second issue: the lack of updated training equipment for our faculty and their proficiency in using it.”

”Our Medical College now has a pharmacology program, but it severely lacks the conditions for practical training. We don’t even have a basic training lab, and we lack collaborations with domestic pharmaceutical companies.”

”This time, President Wu has another idea: to provide our Medical Experiment Center with a new pharmaceutical R&D training lab. This will be a true university-industry partnership. The lab is, in fact, one of Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company’s own research centers. It will be opened selectively and periodically to our college’s faculty and students, and it will also serve as a base for regular practical training.”

”In this pharmaceutical R&D training lab, the heads of the research and development teams—the chief scientists from Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company and Jin Pharmaceutical Group—will be the ones training our faculty and students.”

”The equipment and instruments in this lab will all be brand new. They’re not just state-of-the-art for our country; they’re among the most advanced in the world!”

”Furthermore, Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company has a great deal of proprietary, patented equipment and medical instruments, all of which will also be available for our faculty and students to study and use.”

”To date, Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company’s R&D labs have developed completely original and improved molecular dynamics models, virtual screening... custom-written tools for the Discovery Studio 3.5-build 3D database...”

”Our faculty and students will even have the opportunity to visit and observe the production lines at the Jin Pharmaceutical Group...”

Listening to this proposal, Guan Bao was completely deflated. This was a whole different level of attack.

’Is it really necessary to go this far for the director position of the Medical Experiment Center? To spend this much money?’

’Just a few sentences, and now he’s talking about investing in another pharmaceutical R&D lab.’

’What leader could possibly resist this? Which official could pass up such a test of their resolve?’

For the two deans, this was political capital—achievements that could lead to promotions.

”Deans, Director Long, Director Guan, it’s the same situation. As long as the college is interested, President Wu has already prepared a draft of the partnership proposal. He can also invite you all for a preliminary tour of the pharmaceutical R&D lab.”

By the time Duan Xingping finished this point, everyone understood that the competition was essentially over. The outcome was all but decided.

To be able to bring in two training labs and such a massive investment... forget about the director position for the Medical Experiment Center. If not for Duan Xingping’s shallow qualifications and low rank, he could probably even vie for a vice dean position with this.

But Duan Xingping showed no signs of stopping. What came next was his key point, and also the most important thing Wu Ting had asked for.

”Next, I’ll address the third and fourth points, which concern the lack of clinical practice and experience for our Medical College’s faculty and students.”

”First, I had the same idea as Director Guan: inviting experts to serve as adjunct lecturers.”

”For the scenario-based pre-hospital emergency care training lab that I’m responsible for, I also plan to invite a frontline clinical expert to teach.”

”The expert I’m inviting is Director Wu Ting, the deputy director of emergency surgery at Fan City First Hospital. Director Wu’s first teaching module will cover pre-hospital emergency care, specifically first-aid measures inside an ambulance and relevant case studies. He will also specifically teach and share techniques and cases related to abdominal paracentesis and managing massive hemorrhage from a ruptured liver.”

Hearing this third point, Guan Bao could finally breathe a little easier.

’Compared to Duan Xingping, I’m only lacking in capital. When it comes to the prestige of the experts and my connections in the medical field, I still have the upper hand.’
