Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 247: Chapter 245: Frenzied Harvest by Burning Experience (81/159)

As the flames on Gu Xi burned brighter, the nearby soldiers also noticed his actions.

However, they didn’t come over to disturb Gu Xi, just watched him as he kept flipping through books.

This time, Gu Xi kept reading non-stop until the flames on him gradually dimmed, at which point he was dragged up by the Grand Knight.

Seeing the overflow of stored experience being directly reset to zero, Gu Xi let out a long sigh.

He was already somewhat unstable, his head was dizzy, and a large amount of knowledge crowded his mind, now in complete chaos, with a constant dinging sound in his ear.

Gu Xi felt as though he was hallucinating.

After dragging Gu Xi to the side, the Grand Knight immediately asked.

”How is it? Are you still okay?”

”I can, just my head feels a bit swollen, like it’s about to explode.”

At this moment, Gu Xi’s mind might not explode, but his skills certainly were.

In that short period, there had been earth-shaking changes in his passive skills bar.

[Passive Skills: Undead Knowledge Level 6, Undead Contract Level 3, Magic Knowledge Level 5, Basic Science Level 4, Basic Reading Level 2, Basic Copying Level 2, Undead Domination Level 3, Enlightenment Level 1, War Machinery Level 1, Dark Knowledge Level 3, Undead Enhancement Level 2, Undead Research Level 2, Soul Whisper Level 2, Corpse Bone Research Level 2, Basic Curse Level 1, Corpse Structure Level 1.]

This certainly solidified Gu Xi’s foundation significantly.

[Undead Knowledge Level 6: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, fundamental skill for an Undead Mage, representing the understanding and mastery of the undead by the Undead Mage.]

This is a basic requirement for every Undead Mage to master, Level 6 is the reading cap and also the basis for unlocking talents, so there’s nothing much to say about it.

[Undead Contract Level 3: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, allows the creation of undead contracts, binding some powerful undead as Contracted Undead under oneself. With the contract in hand, a contracted undead can be resurrected through a ritual after falling in battle, Contracted Undead Quantity +1.]

The Undead Contract is a skill that every Undead Mage must master, there’s no Undead Mage who doesn’t, if you don’t learn this, you’ll lose the contracted undead.

At Level 2, it added a method to resurrect contracted undead through the contract, at Level 3, it added an additional slot for contracted undead.

This time, Gu Xi made quite a gain.

[Undead Domination Level 3: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, increases the chance (15%) of generating special undead during Soul Summoning.]

The goal of Undead Domination is to make Soul Summoning stronger. When summoning skeletons, skeletal soldiers are ordinary undead, while skeletal gunners and skeletal mages are special undead.

For an Undead Mage like Gu Xi who maintains his forces through Soul Summoning, the more special undead, the better.

[Undead Enhancement Level 2: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, raises undead level to Level 2 during Soul Summoning.]

This skill doesn’t need much explanation, even someone who isn’t an Undead Mage knows how to choose, whether it’s a Level 0 skeleton or a Level 2 skeleton makes a big difference.

If Undead Enhancement reaches directly to Level 7, the summoned are all powerful Level 7 skeletal soldiers.

Turning around to fight only Level 1 trash troops, killing a round could produce a powerful army, this is what is truly called a Skeleton Sea.

[Undead Research Level 2: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, allows research into undead to develop different undead modification methods.]

Gu Xi had heard of this before, but had never mastered it since he wasn’t on this path as a player.

Among Undead Mages, there’s a type that follows the undead modification route, like the Sewn Monster, pieced-together Bone Dragon, which they researched out, and to go down this path, the prerequisite is mastering Undead Research.

Otherwise, don’t even mention modification, even if modified undead are placed before you, you wouldn’t know how to use them.

[Soul Whisper Level 2: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, enables communication with souls to gain recognition from souls and undead.]

This skill is considered a prerequisite for another path, those going for Soul Control must master Soul Whisper. There are also rumors that mastery of Soul Whisper opens up the chance to grasp the Death Lord from the Three Divine Skills.

This point has never been verified as no one has succeeded, so Gu Xi doesn’t know if it’s true.

[Corpse Bone Research Level 2: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, all skills requiring corpses like Bone Shield, Corpse Explosion have their power increased by 50%.]

Corpse Bone Research is an auxiliary add-on skill used to enhance the power of a certain skill.

It’s evident that as long as a skill uses corpses, it can benefit from this skill’s enhancement.

Currently, it doesn’t matter much, but if Gu Xi’s Corpse Burst upgrades to ordinary Corpse Burst or even to a super Corpse Burst level, things would be different, then any additional power increase could have significant damage to enemies.

[Basic Curse Level 1: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, boosts all curse magic power, extends curse duration by 20 seconds.]

This goes without saying, while Undead Mages use it frequently, other professions also tread the curse route, in the Undead Mage sphere it’s not particularly unique, Gu Xi might not have studied many curses, but that doesn’t mean he can’t handle them.

If it’s difficult to grasp, then just grasp a bit more.

[Corpse Structure Level 1: Passive Skill, can be upgraded, enhances the life force of all spells using Bone Shield, Bone Wall, Bone Cage, and the like by 25%.]

This final skill is actually similar to Corpse Bone Research, belonging to auxiliary add-on skills, only it helps with boosting spells meant for defense or trapping using corpses.

Gu Xi has heard that someone ultimately even managed to use corpses to construct a throne.

Regarding such things, Gu Xi doesn’t know if they’re true, but learning this skill surely brings no harm.

Now these skills are constantly swelling in Gu Xi’s mind, leaving his head in a daze.

When dragged to the side by the Grand Knight, Gu Xi tried hard to keep his eyes open.

”Kid, you’re quite something, having finished reading so many books, but couldn’t you choose, just went straight for all of them?”

”Grand Knight, what do you mean by this?”

”I placed these books out there, hoping you’d select some suitable ones for yourself. Your current state likely means you have many first-level skills.

Some prerequisite skills don’t even need learning as you won’t use them later.”

Gu Xi really wanted to curse, you old fellow, you didn’t mention a word in advance, I burnt through so much experience, and now you say this.

But he was truly out of strength, he glanced at the Grand Knight.

”Grand Knight, can you wait a bit, I seem to be feeling rather unwell.”

”That’s normal, you’ve poured too much knowledge into your brain at once, your thoughts are in chaos now, go take a nap, once you wake up you’ll be fine.”
