Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 243: Chapter 241: Treasure Chest Rewards (79/159)

In fact, for an Undead Mage, building a Knight Order is not particularly difficult.

As long as you avoid using Death Knights, and aren’t worried about uncontrollable soldiers, low morale, or rebellion, you can recruit other knights with some money.

If you can’t recruit traditional knights, you can still enlist Beastman Wolf Riders, Goblin Boar Cavalry, and Elf Pegasus Cavalry.

However, these troops, when paired with the Undead, have morale that plummets like a landslide and is impossible to raise.

Therefore, very few Undead Mages opt for such futile efforts.

Thus, puppets that aren’t affected by morale become the first choice for Undead Mages to establish a Knight Order.

For instance, the Stone Golems under Gu Xi’s command are such types of units.

But here lies a new problem, which is controlling Mechanical Puppets requires Undead Mages to study Mechanical Engineering.

In this field, Undead Mages definitely can’t compare to professional Puppet Masters.

So, some half-living knights appear before the Undead Mage instead.

But the idea is good; there are very few Undead Mages who can research the art of the half-living and even fewer who specialize in Death Knights.

By the time you manage that, players studying the Undead might already have mastered their game.

Those wielding large scythes and looking like Death Gods have power that is not inferior to Death Knights and sometimes can even execute lethal blows.

In this case, naturally, no one wants to build a Divine Hall for training knights.

As time passes, some players don’t even know this method exists anymore.

Gu Xi only realized he’d encountered something valuable when he saw the Scarlet Temple.

Even if he quits this dungeon now, he’s profited.

Putting away the [Scarlet Temple Design Map], Gu Xi calmed his mind and continued to look ahead seriously.

Aside from this design map, the Warrior Treasure Chest yielded two more items.

[You receive Land Grant Order (Green) *1]

[You receive Soldier Recruitment Coupon (Level 7) *3]

[Land Grant Order (Green): Allows you to occupy a fief in a designated location. The fief includes one large plot, two medium plots, and two small plots.]

[Soldier Recruitment Coupon (Level 7): Allows recruiting qualifications in self-owned, neutral, or friendly towns, directly recruiting 10 Level 7 soldiers of the current town.]

Seeing the Warrior Treasure Chest, Gu Xi couldn’t help but smile, as the appearance of a Land Grant Order resolved the issue of insufficient open space in his current territory.

Moreover, the Soldier Recruitment Coupon allows Gu Xi to quickly supplement advanced units. If the Scarlet Temple was already constructible, Gu Xi would absolutely think of building it and using all the recruitment coupons on Bloody Knights.

Apart from the chest, Gu Xi also obtained a Blue Treasure as a reward during the Warrior Tomb battle.

In this game, treasures and equipment are entirely different.

Equipment is used to enhance the player’s strength; treasures enhance the player’s troops or city strength.

Treasures, which may seem insignificant, can have significant effects during battles or in game scenarios.

A good Blue Treasure, in some players’ eyes, exceeds the value of Purple Equipment.

When Gu Xi took out the Blue Treasure, he found a heavy bow made entirely of metal with a double string in his hand.

[Iron Arm King’s Bow (Blue Treasure): Occupies the ranged weapon slot when equipped. Increases maximum damage of allied ranged units by 5. Cannot be equipped by Magic Heroes. All creatures led by the hero can shoot one extra time.]

Just a glance, and Gu Xi understood the function of the bow, which is tailored for players who specialize in shooters.

Aside from anything else, the ability for all ranged units to shoot one additional time is a game-changer in battle.

An ordinary rain of arrows would turn into a double rain of arrows on the spot.

The power of focused attacks would double.

Pairing with a Shooter Type Hero could even topple foes when they charge close.

Sadly, of the three heroes Gu Xi just obtained, none were Shooter Types.

For now, this bow is something only Gu Xi himself can carry.

Tucking the Iron Arm King’s Bow onto his back, Gu Xi also stored away 5000 points of Negative Energy.

As Gu Xi collected everything, the water currents, usually blocked by a water curtain, started filling the open space.

Gu Xi, not minding anything else, stood on the Evil Coffin and quickly commanded his Undead to retreat into the City Gate.

As the water level rose rapidly, Gu Xi noticed that the Stone Coffin of the Flower of the North seemed to move under the water pressure.

This immediately caught Gu Xi’s attention, as the Stone Coffin was embedded in the ground.

Without much thought, Gu Xi controlled the Evil Coffin to the front of the Stone Coffin.

By now, the water had reached knee level, but Gu Xi paid it no mind and quickly searched around the Stone Coffin.

Very soon, Gu Xi deciphered the name carved on the Stone Coffin.

’Svietlana’

As soon as the name was spoken, the Stone Coffin moved back a step.

Revealing a passage leading downward, while several outlets appeared within the Underground Tomb, the incoming river water flowed out through them, no longer rising.

Looking at the passage in front of him, Gu Xi hesitated for a moment but ultimately tapped the Evil Coffin and ventured down the passage.

Gu Xi conjectured that the Stone Coffin in the Tomb might just be a decoy; the Tomb of the Flower of the North, or rather Eldest Princess Svietlana, might be located beneath the Stone Coffin.

Although unsure whether the move was intentional or by chance, it was worth going down to explore.

However, Gu Xi didn’t expect that a few steps down, he’d reach the end already.

Beneath the Stone Coffin was a not-so-large empty room. Holding a Spirit Lamp, Gu Xi examined it for a long time, finding nothing except some damp walls.

But there was something. On each of the room’s four walls, there was an apple sealed.

Gu Xi glanced at them: the apple on the east wall was bright red, with smooth skin, and relatively large.

The apple on the south wall was golden. Though it seemed inedible, it drew attention.

The apple on the west wall was half red, half green, the green side seemingly poisoned.

The apple on the north wall was the most peculiar. Unlike the others embedded in the wall, it seemed unaffected by gravity, floating among the wall bricks.

For these four apples, Gu Xi had no idea what they represented.

But upon thinking of the frenzied apple tree in Westminster Cathedral and the roots of the Tail King’s apple tree, Gu Xi sensed an unusual connection here.

And just then, a notification rang in Gu Xi’s ears.

[You have found the core of the Underground Tomb, the Holy Tree Crown. During the next dungeon reboot, the hidden map will automatically unlock, with the entrance located beneath the fallen Holy Knight.]
