Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 232: Chapter 230: Pea Treasure Chest

”Is there a way to dig up this tree root section?”

After circling around the three apple tree roots, Gu Xi turned back to look at Luna.

Luna helplessly shook her head.

Gu Xi was relying too much on the Undead.

Although the Undead don’t require money to work, their power is actually limited, and they can’t do things like moving mountains and filling seas in a short time.

Digging through these apple tree roots is doable, but it takes time.

Twelve hours is simply not enough, especially since the hidden map is essentially a maze, which also requires accounting for battle time.

This is really too tight.

Luna’s shake of the head made Gu Xi consider another plan, maybe find the Grand Knight at the 19th road bus stop?

Tell them that apple tree roots have been found here?

Ask if they’re interested?

Just thinking of this, Gu Xi shook his head.

Better not.

The Grand Knight is researching how to deal with that apple tree, and there’s no way to lure him over here.

As for the Ghost’s ability to pass through walls, the limit is 15 meters. Zombies with the ability to burrow or other underground means are about the same level.

This is a restriction on the player’s soldiers, limiting their ability to bypass city walls or other obstacles at will.

When he learned about these in class, Gu Xi thought such restrictions were well-intentioned.

After all, no City Lord wants their hard-built city walls to be passed through by Ghosts, or one day find a group of Miner Zombies digging out from under their floors.

But now Gu Xi desperately wanted a unit that could bypass such a long apple tree root and open the passage to the Underground Tomb.

Yet, facts are facts, and after hesitating for a moment, Gu Xi fished out a blue pea seed from his pocket.

This was the [Assimilation Pea] obtained from the Library this week, capable of grafting onto other vines or tree root-like structures, absorbing nutrients, controlling the vines, and finally producing a treasure chest, a special pea.

Gu Xi had been waiting for the blood sacrifice at Evil Wood Lake to be completed to graft the [Assimilation Pea] onto that gigantic tentacle root.

He hadn’t expected to encounter such a situation just after entering Westminster Cathedral.

Though he was reluctant, Gu Xi still took it out.

He pressed the blue pea against the severed apple tree root, and without needing any further action from Gu Xi, the blue pea vine started to grow automatically.

As the pea vine grew, the apple tree root visibly shrank, while the vine used the opportunity to forcefully support the passage.

Before long, a blue vine pathway appeared in front of Gu Xi.

Glancing into the path, Gu Xi said, ”Units return to the city, leaving only the Corpse Poison Fly.”

Upon hearing this, Luna knew Gu Xi’s plan.

This vine path could only accommodate one person, and bringing these Skeleton Soldiers and Zombies would surely slow the pace.

It was better to have them return to Yalidov City first, and after Gu Xi found the Underground Tomb, he could summon them back.

Thus, Luna quickly commanded the troops to retreat into the City Gate.

Gu Xi, having taken a step ahead, ran down the vine path with the Corpse Poison Fly.

Due to the narrowness of the vine path, Gu Xi couldn’t bring out the Evil Coffin, relying solely on himself to run forward.

This bumpy speed was noticeably slower, but fortunately, the apple tree roots had been absorbed by the Assimilation Pea, making the way unobstructed overall.

After roughly ten minutes of running, Gu Xi reached the end of the vine path.

A person-high pea pod appeared at the front of the vine.

Beneath this pea pod was a bottomless pit.

Even leaning over the pit, Gu Xi could hear the whistling wind below.

He knew very well that this was the entrance to the Underground Tomb, and he could faintly sense the water vapor below.

After thinking for a moment, Gu Xi broke off a piece of vine and tossed it down.

About seven or eight seconds later, there was the sound of something hitting the water.

The tomb had flooded.

As an Undead Mage, Gu Xi had a certain level of judgment regarding the conditions of structures like graves and tombs.

It seemed that the apple tree roots had penetrated the sewers, and along the way, punched through someone else’s tomb.

Though he didn’t know which British illustrious figure owned the tomb below, Gu Xi hoped they were comfortable soaking in the water.

After a quick look, Gu Xi reached out and grasped the pea pod at the end of the vine.

[You have discovered a Pea Treasure Chest (Blue), do you wish to open it?]

”Lucky, found a treasure chest just after entering the dungeon.”

Gu Xi said with a smile, exerting force with both hands to squeeze open the pea pod, simultaneously bringing up a string of information before him.

[You have obtained Pea Grenade (Green) *4.]

[You have obtained Immortal Bean (Green) *1.]

[You have obtained Jade Peas (Blue, Inlay) *1.]

[Pea Grenade (Green): Upon being thrown, it automatically explodes three seconds after landing, dealing 300 damage to everyone nearby.]

[Immortal Bean (Green): Food, upon consumption, quickly restores 1000 Life and 1000 Mana, and sustains one person’s hunger for a day.]

[Jade Peas (Blue, Inlay): Embedding in a weapon can designate one projectile, ranged, or shooting skill Level +2.

Embedding in armor can designate one defense, counterattack, or recovery skill Level +2.

Embedding in jewelry can designate one passive skill Level +2.]

Seeing the items from the Pea Treasure Chest, Gu Xi’s eyes lit up.

The Pea Grenade and Immortal Bean were minor, but the Jade Peas were the key.

A +2 to one skill level, and it could even specify which skill.

Gu Xi now wished he had a ring with a socket or a necklace with a socket to mount this item for the optimal effect.

However, after searching for a long time, he had only two pieces of socketed equipment.

The Cold Wind Staff and the Reversed Lich, deciding whether to use the Jade Peas now, or wait to find more suitable accessories later, left Gu Xi momentarily indecisive.

Just then, Luna floated in as well.

”Master.”

”Oh.” Only then did Gu Xi realize that now was not the time to ponder these things.

Without much thought, he stuffed everything into his bag and grabbed a loose vine to head towards the tomb below.

As Gu Xi held the Spirit Lamp in one hand and grasped the dangling vine with the other, a ’ding’ sounded in his ear.

[Underground Tomb discovered, hidden map temporarily opened, please find the Underground Tomb’s core, the Holy Tree Crown, within 11 hours, 33 minutes, and 29 seconds, otherwise, the Underground Tomb will automatically close.]

[Upon success, the next time the dungeon is restarted, the hidden map will automatically open, and the entry point will be located at the feet of the fallen Holy Knight.]
