Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 211: Chapter 209: Zombie Siege of Victoria

Under Gu Xi’s inquiries, Luna quickly explained the situation in Victoria City.

It turned out that the incident at Westminster Cathedral last time had added the final spark to the already precarious situation in Victoria.

It ignited the powder keg that was Victoria.

The seventh city migration began in advance.

For the aristocrats in Victoria City, this was an opportunity and a revelry.

But for Yalidu City, this was a big problem, because in this mirror world, another new Yalidu City would emerge again.

This would make the already chaotic mirror image space even more chaotic.

If it were only this, it might have been fine, at most there would just be more conquerable cities in the mirror world where Yalidu is.

But this chaos temporarily severed the connection between Yalidu City and Victoria City.

Making it impossible for the two cities to connect, that’s how Luna and Shaya got trapped in Victoria City and couldn’t return.

If it weren’t for the owl sent by Gu Xi risking its life to deliver the letter to Luna, Luna might have considered going through the Mirror Image Underground Palace with Shaya again.

After Luna explained the situation inside, Gu Xi then turned to look at Shaya.

At this moment, Gu Xi noticed that there were a few undead following behind Shaya.

Among these undead, apart from a skeleton mage boss, the others were appearances Gu Xi had never seen before.

Their skin looked like it had been burned to a clay shell, with flaming patterns on the surface.

”Who are these?”

Gu Xi pointed at these undead and asked.

”They are the caretakers I hired for the small building, the sheriff of Greenwich Street, and the neighbor’s sister. It’s just that they encountered some issues, their status might be bad.”

Shaya explained the origins of these undead.

Gu Xi glanced at them, thinking to himself their status is indeed bad, they’ve already turned into undead, so how good could it be.

However, Gu Xi did not mock them but instead asked, ”What’s the situation in Victoria now?”

”What else could it be, it’s the coal dust uprising.”

Shaya pouted.

”Coal dust? The energy for the steam power behind the small building? How did they revolt? Because the city lacks it and they revolted?”

As Gu Xi listened, he became even more confused.

”No, Sir, actually their current status is in the unburned state of coal dust.”

”They? Coal dust?”

Gu Xi looked at the undead in front of him in amazement, he couldn’t see any direct connection between these undead and coal dust.

Perhaps seeing that Gu Xi was unclear about the relationship, Shaya quickly explained.

”In fact, the coal dust disease first appeared in the steam factories. According to the church, those workers were in constant contact with steam power, their bodies slowly carbonized.

This carbonization is irreversible and can only be resisted by taking the breath of living beings.

But people whose vitality is sucked by those carbonized would also get this carbonization disease, even if they weren’t the steam factory workers.

They would then have to absorb others’ vitality.

Additionally, someone discovered that the corpses of workers who died from carbonization disease were the best fuel, so workers who got sick were generally not taken for treatment, rather confined in the factory, made to work until they died.

Even if a few carbonized patients escaped from the steam factory, they couldn’t escape the factory owner’s pursuit.”

”My God, even the bones were sold after working there.”

Listening to Shaya’s explanation, Gu Xi couldn’t help but be stunned. Even as an undead mage, he thought Victoria City’s factory owners went too far.

”Originally, it wasn’t a big deal. Many people in Victoria City knew about this situation but had to work desperately to live.

However, this coal dust uprising actually has multiple reasons, the most crucial one being that someone intends to rebuild Victoria City.

Does Sir still remember the price surge of land in Camden District?”

”I remember.”

Gu Xi definitely remembers this matter, it was because of this matter that he became connected with Shaya.

”It was actually because some aristocrats heard rumors and started hoarding land.

Then something happened at Westminster Cathedral, drawing Victoria City’s church, military, and royal attention, some aristocrats began scheming.

They chose to forcibly demolish some buildings.

For example, burning a district, then considering the district unbuildable after the burn, reclaiming it for national management.

I stayed in Victoria all along to deal with this trouble.”

”They played dirty.”

Gu Xi somewhat disdained the means of those aristocrats.

”But they screwed up, they set a fire but lacked the ability to extinguish it, and it spread close to the Isis River, where someone was bringing in a large number of poor people to send them to the steam factory for work.

Most of these poor people already had carbonization disease, few knew because they were always confined, but this fire released them.

These civilians, driven by survival instinct, ran about in Victoria City, absorbing living breath madly, carbonization disease spreads more and more.

Eventually, the entire Victoria became walking coal dust.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi understood, Victoria inflicting its own demise.

The current situation was clearly a carbonized version of a plague.

”What was Victoria’s situation when you returned?”

”It’s probably not optimistic, the church and royal family’s attention is all on Westminster Cathedral, can’t spare to handle this.

The military has no orders, can’t enter the city, and the private armies of aristocrats can’t withstand the attack, can only hold their ground.

So now Victoria City is probably already finished.

Being razed by the fire and rebuilt is the best result.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi finally understood why Yalidu City judged Victoria City to be undergoing the seventh migration.

It seems this city hasn’t just changed dramatically but will be directly razed and rebuilt.

”What about my small building over there?”

”When we left, the small building was still there, but whether it can be preserved is uncertain.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi fell silent.

He could already tell the situation in Victoria City was quite complex, with Gu Xi’s limited troops put in, it would probably make no difference.

But when Gu Xi was about to say he’d give up Victoria City, he saw Luna.

Gu Xi knew that Luna was closely connected with Yalidu City.

Even if he could expand Yalidu City through other means now, he couldn’t sever the connection between Yalidu City and Victoria City.

If he forcibly gives up Victoria City now, it would be hard to connect again later.
