Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 215: Chapter 213: Expedition Missions (65/158)

”Yes, my lord!”

Fu Gu swiftly took action upon receiving Gu Xi’s command.

Gu Xi noticed the small colored flags on the sand table changing once more.

Apart from the flags of the Bone-Slaying Camp, some flags had numbers added on them, numbered from 1 to 9.

Only after that were the plain color flags with nothing on them.

However, Fu Gu was able to identify which units these flags represented from the flags themselves.

As Fu Gu was re-organizing the troops, Gu Xi approached the sand table and noticed three lines of information above it—one white and two green.

[Mission: Sewer Cleansing 1 (White)]

[Enemies: Deceitful Mouse (Level 0-5) 200, Deceitful Mouse Boss (Level 5, Boss)]

[Requirement: 100 Undead Soldiers, 1 Undead Boss, 10 units of food]

[Deployment Time: 12 hours]

[Success Rate: 0%]

[Return Rewards: Resources (Abundant), Soldier and Boss Experience (Abundant), Treasure Chest (Possible)]

[Description: This is a cleansing operation for the sewers beneath Yalidov City.]

As Gu Xi examined the sand table, Fu Gu also approached.

”My lord, do we need to engage in a combat mission?”

”Let me handle it, I’ve studied this.”

Sending troops on expeditions, Gu Xi had learned about this at the Nether Bone Wind Academy.

He quickly picked up the small flags planted on the sand table and swiftly moved them into the task in front of him.

As he placed them in, Gu Xi was muttering to himself.

”Send a Zombie Boss leading 50 Zombie Axe and Shields into the sewers, ignore the rest, just boost the defense first. The sewer is rather small, what was taught in class—it’s best to deploy mouse-type and insect-type units.

This time we’re dealing with mice, so deploy 50 swarms of Corpse Poison Flies, that should be enough combat power. Let’s see, success rate: 87%, that will do, deploy the troops!”

With Gu Xi’s command, a horn sounded above the Barracks.

Several flags disappeared from Gu Xi’s hands simultaneously, and a scene of a departing troop appeared on the sand table.

Fu Gu watched Gu Xi’s operation without much comment on his technique.

In Fu Gu’s eyes, the troops Gu Xi dispatched might not be the optimal solution, but there wouldn’t be major issues.

As long as it’s steady and not risky, Fu Gu believed it was enough.

After dispatching a troop, Gu Xi immediately got interested and quickly arranged the remaining two deployment tasks.

[Mission: Fog Deceitful Shadow (Green)]

[Enemies: Deceitful Shadow (Level 0-5) 200, Deceitful Shadow Boss (Level 5, Defense Type)]

[Mission: Border Patrol (Green)]

[Description: Anomalies have been detected at the border of the Magic Plant District, please respond promptly.]

After all tasks were arranged, Gu Xi then turned to Fu Gu.

”How often are these tasks?”

”Unless there’s a special situation, for now there are only three tasks. Complete one, and a new one refreshes.”

”If a White Level task refreshes next time, I’ll leave it to you to arrange, and for Green Level tasks, I’ll come and evaluate them.”

”Yes, my lord!”

Fu Gu responded decisively.

It wasn’t that Gu Xi didn’t value the authority to dispatch troops from the Barracks, it’s just that White Level tasks are merely practice battles for soldiers.

As long as a boss counters the enemy’s boss, the task is essentially completed.

Unlike Green Level tasks, which require considering the attributes of the enemy’s bosses, selecting units that can counter them.

For example, if the enemy has lethal abilities, Gu Xi would either use a subordinate with First Strike or a ranged subordinate to ensure the enemy doesn’t get close.

Or, if the enemy has area-of-effect spell abilities, sending out an Assassin would be the most suitable choice.

These countermeasures were ones Gu Xi had to memorize fully in the Nether Bone Wind Academy.

Now Gu Xi could instinctively select the corresponding personnel, and his choices were quite good, with success rates not falling below the 75% warning line.

After arranging the troop deployments, Gu Xi took a stroll around the Barracks.

The Barracks were currently only at Level 1, so many specialized functions hadn’t been activated yet.

However, the Barracks had reserved the corresponding positions for them.

Gu Xi was satisfied after making the rounds.

”Fu Gu, I’ll leave the Barracks to you next. I don’t need to stress the importance of the Barracks to you.

I want you to ensure that as long as you’re here, the stability of the Barracks and the deployment of troops are performed at their best.”

”Rest assured, my lord; as long as I’m here, the Barracks and Yalidov City’s defense will have no issues.”

”Good!”

Gu Xi patted Fu Gu on the shoulder and turned to leave.

”My lord, where are we going next?”

Luna floated over to Gu Xi.

”Is the Garrison Gate the priority for construction? Is it completed now?”

”It has been completed, and the Moat and Arrow Towers are close to finishing too. Do you want to take a look?”

”Let’s go take a look, after which we’ll head to the Magic Tower.”

Gu Xi contemplated for a moment before making his decision.

After all, there was still some time before action at the Magic Tower, and he also planned to place a building that can be transformed by the White Bone Demon Lamp next to the Magic Tower, which required dedicated handling.

If things got busy, there might not be time to check on the gate later.

So he planned to first examine the gate’s status.

After all, the gate played a crucial role in activating Death City’s defenses during battles.

Luna had no objections to Gu Xi’s choice and led the way.

However, as they walked, Gu Xi realized they seemed to be leaving the early district and entered the Magic Plant District where the land was fragmented.

Watching the Twisted Giant Trees already planted by the roadside, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask.

”Luna, why was the gate built here this time?”

”My lord, there was a major battle here last time that dispelled several patches of fog. From the fog, Deceitful Shadows occasionally entered Yalidov City. Building the gate, the Moat, and Arrow Towers here can provide some defense.”
