Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 244: Chapter 242: Holy Tree Crown

”Welcome to the Holy Tree Crown, young necromancer.”

When he confirmed that he had completed the hidden map mission, a voice echoed again in this small room.

The voice was quite pleasant, but Gu Xi felt an overwhelming pressure.

He struggled to stand up straight, gripping the Cold Wind Staff tightly with his right hand to prevent himself from falling.

”Don’t exert yourself so much, young man. I know why you are here, but I’m not here right now. I hope you can do me a favor: when attacking Westminster, don’t destroy the apple tree.

Even though it has mutated, it is the foundation of Britain.

We originally brought seeds from Eden, Greece, and Germanic lands, investing an unknown amount of effort to plant this Holy Tree which bore fruit.

It is the dragon vein and spirit root of Britain.

Even if it has mutated, it cannot be destroyed.

So I hope you won’t destroy the apple tree when attacking Westminster.”

Upon hearing this, another voice murmured in Gu Xi’s ear.

[Ding! You’ve unlocked an achievement related to the instance, ’You and I Under the Apple Tree,’ requiring you to complete the Westminster Cathedral major event instance without damaging the apple tree.]

As the words ended, Gu Xi also laughed.

An instance achievement?

This is a self-challenge, increasing the difficulty of the instance voluntarily.

Although there’s no exact concept, Gu Xi believes that this ’You and I Under the Apple Tree’ achievement is roughly as difficult as Zero Light Yogg-Saron.

To complete this task, it’s not feasible to approach it from the ground downwards, but rather by defeating the Tail King first.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi glanced at the Holy Tree Crown, then confidently said, ”I will.”

As soon as Gu Xi finished speaking, the ground slowly rose, sending him out of this unremarkable basement, and the stone coffin returned to its original position.

This time, Gu Xi noticed that the river water poured into the underground tomb had completely flowed out, and at the tomb’s end, there was a passage upward.

It seemed that the underground tomb was now open to the public, allowing Gu Xi to come and go freely.

This was good news for Gu Xi, who wasted no time and drove the Evil Coffin towards the passage.

As for Gu Xi’s subordinates, they had all returned to Yalidu City to recover their life and combat power, waiting for Gu Xi’s next command.

Once out of the underground space through the passage, Gu Xi immediately headed towards the 19th bus stop.

After causing such a commotion underground, Gu Xi had no interest in wandering around the Westminster Cathedral’s perimeter to fight unknown enemies or gather those useless black apple flowers. What he most wanted now was to find the Grand Knight and ask for his thoughts.

As for the black apple flowers, Gu Xi had snatched enough from the Tail King, believing they would suffice.

Outside the bus stop, the soldiers guarding there were still painstakingly constructing defenses to deal with the bizarre occurrences.

Every now and then, new troops would enter the instance via the 19th bus stop.

Gu Xi noticed that every minute in the instance, things were changing unceasingly.

This time, a group of mages wearing black robes and scarves around their necks arrived just as he passed by. Gu Xi couldn’t shake the feeling that the scarves were their main body.

Once inside, they quickly headed towards the other side of the defense line without linger.

After they left, Gu Xi approached the Grand Knight while holding the Cold Wind Staff.

”Grand Knight, I’ve obtained twenty black apple flowers.”

”Oh, you’ve been swift indeed.”

The Grand Knight glanced at Gu Xi, surprised.

He had previously sent people to search for other black apple flowers, but none of the sent soldiers found even one.

Yet over a short span, Gu Xi managed to collect twenty black apple flowers.

It seemed Gu Xi had a connection with the black apple flowers.

Gu Xi didn’t elaborate, quickly taking out the black apple flowers.

Upon receiving the first black apple flower, the Grand Knight didn’t say much, merely nodding.

However, as more black apple flowers were presented, the Grand Knight’s expression grew solemn.

”Where did you get these flowers?”

”Is there a problem?”

Gu Xi asked, slightly confused.

”Of course there’s a problem. Among so many black apple flowers, only this one was collected from the surface. The rest all come from the apple tree roots, underground. Where did you find the underground roots?”

The Grand Knight asked anxiously.

Seeing the Grand Knight’s anxious demeanor, Gu Xi could only reply, ”From the underground tomb of the Flower of the North. Don’t worry, I’ve been to the Holy Tree Crown.”

”Wait, you’ve been inside Westminster Cathedral’s underground tomb? My goodness, that’s not good, hold on.”

The Grand Knight seemed flustered, thinking for a moment, then asked Gu Xi to wait while he ran off.

Gu Xi didn’t quite understand why the Grand Knight rushed out.

However, the Grand Knight’s departure gave him just enough time to sort out the newly acquired heroes, bosses, and elite troops.

A bit of distance away from the 19th bus stop, Gu Xi blocked off the city gate, having Luna summon the undead corps once more.

In the battle at the Warrior Tomb, although Gu Xi gained many good items, his losses were also substantial.

The Zombie Axe and Shield Soldiers suffered over half casualties, leaving only 379 remaining.

The Skeleton Gunners lost nearly five hundred, and after accounting for those stationed in the Magic Plant District, merely 1,217 Skeleton Gunners were combat-ready.

For Gu Xi, this was the greatest loss.

Understandably, after the Undead Calamity Ritual Array battle, Gu Xi had gained a troop of 3,000.

In just days, only 1,500 out of 3,000 remained.

With a few more battles like this, Gu Xi might end up farming in Yalidu City.

The losses for the Bone-Slaying Camp and other miscellaneous troops were also severe.

Particularly for the Ghost Corps, combining all the ghosts, only 36 remained.

Thinking of those powerful ghosts from the Yinfeng Camp, Ghost Qi Camp, and those obtained from the Undead Calamity Array, Gu Xi felt a pang of sorrow.

It’s crucial to know that in Yalidu City now, training only produces Skeleton troops; Zombies and Ghosts are acquired through other means.

Each death means one less soldier.

Zombies are somewhat easier, as they can be replenished through the Soul Summoning Skill if necessary.

Ghosts, however, are irreplaceable, as Gu Xi’s Soul Summoning Skill must reach at least level 9 to summon ghosts, which he hasn’t achieved yet.

While inventorying his undead troops, Gu Xi categorized the new undead bosses, heroes, and elites he received.

Eventually, Gu Xi made the necessary arrangements.
