Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 220: Chapter 218: Learning Dark Knowledge

Setting down the Thick-Skinned Magic Book, Gu Xi’s gaze turned to the remaining four wooden doors, where the spells that soldiers could learn were housed.

[Mana Extraction (Soldier Training): Extract 3 points of mana from the enemy before the battle begins.]

Researchable derived skill: Mana Accumulation.

[Mana Accumulation (1st Level Magic Tower Researchable, Progress 0%): The mana extracted by soldiers can be stored, eventually becoming a magic potion that can replenish 100 points of mana for players to use.]

[Blood Loss Curse (Soldier Training): Cursed enemies automatically lose 3 points of life per second.]

Researchable derived skill: Deepened Curse.

[Deepened Curse (1st Level Magic Tower Researchable, Progress 0%): Cursed soldiers automatically lose double the life per second.]

[Slowdown Skill (Soldier Training): Reduce the enemy’s movement speed to only 50% of the original.]

Researchable derived skill: Full Slowness.

[Full Slowness (1st Level Magic Tower Researchable, Progress 0%): Slow down enemy response speed and reduce their attack speed.]

[Illusion Skill (Soldier Training): Release an illusion identical to oneself that cannot attack, has 1 point of life, but can mimic the body’s actions.]

Researchable derived skill: Multiple Illusions.

[Multiple Illusions (1st Level Magic Tower Researchable, Progress 0%): Release three illusions to draw enemy fire.]

After glancing at the skills available for the magic soldiers to learn, he made up his mind.

Whoever comes along, selecting Mana Extraction at the start is a sure choice.

Besides this, Gu Xi planned to research the derived skill Mana Accumulation first.

After all, this is a free Blue Bottle, although it only replenishes 100 points of mana at a time, the problem is that Gu Xi’s Death Incarnation can be used as long as there’s mana.

This is equivalent to Gu Xi carrying hundreds of them along with him.

As for the other spells, it would depend on the situation. Those more valuable magic corps could learn an Illusion Skill for self-preservation.

If it’s a Skeleton Mage, using Slowdown Skill directly would be enough.

As for the Blood Loss Curse, it’s used for fighting bosses.

If it really comes to that, wouldn’t a Skeleton Mage’s spell be effective enough? Why insist on using the Blood Loss Curse?

”Anthony, do we need manpower to research derived spells?”

”No need, the Magic Tower can conduct research independently now.”

Anthony said confidently.

”Alright then, start researching Mana Accumulation, then move on to Scattering, Death Despair, and Multiple Illusions.”

Gu Xi went one by one over what he wanted.

Gu Xi had made it clear: among the three spells players and heroes could learn, Death Ripple and Magic Divine Arrow were of the highest priority, with Flame Trap following.

As for Passive Skills, Gu Xi had encountered Dark Knowledge once when he leveled up to level 2, in a three-choice selection that included Dark Knowledge.

However, at that time, Gu Xi chose Undead Domination, which was more suitable for Undead Mage skills.

Now that it’s reappeared and can be learned for free, Gu Xi certainly wouldn’t miss the opportunity.

It’s important to know that the curse route among Undead Mages is quite compatible with Dark Knowledge.

In the ultimate form, they can even use a skill called Netherworld Curse to inflict massive damage on all non-undead creatures present, converting the life taken to new undead.

This is almost like a weaker version of the Undead Calamity.

Even if Gu Xi doesn’t follow the curse route, learning it makes sense.

As for the three derived skills of Dark Knowledge, Gu Xi wasn’t impressed, for now.

After all, his magic lacks curses, and his focus is still on city construction and undead control.

So it’s enough to know Dark Knowledge; no hurry to delve into it.

However, the derived effects of a few other magics are considerably good. Starting research now won’t hurt at all.

When Anthony heard there was work to do, he quickly arranged it without further ado.

At this time, Gu Xi pushed open the door with golden edges.

Upon entering the Dark Knowledge small room, Gu Xi saw that it was a world of darkness, with many books floating in the void, occasionally flying out from the darkness.

Standing at the door, Gu Xi hesitated for a moment but finally stepped in.

Once Gu Xi stepped through the small door, the darkness behind it disappeared entirely, turning it into an ordinary study, with a desk, a crystal ball lamp, and a wall of black thick-skinned books.

When Gu Xi sat in front of the desk, a string of text suddenly appeared before him.

[Read ten Dark Books to reach Dark Knowledge Level 1. Once mastered, you can enhance Dark Knowledge Level through reading and other means.]

Seeing the emergent information, Gu Xi glanced at the wall of books and knew he hit the jackpot this time.

Back at Nether Bone Wind Academy, he had to attend classes and memorize texts, dedicating a lot of effort just to level up Undead Knowledge and Magic Knowledge.

Now, as long as he reads all the books here, the Dark Knowledge level would skyrocket in no time.

Thus Gu Xi didn’t waste any time. He reached out and took a black thick-skinned book. Before even opening it, he felt a tingle in his fingers, as a black aura flowed from the book through his fingers into his body.

”Damn it! Does this book carry a curse as well?”

Gu Xi flipped his hand, channeling mana into his palm to expel the black aura.

Afterward, he ignored it and began reading the black thick-skinned book.

The book contained foundational knowledge of the dark system, similar to how Gu Xi learned Undead Knowledge from the ground up.

Everything was fundamental here; Gu Xi quickly grasped some of the information inside.

He absorbed the book’s contents.

However, Gu Xi also noticed that his skin began to undergo changes with prolonged reading.

This was a consequence of reading magic books, so Gu Xi had to stand and relax every thirty minutes, taking a break for five or six minutes before sitting back down to read.

If he didn’t, he would eventually be engulfed by darkness, unable to return.

These were lessons learned with blood and tears at Nether Bone Wind Academy.

Back then, Gu Xi had a classmate who was incredibly urgent in his study.

He spent three consecutive days reading Undead Books, attempting to boost his Undead Knowledge in one go.

One morning, Gu Xi and his classmates found that this person had turned into a zombie clutching an Undead Book, ceaselessly flipping through its pages.

That classmate is still chained to a tree under the teaching building now.

Gu Xi didn’t want to end up that way, so even knowing time was tight, he didn’t indulge in crazy reading.

After reading for a while, he would get up and take a break, sometimes even stepping out to wander around other rooms.
