The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 398: Chapter 397: Who’s Gossiping About Me Behind My Back

Even with boundless motivation supporting him, after handling over a dozen barbecue delivery orders in one night, Fu Yu felt a bit numb in his legs and a bit sore in his arms.

Fortunately, although he felt tired, the gains were considerable.

Not only had he moved one step closer to completing his task, but during the evening’s grilling process, he also realized many issues he had never thought of before.

He returned to his dormitory with a tired body.

When he opened the door, Fu Yu paused; anyway, there was no correlation between the time in the teaching practice class and reality, so he might as well start learning early.

He pulled up the task panel and chose to take out the key.

When the door opened again, the scene before him changed immediately.

It was the familiar Qianlima kitchen, and still his own counter.

However, the original counter had become extraordinarily large, with various seasonings placed upon it, as well as all the kitchenware needed for creating sauces.

As soon as Fu Yu stood still, a standard electronic voice sounded in his ears:

[Sauces: In China, sauces have a long history. According to records, sauces began not as condiments but as important food items. Later, people discovered that various ingredients could be combined into sauces, which led to the increasing variety of sauces.

Sauces have developed over thousands of years, gradually taking an important position in our diet as one of the most crucial components of delicious cuisine. Today, there are thousands of types of sauces.]

...

[Sauces: Chapter One: Spicy Sauce]

[Characteristics of Spicy Sauce: It possesses a salty, fresh, fragrant, spicy and numbing flavor that is rich, spicy without being irritating, and leaves a fragrant taste.]

[Types of Spicy Sauce: Classic sesame spicy sauce, spicy and fragrant sauce... Sichuan spicy sauce]

...

[Sauces: Final Chapter: Classic Barbecue Sauces]

...

Even though he had long understood how extensive and comprehensive the teaching practice class content was, this time, Fu Yu was still somewhat shocked.

He knew there were a variety of seasonings in the world, but he never imagined that just the basic seasonings—salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and umami—contained over a hundred different extended flavors each.

And from these hundreds of basic seasonings, the derivatives reached over ten thousand kinds of sauces.

A few random seasonings mixed together would result in a brand-new sauce.

In the teaching practice class, Fu Yu seemed to open a new world, reaching a new level of understanding and recognition of basic seasonings.

And through repeated blending practice, after many trials and attempts, Fu Yu’s intuition for the fusion of sauce flavors deepened profoundly!

Each time he completed a sauce mix, the system would require him to grill something randomly, allowing him to explore and perceive the different enhancing effects sauces could have on the same ingredient through practice and tasting.

This class’s practice session was particularly long, but Fu Yu was so absorbed in it that he did not notice.

He had no idea how much time had passed until, when he finally learned the last sauce blending method, the class-ending electronic notification sounded in his ear.

He exited the teaching practice class.

Fu Yu walked into the room and casually closed the door behind him.

Despite his body screaming for rest, his mind was excitedly active as he lay on the bed.

The feeling of having mastered a skill filled Fu Yu with more confidence.

He even had the sudden urge to spread and promote these sauce blending methods.

After countless low-score operations that finally resulted in a perfect score, he had thought a lot and realized many things.

The methods taught in the teaching practice class were created by others from ancient to modern times; the learning process is just a way to gain deeper understanding of them.

However, he must not be confined by any single one of these methods.

Because, ultimately, the sauce blending methods created by others have certain limitations.

If he wants to innovate a unique sauce blend of his own, he must break out of this mental constraint.

He needs to think more, see more, and attempt more.

In fact, there is no fixed method and proportion in sauce blending; he could even integrate and improve the strengths of various sauce blending methods.

Fu Yu tossed and turned on his bed, feeling that this was the most profound and authentic experience after so many teaching practice classes.

On this night, he repeatedly recalled what he had learned in the teaching practice class with his eyes closed, deeply realizing many things.

He not only learned all the sauce blending methods but also understood the soul and essence of how blending should be done.

This was his most precious gain.

Although he had only learned the sauce blending methods created by predecessors, he had a feeling that even if he could not achieve it immediately, he was not far from truly creating a brand-new barbecue recipe.

A sleepless night.

The next morning, Fu Yu went to his routine punch-in, looking utterly exhausted.

Before he could finish yawning, he was startled by the electronic notification that sounded in his ear.

[Ding! Daily Task: Complete the cooking of ten barbecue spreads. Task Completion Reward: A key to the special dipping sauce blending teaching practice class.]

Fu Yu’s half-squinted eyes immediately widened!

Taking a deep breath, he could basically confirm now that the system was planning something big!

First it was sauces, then dipping sauces, what would be next?

It’s important to remember that in cooking dishes, while ingredients and skills are one aspect, the use of seasonings is equally crucial.

With the development of the era, people’s requirements for food have evolved from basic energy and nutrition acquisition to a pursuit of flavor.

With the development of culinary arts over thousands of years, people’s standards for taste have become increasingly high.

And in each era, the understanding and requirements for the taste of delicacies vary and improve.

”Food is the primary necessity of the people.”

The nation’s culinary culture has a long history, from the primitive era of eating raw meat and drinking blood to today’s refined cooking, it embodies a continuous evolution.

This is also the direction most chefs are currently striving to innovate and develop.

Suddenly, Fu Yu felt a sense of belonging as a chef.

He even had the impulse to dominate the culinary field!

Realizing this, Fu Yu quickly shook his head.

He was getting a bit carried away!

This won’t do.

At any time, being down-to-earth is the most reliable!

Not to mention, he had only learned a little bit now.

Though he was better than the average person, there are always people better than oneself out there.

Fu Yu had always considered Zhao Meng as his goal; perhaps in the future, he could aim to be like Chef Yao?

Zhao Meng, who was checking the pickling status of side dishes in the kitchen: ”Achoo! Who’s talking about me behind my back?”
