The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 365: Chapter 364: With a Grill in Hand, Anything Can Be Roasted

He realized his main shortcoming was a lack of practice.

So when Fu Yu studied, he was especially diligent and hardworking.

However, the teaching time outside of work was limited, and the time available for practice was even less.

By the end of a whole day, the actual time he could spend in front of the grill was less than three hours.

When he went back to rest at night, Fu Yu couldn’t help but sigh, wishing he had more time to practice.

Three hours a day, and in a week, he probably won’t have gone through all the seafood in the store.

Thinking absentmindedly, he reached for his keys, and just as he was about to open the door, a crucial thought popped into his mind.

He still had one opportunity left to learn from Dai Jinghe’s personal skills that he hadn’t used!

He thought of the advanced deboning skill he learned from Liu Yunong before.

Thanks to the hands-on practice in the teaching practice class, he was able to skillfully operate right after learning it.

Dai Jinghe was so impressive that he must have some knowledge in barbecue as well.

Fu Yu was already advanced in grilling, and what he needed now was to enter the teaching practice class for systematic and comprehensive learning and training.

If it had been a week earlier, Fu Yu would definitely have resisted the idea of entering the teaching practice class.

But now, at this bottleneck in improving his cooking skills, he was sincerely looking forward to it for the first time.

At this moment, Fu Yu hadn’t realized yet.

Under the subtle guidance and leadership of the system, he was no longer as resistant to heavy learning and training as before.

Moreover, slowly, his understanding of culinary arts began to shift from ’once the skills are in hand, I’ve got the world at my feet’ to ’enduring hardship is the key to success’.

Dai Jinghe indeed lived up to his status as a master of the industry.

After appreciating the personal attributes of Yao Shi and Liu Yunong, Fu Yu considered himself quite exposed to the world.

But upon seeing Dai Jinghe’s nearly fully maxed-out personal skills, and the three major cuisines, one fully maxed, two nearly maxed progress bars.

It almost dazzled him.

Dai Jinghe not only mastered the three major cuisines but was extremely proficient in them, which couldn’t simply be described as impressive.

Knowing that any one major cuisine likely has over a thousand dishes associated with it?

Achieving such proficiency, what kind of talent does it take to match?

Fu Yu held Dai Jinghe in awe and respect.

Indeed a renowned chef, truly remarkable!

While exclaiming in admiration, Fu Yu flipped through Dai Jinghe’s personal attributes, carefully looking for the barbecue skills he wanted to learn.

For a culinary expert, barbecue was considered a niche skill, placed at the bottom of personal skills.

Though not easy to find, Fu Yu was immensely relieved that Dai Jinghe’s grilling skill was also advanced.

Confirming this, Fu Yu chose to enter the teaching practice class without hesitation.

The next second, the familiar electronic notification sound rang in his ears:

[Barbecue: the earliest form of cooking known to mankind, using fuel to heat and dry the air, and placing food (mostly meat, seafood, vegetables) close to the heat source in hot dry air to cook it until edible.]

[Barbecue is divided into direct and indirect grilling. Direct grilling can be done with open or covered flames. Indirect grilling includes methods like using an iron board, stone board, copper board, and so on...]

...

Not knowing how long he spent in the teaching practice class, when Fu Yu successfully emerged, he felt as if a millennium had passed!

If possible, he felt the grilling method was substantial enough to become a major cuisine in its own right.

Grilled meats, seafood, and fruits—he could accept that.

But grilling large garlic, green onions, and all sorts of bizarre insects and herbs?

It was like opening a door to a new world for him.

Practice led him to the realization that ”as long as I have a grill, I can barbecue anything in the world”.

When Fu Yu came out of the teaching practice class, he suddenly realized he had started learning right at the door.

So his pose was still in the motion of opening the door.

He couldn’t help but feel relieved that the time spent in the teaching practice class wouldn’t affect real life.

Next morning.

After tasting the grilled sanma by Fu Yu, Master Chen immediately praised with a face full of astonishment: ”This fish is grilled excellently!”

Master Chen was speaking the truth.

He sincerely felt that Fu Yu’s grilled sanma was exceptionally delicious.

Not only was the flavor fresh and enticing, but it was also crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The fish skin was crisp, and the fish meat had a subtle smoky aroma, incredibly flavorful.

The same goes for marinating the fish and sprinkling salt on the skin, Fu Yu mastered the quantities perfectly.

The seasoned sanma was perfectly salted, making it taste even more delicious.

By the afternoon, Fu Yu grilled some clams as well.

Without using aluminum foil, he managed to grill the clams to be tender and tasty, and even the texture was on par with Master Chen’s work, with his control of the heat slightly surpassing it.

Master Chen clicked his tongue in amazement and said to Yao Shi half-seriously, half-jokingly: ”I originally thought it would take at least half a month to complete his training, but at this rate, in no more than three days, once Chef Fu has practiced all the ingredients, familiarize himself with the seasoning and marinating proportions and grilling times needed for different ingredients, he’ll basically be ready to graduate.”

Yao Shi took Master Chen’s words as deliberately praising Fu Yu to curry favor with him.

After all, in the music restaurant, it’s well-known in the kitchen that Fu Yu was liked and appreciated by the owner.

However, only three days later, when Master Chen really came to greet Yao Shi, preparing to leave, Yao Shi suddenly realized that everything Master Chen said was true!

Fu Yu had managed to learn the barbecue skill in less than a week and mastered it so well that even Master Chen thought he could start taking orders directly.

Afterward, Yao Shi couldn’t help but remark to Zhao Meng: ”Xiaofu truly has a talent for this! Old Chen said that in a short few days, Fu Yu has learned all his barbecue skills. This kid is really amazing!”

Zhao Meng agreed proudly: ”Still, Old Chen has a keen eye, Fu Yu indeed is smart and talented, learns fast, and above all, is willing to work hard and think deeply.”

”It’s not just with learning barbecue. With what I have taught him, he has already learned most of it. Sometimes I feel there’s nothing more that I can teach him.”

Yao Shi did not find Zhao Meng’s words exaggerated at all; on the contrary, he agreed very much.

Many times, he even felt that Fu Yu was stronger than he was back in the day.

However, regarding Master Chen’s proposal, Yao Shi did not agree and chose to keep him for another half month, ensuring the other three people could also grill independently before letting the financial department settle Master Chen’s salary and allow him to leave.

Upon learning the news, Dong Jun Tian was also very pleased.

Everyone was filled with joy.
