The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 356: Chapter 355: I Think I Bought a Watch Last Year

Fu Yu walked out of the locker room and hadn’t gone far when he heard someone calling him from behind.

Gao Chao caught up with him and walked alongside.

They were about the same age and in the same industry. Even though they hadn’t known each other before, a few casual chats quickly broke the ice.

Gao Chao couldn’t help but ask, ”Chef Fu, did you specifically learn how to make dough before? Your technique doesn’t seem like a newbie’s.”

Fu Yu paused, spinning an old lie anew: ”Oh, back in school, I tried to impress a girl by secretly learning from the pastry section for over a year.”

Gao Chao was at a loss for words, suddenly not wanting to talk to Fu Yu anymore.

If you don’t want to answer, just say so. Is there a need to be so perfunctory?

However, Fu Yu’s expression was sincerely genuine.

Gao Chao gave Fu Yu a deep look... He didn’t believe it at all!

At school, the hot kitchen and the pastry kitchen were two separate specialties. Although you could audit the theory classes, you definitely couldn’t join in the practical ones.

Can you really learn pastry work just by watching?

Ridiculous!

Gao Chao felt that Fu Yu probably just didn’t want to tell the truth or was indirectly boasting!

They walked out of the teaching building, and Fu Yu took out his phone to check the time, preparing to find Li Linfeng.

Seeing Fu Yu about to leave, Gao Chao couldn’t help but catch up and asked, ”Chef Fu, have you made walnut buns before? Did you learn from a specific master chef?”

Fu Yu instinctively touched his chest.

Walnut buns, he really hadn’t learned them from anyone before.

But now... he had just been forced to spend 10 skill points to master the advanced walnut feast skill.

[Advanced Walnut Feast Skill: Capable of perfectly cooking all dishes containing walnut ingredients. Present different flavors and textures in different ways, fully utilizing its value and various benefits to meet customer’s dining nutritional needs and dietary health regimen. ]

Despite being unhappy with the system’s strong-arm tactics, the range of walnut feast dishes was undeniably comprehensive and rich.

If it weren’t for the skill points consumed to acquire this skill, Fu Yu would be quite satisfied with this advanced personal skill.

At this moment, hearing Gao Chao’s question, Fu Yu said with mixed feelings, ”In my family, they used to cook all sorts of food using walnuts to boost my brain power, maybe because I got used to it. Plus, with Teacher Qiu’s direct guidance now, it’s going smoothly.”

Gao Chao: Suddenly I remembered, I think I bought a watch last year...

A small flame was sparked in his heart.

Despite treating Fu Yu with sincerity, Gao Chao felt this guy was just putting on airs, blatantly treating him like a fool!

He glanced sideways at Fu Yu, deciding that since Fu Yu was playing games with him, he might as well be direct.

After all, whoever fakes it gets embarrassed!

Gao Chao asked, ”Chef Fu, you were invited back for the school anniversary event, weren’t you?”

Fu Yu shook his head: ”Oh, I just came around to join the fun. I was back at school to sign up for the junior title exam when I met an old classmate who invited me to come.”

Li Linfeng just happened to come over at that moment and said with a smile, ”That’s right, Chef Gao, Fu Yu is just here to have fun today.”

Gao Chao’s face turned red and then white. He looked deeply at Fu Yu: Came to play, and then casually showed off your exquisite cooking skills? Never seen anyone show off like this!

Fu Yu sighed, looking apologetically at Gao Chao: Look at this mess, sorry for pretending in front of you.

Gao Chao: ”...”

The way the two of them looked and laughed at each other left Li Linfeng rather moved, thinking this must be a meeting of like-minded souls.

Not far away, Chen Xinwei was discussing with Li He: ”Principal Li, can you send me a copy of the cooking performance video from earlier?”

Li He was stunned: ”Is there any use for it?”

Chen Xinwei explained, ”Last time, during the chef competition, Fu Yu showed an amazing deboning skill. After watching it, I felt I gained a lot. Just now during the cooking demonstration, the camera didn’t focus on Fu Yu at first. I want to see his cooking method for the golden crispy meat to see if there’s anything I can learn.”

Li He: ”...Sure, but he was just following Qiu Jingxiu’s recipe. Instead of watching the video, why not take a copy of the recipe and study it?”

Chen Xinwei shook his head: ”You don’t understand. Once you watch the video, you’ll get it.”

They were in the middle of talking when Director Chen hurriedly rushed over.

”Principal, the leaders from the City Education Bureau are here!”

Li He was taken aback: ”Oh! Why are they here?”

A few days ago, Li He had specifically greeted the leaders of the education bureau, sincerely inviting them to join the school celebration, but at the time, they all said they had commitments and couldn’t make it.

Li He thought it was a done deal.

But unexpectedly, they actually came!

Li He couldn’t worry about anything else and quickly went to greet them personally.

Along with him was Chen Xinwei.

After all, Chen Xinwei was a renowned local cuisine master, and his presence gave the school celebration an impressive scale and novelty.

Simultaneously, Li He had Director Chen quickly invite Qiu Jingxiu over, leading a group of people to welcome the guests in full force.

Four leaders from the education bureau had come, along with a reporter from the city TV station.

The leaders’ attendance seemed to have a purpose, with reporters taking photos, suggesting extensive promotion afterward.

Promotions surely require materials.

So Li He accompanied the leaders through the food street, leading them to the performance stage.

Among the group, the highest-ranking leader asked with interest, ”When do the performances start?”

Staff on stage were busy tidying up.

When Fu Yu and Gao Chao were cooking earlier, they left the cooking station a mess, and several people were busy cleaning it up and moving the station back to the teaching building.

Before Li He could answer, the accompanying reporter hurriedly said, ”Great, we can record the performance, it suits the theme of this issue perfectly.”

The education bureau leaders had this intention, smiling as they spoke, ”Perfect, we’ll watch the performance before leaving.”

Li He: ”!”

Director Chen: ”!!”

Director Chen looked at Li He: Principal, what should we do?

Li He: What else can we do? Quickly follow the instructions!”

While Li He was talking with the education bureau leaders, Director Chen hurriedly called his team, first informing the people cleaning the stage to stop dismantling the cooking stations and to quickly replenish the ingredients and seasonings.

As a result of this delay, the original three cooking stations were reduced to just one.

But that was the least of their problems.

The staff dispatched to find Qiu Jingxiu soon returned to report that after her event performance, she had already left.

Director Chen suddenly found himself in a bind.

He rushed to call Qiu Jingxiu, but he couldn’t get through at all.

Unable to reach Qiu Jingxiu, Director Chen was anxiously pacing in circles.

Right then, Chen Xinwei, standing nearby, suggested, ”If it really won’t work, let Fu Yu go on stage. At least we can get through it.”

Director Chen stopped abruptly, seeing no other option.

Fu Yu was notified just as he was about to leave.

Li Linfeng was accompanying Fu Yu towards the school gate when they were stopped midway.

”Chef Fu! The leaders from the education bureau are here, Director Zhao needs your help for another stage performance!”

Fu Yu: ”!?”
