The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 358: Chapter 357: Bringing Up the Awkward Topic

Fu Yu added oil to the pot, and once it was slightly heated, he poured in the walnut kernels.

As the walnuts were stir-fried in the oil, releasing a faint nutty aroma, Gao Chao couldn’t help feeling a bit worried and tense.

Because when he usually made walnut snacks, they mainly involved amber walnuts.

Coated with a layer of syrup, they tasted crispy and delicious.

However, directly frying them like this, the walnut skin was already quite dark, and any slight misjudgment of the heat would definitely affect the color of the ingredients.

Thinking about this, Gao Chao inexplicably felt a bit of excitement, wanting to see how Fu Yu controlled the heat.

Fu Yu turned his head: ”Get me a small bowl, no water at the bottom.”

Fu Yu was just about to take out the walnuts that had been fried to a golden brown from the pot when he saw Gao Chao bring over a large and a small bowl.

The small one was for the walnuts, and the large one was meant to hold the oil that the walnuts were fried in.

Fu Yu paused for a moment, then praised appreciatively: ”Not bad, you help me drain the oil.”

Gao Chao hurriedly reached out for the slotted spoon, watching as Fu Yu poured the walnuts onto it.

He couldn’t help but look at Fu Yu.

Did Fu Yu just compliment him?

It sounded quite normal, just a casual word of praise, but... why did he feel a bit smugly happy?

Gao Chao couldn’t help but lift the corners of his mouth, carefully draining the oil from the walnuts, placing them in the small bowl for later use.

Fu Yu left a little of the oil from the fried walnuts in the pot, then added diced pork fat to sauté, until it shrunk.

Once the pork fat was rendered, he added minced ginger and garlic to infuse aroma, then stir-fried the marinated chicken cubes.

The host couldn’t help but ask: ”Chef Fu, why is pork fat used in this braised chicken?”

Fu Yu was busy with the cooking and didn’t respond.

Beside him, Gao Chao said: ”Compared to regular vegetable oil, animal fat has an irreplaceable special aroma that can enhance people’s appetite.”

”Moreover, adding pork fat makes the dish even more fragrant.”

At this moment, the chicken cubes in the pot were ready. Fu Yu added green peppers and a bit of soy sauce for a quick fry.

Now it was time for the crucial part of the cooking.

To ensure the ingredients were evenly heated, Fu Yu began to flip the pan.

His stance was standard, with his hands coordinating perfectly, fully engaging wrist and arm strength, precisely achieving a beautiful posture, accurate and nimble pan-flipping technique.

His right hand held the ladle, pressing the back end of the ingredients tightly against the bottom, pushing forward slightly to toss them up, then letting them fall back into the pot.

Watching the ingredients elegantly flip in the air, Gao Chao couldn’t help but silently praise in his heart, Amazing!

At this point, the cameraman perfectly captured a close-up of the scene.

Fu Yu’s flipping technique was extremely proficient!

His actions were as precise as a textbook illustration, each movement was like a flawless replication... The elegance and skill exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Gao Chao watched in awe.

This level of skill must come from rigorous pan-flipping training...

Chen Xinwei felt a chill run down his spine, this guy’s culinary foundation is indeed solid.

Principal Li and the education bureau’s leaders watched in awe, no wonder he was on stage for a cooking demonstration, this dish was undeniably pleasing to the eye!

Li Linfeng sighed: This guy, showing off again!

Zhao Bingbing and the other female students had their attention entirely focused on Fu Yu’s handsome face!

With looks like that, his culinary skills must be outstanding!

Wow, truly exceptional!

Fu Yu casually added the walnut kernels, salt, and a bit of chili sauce.

After cooking until the flavors infused, he added a dash of vinegar and sprinkled with scallions.

As Fu Yu finished stir-frying, Gao Chao quickly handed over a rounded deep ceramic plate to hold the dish, placing it in the most convenient spot for Fu Yu to plate.

Fu Yu nodded, feeling at ease with Gao Chao’s cooperation.

Though he could cook the dish by himself, having a capable assistant saved a lot of steps and unnecessary hassle.

With Gao Chao assisting, Fu Yu cooked more smoothly.

While plating, Fu Yu carefully arranged the food.

Piling the chicken cubes and walnuts into a small mound, garnishing them evenly with green scallions and slightly red bell peppers.

At first glance, it looked neat and pleasing to the eye.

But upon closer inspection, one would find each scallion piece and bell pepper was delicately placed between the walnuts and chicken cubes; a bit more would seem disorderly, a bit less would affect the overall appearance.

This whole process heavily tested the chef’s plating skills.

Fu Yu casually showcased his plating prowess.

Gao Chao stood by, utterly stunned.

Awesome!

[Ding! You’ve gained 5 favorability points from NPC chef Gao Chao]

Fu Yu: ”...”

Regarding this dish’s cooking, neither Gao Chao, Director Chen, nor even Principal Li watching from below with the education bureau leaders had much confidence.

Braising chicken isn’t a particularly difficult dish.

But this Yangbi Walnut Chicken, since it hadn’t been seen before, seemed very unique.

Adding the fact that reporters from the city’s TV station and leaders from the education bureau were watching nearby, it was indeed quite stressful for the performers on stage.

Yet Fu Yu’s flawless performance allowed everyone present to relax inside.

The reporters had already rushed to the stage, hastily holding up their microphones for interviews as the cooking wrapped up.

”Chef Fu, could you please introduce this Yangbi Walnut Chicken to everyone?”

The cameraman timely focused the lens on Fu Yu’s handsome face.

Fu Yu smiled modestly at the camera, saying: ”Yangbi Walnut Chicken is a delicacy with walnuts and chicken breast as the main ingredients. It supplements the lungs and kidneys, brightens the eyes, and is suitable for people with both lung and kidney deficiency causing fatigue and lack of luster; even healthy individuals can eat it to resist aging.”

”The dish is characterized by crispy walnut kernels and tender chicken cubes...”

The young and handsome chef, dressed in clean, tidy attire, spoke eloquently to the camera.

The scene was both beautiful and exceptionally captivating.

When Fu Yu finished speaking, the reporter nodded with a smile and casually asked: ”But, since today’s performance features a dish by the famous chef Qiu Jingxiu, why isn’t Teacher Qiu present?”

At that moment, the atmosphere on stage suddenly grew tense!

Is this reporter an idiot?

Why bring up the issue everyone wants to avoid?

If Qiu Jingxiu isn’t here, she must have a special reason!

The host couldn’t help but interject: ”Teacher Qiu already appeared during the previous cooking demonstration.”

Gao Chao frowned, feeling worried.

How should this question be answered?

Below the stage, Principal Li and Chen Xinwei couldn’t help but look at Director Chen.

Director Chen was sweating nervously, but he was also at a loss, cursing internally: Looking at me won’t help! I’m not the one on stage...

Gao Chao stepped back half a pace to avoid the camera, focusing intently within.

Anyway, he’s just an assistant chef; the head chef should handle this.

At that moment, everyone’s attention was focused on Fu Yu.
