The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

At 7 PM, Mr. Qin and his team rushed back to the criminal investigation unit with the blood samples urgently retrieved from out of town.

As soon as the police car drove into the courtyard, they saw Political Commissioner Li, Director Hou, and Jiang An already standing at the door waiting.

Mr. Qin felt a surge of warmth in his heart, opening the door and stepping out before the car had even come to a full stop, he quickly walked forward to meet them.

He raised the evidence bag in his hand, his tone unwavering with a hint of excitement, ”Leaders, this trip was worth it—we brought back the real deal!”

He lightly shook the well-sealed sample in his hand and continued, ”This is the blood sample of Deng Juan’s parents, and I will immediately send it to the lab for comparison.”

”Once we get the results, we will have a breakthrough in the case!”

Upon hearing this, Political Commissioner Li’s previously furrowed eyebrows relaxed.

He couldn’t hide his excitement as he heavily patted Mr. Qin on the shoulder, his voice filled with uncontrollable enthusiasm.

”This test result is crucial.”

”Once we can accurately determine the identity of the deceased, our subsequent investigation will have a clear direction, and this will definitely be a major breakthrough!”

Director Hou and Jiang An nodded in agreement simultaneously.

At this moment, everyone pinned their hopes of solving the case on the imminent test results.

Once the samples arrived at the lab, the processing proceeded unusually swiftly.

The laboratory personnel clearly understood the importance of the samples and prioritized their processing.

In less than an hour, the test results were already completed.

The glasses-wearing lab technician, holding an analysis report, quickly walked into the meeting room with a tone of excitement, ”Commissioner, Captain, the results are out, and there’s a match!”

”Are you certain? Absolutely certain?”

Mr. Qin eagerly inquired.

The technician nodded vigorously, his tone very certain, ”Absolutely certain! We employed the most rigorous comparison methods, extracting gene samples from the deceased’s bones and conducting a comprehensive comparison with the site’s blood genes.”

”The results show that all gene sequences matched completely, with no discrepancies.”

This confirmed result led everyone present to instinctively glance at one another, then smiles of relief spread across each of their faces.

Political Commissioner Li exhaled a long breath, his tone full of emotion, ”Such a result couldn’t be better.”

”If we can confirm that the deceased is indeed Deng Juan, then based on the clue that she left school with the purpose of seeking a job, it is very likely she was lured by criminals under the guise of recruitment.”

”In this way, the crime scene and the criminal trajectory can be traced in succession, allowing the entire case investigation to proceed smoothly.”

Jiang An nodded steadily after hearing this and added, ”Political Commissioner Li has analyzed it correctly.”

”From a criminal psychology perspective, graduates like Deng Juan have relatively insufficient social experience and a weaker sense of security.”

”If criminals lure them under the guise of high-paying jobs or reputable company recruitment, it is indeed easy to succeed. However,”

his tone suddenly became serious, ”we have only solved the primary question of ’who she is’.”

”Next, we face a more complex task—to determine ’how she died,’ and most importantly, ’who the murderer is’.”

”These two questions will be the focus and difficulty of our next steps.”

Upon hearing this, Director Hou, Political Commissioner Li, and Mr. Qin all simultaneously wore a somber expression, as if shrouded by an invisible shadow.

The office atmosphere was tense, with the ticking clock on the wall seemingly pounding on their taut nerves every second.

Director Hou stood by the window, looking at the overcast sky outside, speaking in a low tone, ”The peripheral investigation has been ongoing for some time, but so far, there’s been no breakthrough progress.”

”I wonder how Li Biao’s fieldwork is going? Haven’t they returned yet?”

Political Commissioner Li nodded slightly, his fingers unconsciously tapping on the table, ”I’ll contact him now to see if they have any new discoveries.”

He picked up the desk phone and skillfully dialed Li Biao’s number.

The waiting tone on the line sounded particularly clear in the quiet office.

At this moment, Li Biao was leading his team conducting inspections at a certain vegetable market.

When the mobile phone rang, he glanced at the caller ID and quickly walked to a relatively quiet corner to answer it.

”Commissioner.”

”Li Biao, how’s the progress on your end?”

Li Biao wiped the fine sweat from his forehead and reported, ”We’ve completed inspections at about two-thirds of the shops.”

”Most merchants are self-shipping, with transport vehicles mostly arranged through online platforms for out-of-town shipments, but some larger merchants have their own transport vehicles.”

”Have you noticed anything unusual during the inspections?” Political Commissioner Li asked.

”Not so far,” Li Biao said with a hint of helplessness in his tone, ”The merchants’ responses are cooperative and natural, without any apparent flaws.”

”Alright, thank you for your hard work. Continue the inspections, and be especially mindful of details that seem normal but might actually be problematic,” Political Commissioner Li advised.

”Understood, Commissioner. These are seasoned detectives, we’re well aware of these investigative key points.”

After finishing, Li Biao paused briefly and added, ”However, Commissioner, I have a concern.”

”Isn’t this wide coverage of investigations inefficient?”

”It’s like searching for a needle in a haystack. If the suspects have particularly good psychological resilience and perform flawlessly under routine questioning, aren’t we likely to miss important leads?”

Li Biao’s words expressed the deep-seated concern shared by all detectives present.

In the intricate criminal investigation work, they are not only racing against time but also contending with the suspect’s superior counter-surveillance skills.

Political Commissioner Li was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, ”Your concern is not without merit.”

”However, it is precisely through such meticulous inspections that we can capture the subtle anomalies beneath the seemingly calm surface.”

After hanging up, Li Biao took a deep breath and re-engaged in the fieldwork.

In the meeting room, Political Commissioner Li’s originally tense expression became even more severe, his brows furrowed as if bearing substantial pressure.

”What Li Biao has observed certainly cannot be overlooked. Our current inspection method covers a wide area but lacks specificity, akin to finding a lost needle in a vast sea. Not only is it inefficient, but it might also result in losing critical clues.”

He said this while looking up at Jiang An, who had been standing silently by.

”Mr. Jiang, the issue raised by Li Biao is sharp. He believes our current inspection method is ineffective and possibly futile.”

At this point, Director Hou also took a step forward, adding with a serious expression, ”Exactly.”

”This case has dragged on for a long time, with physical evidence lost and memories blurred. If we continue using conventional methods for a high-profile investigation, not only will it be difficult to progress, but it might also alert and prepare the real suspects.”

”Moreover, given the passage of time, even if we re-examine the vehicles involved back then and find some residual traces, linking these micro-evidences directly to the case is challenging, with their legal validity questionable.”

These words plunged the entire office into brief silence, with everyone deep in thought.

Amidst this silence, Jiang An suddenly looked up, a decisive gleam in his eyes.

He lightly tapped the table, speaking steadily, ”Actually, I’ve been contemplating a possible direction.”

”Although this method may not be fully developed, it might open up new ideas for us.”

As soon as he spoke, Director Hou and Political Commissioner Li almost simultaneously blurted out, ”What method?”

The two exchanged glances and then looked toward Jiang An with urgency in their eyes.

Director Hou couldn’t help but step forward, urging in a hurried tone, ”Mr. Jiang, whatever ideas you have, quickly share them so we can discuss!”

Mr. Qin also grasped Jiang An’s arm, ”Yes, Mr. Jiang, if you have any good ideas, don’t hold back!”

Jiang An surveyed everyone, took a deep breath, and began to explain...
