The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Immediately, Mr. Qin said, ”Exactly! There is a prevalent phenomenon in the industry where large trucks ’try not to brake’.”

The reason is that emergency braking severely damages brake pads, and the resulting high repair costs may even exceed the insurance cost increase due to accidents.”

This phenomenon causes many drivers to avoid emergency braking while driving, which poses safety risks.”

Political Commissioner Li, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but admire Jiang An’s keen insight in the case analysis.

I really didn’t expect Mr. Jiang to use the information about the victim’s fractures to this extent.”

Your previous deduction of the accident pattern based on skeletal damage left a deep impression on me. Now, facing a pile of scattered White Bone, you can further interpret such specific and pointed vehicle trace information, it truly makes one admire you.”

Mr. Qin also chuckled self-deprecatingly and said, ”It’s embarrassing to admit, although we are both captains of the criminal investigation team, the depth and breadth of your case analysis really put us to shame.”

Jiang An, upon hearing this, responded humbly, ”You both flatter me.”

This is not a difference in rank, but rather a distinction in each professional field.”

As the saying goes, ’Each profession has its specialty.’ In grasping investigative directions and actual combat strikes, your rich experience is what I need to learn from.”

Mr. Qin, however, waved his hand repeatedly, ”Don’t say that, this case still needs your guidance.”

If I were really so proficient back then, maybe the case would have been solved long ago, and it wouldn’t have been left unresolved until now.”

Jiang An aptly drew the topic back on track, adopting a serious tone: ”Since time is pressing, let’s skip the pleasantries.”

Next, we’ll immediately follow the division of labor to conduct visits and inspections of vehicle repair records, hoping to find a breakthrough as soon as possible.”

After saying this, he turned his head to look at the distant stretch of hills, his gaze thoughtful.

The mountain ahead doesn’t appear particularly high; I just wonder if there’s a ready path to walk?”

Mr. Qin responded, ”There are indeed a few small paths in the mountain; occasionally, hiking enthusiasts would come here to climb.”

If that’s the case,” he picked up the conversation with a determined tone, ”I plan to follow the mountain’s contours to see, cross the mountain, and see what it really looks like on the other side, and what places are there.”

Upon hearing this, Political Commissioner Li and Mr. Qin were taken aback, exchanging glances, unable to immediately respond.

Even the usually composed Director Hou slightly furrowed his brow, showing a hint of disbelief.

Although the mountain doesn’t seem particularly treacherous from afar, looking far into the distance, the mountains are layered and undulating.

To walk it completely would cover no less than ten kilometers, which cannot be accomplished easily in a short time.

Moments later, Mr. Qin finally spoke, with a hint of uncertainty in his voice, ”Mr. Jiang, are you sure you want to trek over that mountain on foot?”

It’s actually not low, and the journey is long, I’m worried...”

Before he could finish, Jiang An’s lips turned up slightly, showing a poised smile: ”I often run ten-kilometer marathons before, stamina shouldn’t be an issue.”

More importantly, I want to walk it personally and examine carefully along the way to see if we can discover some clues we currently overlook.”

Pausing, his expression gradually became serious and continued to explain: ”Now, we are in a location very near where the victim was buried, but where did she come from?”

It’s very possible the person was forced to escape in some emergency, panicking and choosing a path without thinking.”

Therefore, I want to walk up this mountain to see what villages are connected along the way and if there’s a chance to find clues.”

At this point, Political Commissioner Li slightly twitched his lips, hesitantly reminding, ”Wouldn’t this be too cumbersome?”

Nowadays, the precision of mobile maps is very high; even villages and small paths can be displayed clearly, perhaps we could first make a rough judgment from the map?”

Jiang An, however, gently shook his head, still gazing toward the distant mountain.

Some details, if we only rely on maps, images, or written materials, might not allow truly feeling the atmosphere on site and could easily overlook those subtle but crucial traces in the actual environment.”

Mr. Qin patted him on the shoulder and said, ”I’ll go with you!”

Political Commissioner Li pondered for a moment, slowly nodded, and said solemnly, ”Since Mr. Jiang insists on taking this trip in person, I have no reason to oppose.”

However, this section of the mountain road, though not long, has many rocks and steep slopes; it’s not easy to walk.”

Your shoes—” He paused, looking down at their shoes, ”Mr. Qin’s hiking boots are professional, but Mr. Jiang, your leather shoes might not be suitable.”

Jiang An glanced at his dusty leather shoes and smiled indifferently, ”Don’t worry, Commissioner, the shoes are secondary, the heart is primary.”

Even if today’s shoes walk until they come apart, if it helps find clues to confirm the victim’s identity, it’s worth it to wear them out.”

At this moment, Director Hou stepped forward, lightly patting Jiang An on the shoulder with a bit of sentiment, saying, ”You’ve worked hard.”

At my age, my legs aren’t as young as yours, I won’t follow you into the mountain to struggle.”

I will stay in the command center, coordinating investigations in other directions and focusing on sorting out recent types of cases—especially records involving trafficking of women and children and abnormal vehicle repairs.”
