The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Very quickly, under the confession of the criminal nicknamed ”Lao San,” the investigation team swiftly identified the six key members of the trafficking syndicate.

Not long after, these six individuals were apprehended in a coordinated operation and loaded onto police vehicles.

Shortly after they were taken into custody, the walkie-talkie in Political Commissioner Li’s hand suddenly crackled with an urgent report.

”Report, Commissioner, we have discovered a woman with a child here, and preliminary confirmation suggests she is related to Wu Guang. Requesting permission to arrest!”

”Proceed with the arrest immediately!”

Before the voice had faded, another group’s investigator quickly followed up, ”My team has spotted an elderly person ahead, with distinct features. It is highly suspected to be Wu Guang himself!”

”Proceed with the arrest immediately!”

The series of messages coming through the walkie-talkie was like a shot in the arm, lifting the spirits of everyone present.

Political Commissioner Li gripped the walkie-talkie tightly, his voice loud and fervent.

Then he turned around, scanning his gaze past Director Hou and Jiang An, and said resolutely, ”This time, we can claim a decisive victory!”

”Based on the information we have, all six core members revealed by Lao San have been apprehended.”

Upon hearing these words, Director Hou and Jiang An exchanged relieved smiles.

Standing nearby, Mr. Qin felt a tumult of emotions.

For him, though the smooth resolution of the case was certainly gratifying, his thoughts were preoccupied with the unresolved position of deputy director.

After all, he had been working in criminal investigation for many years, and considering his qualifications, capabilities, and age, it seemed it was time for a step up.

Unable to contain his excitement, he stepped forward and suggested to Political Commissioner Li, ”Commissioner, this case is significant and severe. I suggest we promptly compile the materials and report to the provincial department immediately!”

Upon hearing this, Political Commissioner Li raised his hand and gave his shoulder a gentle pat, with a hint of deeper meaning: ”Mr. Qin, you must mind your standing and awareness.”

”Isn’t the superior leader right here with us?”

”Where else would you report it?”

Mr. Qin was momentarily stunned, then realizing his oversight, he tapped his forehead with self-mockery in his tone, ”Look at me, letting victory get to my head, forgetting that Director Hou is right here! My actions were unnecessary.”

Director Hou witnessed this and waved his hand with a smile, his tone composed yet firm as he took over the conversation.

”Mr. Qin, you can’t put it that way.”

”We were assigned by superiors to assist with the case, so procedural matters cannot be sloppy.”

”For major cases with severe societal impacts like this, we must strictly adhere to regulations and report through official channels to the superiors.”

”This is the basic principle of our work, and it shows our responsibility towards our duties.”

”Yes, yes, Director Hou is right!”

Political Commissioner Li nodded affirmatively, then turned to Mr. Qin and decisively instructed, ”Then proceed according to Director Hou’s advice, prepare the materials and report according to the stipulated procedures.”

At this moment, Political Commissioner Li slowly turned his head, his gaze falling on Jiang An’s face.

He noticed Jiang An’s furrowed brow, deeply knitted into a ”川” character.

After a moment of contemplation, Political Commissioner Li spoke solemnly, ”Mr. Jiang, your contributions were vital for the breakthrough in this case’s investigation.”

”On behalf of the entire municipal police force, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you.”

Jiang An’s mouth twitched slightly, as if he wanted to say something but held it back.

He shook his head lightly, his voice low yet clear, ”Commissioner Li, you overpraise me.”

”The progress of this case is due to the relentless efforts of the entire task force.”

”I merely did my duty.”

He paused, his tone suddenly turning grave, ”However, I am pondering whether the girl who escaped from the village might be one of the trafficked victims?”

”If that is truly the case...”

Upon hearing these words, Director Hou unconsciously clenched his relaxed fingers.

Political Commissioner Li’s smile froze instantly, and Mr. Qin sat up straight abruptly.

The three exchanged glances, each seeing the same shock and heaviness reflected in the others’ eyes.

Political Commissioner Li was the first to break the silence, ”It is indeed so.”

”If the girl is truly one of the trafficked women, we can trace this line to swiftly locate the deceased’s family and confirm her identity.”

Director Hou sighed softly, ”She might already have turned into a handful of ashes...”

”But at least, we can help her find her way home and let her soul rest in peace.”

These words plunged the entire meeting room into a momentary silence, with everyone feeling the heavy responsibility on their shoulders.

Very soon, the task force sprang into action, bringing all involved personnel into the city’s police interrogation rooms in batches.

Political Commissioner Li and Mr. Qin personally led the key interrogation efforts, with the interrogation rooms’ lights remaining on deep into the night.

Under professional, systematic questioning and solid evidence, the psychological defenses of the involved individuals gradually collapsed.

At 6:00 a.m., with the sky still dark, all suspects had provided truthful confessions.

Political Commissioner Li and Mr. Qin pushed the door open and entered the meeting room, their eyes bloodshot but showing a sense of relief.

”Director Hou, Mr. Jiang, they have confessed to participating in human trafficking crimes.”

”Over the past five years, this gang has abducted 27 girls successively.”

”According to what was confessed, only one girl managed to escape.”

He paused, ”According to our information, the escaped girl is very likely the White Bone we discovered in the mountain valley.”
