The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

The leap in logic of this deduction is truly too large, making it hard to accept at first.

After a brief silence, Political Commissioner Li looked up and exchanged a meaningful glance with Director Hou.

Director Hou slightly shook his head, a hint of helplessness on his lips: ”Isn’t this speculation a bit too bold? Could it be that your imagination is running wild?”

Jiang An took a deep breath and continued, ”Political Commissioner Li, Director Hou, I completely understand your doubts.”

”To be honest, we also hope this is just a false alarm.”

”But we have found many suspicious aspects during our on-site investigation in the village.”

”While the absence of young people in the village could be explained by working elsewhere, the villagers’ reactions when we asked about the whereabouts of young women were highly suspicious.”

”They uniformly claimed they went to pick tea leaves, but it’s not the tea-picking season right now.”

”This explanation, full of holes, has only made us more certain that the village is hiding unspeakable secrets.”

”Therefore, we have stayed to observe in secret.”

”At the same time, please send backup immediately, so that if illegal activities are confirmed here, we can intercept and capture the culprits at once.”

Political Commissioner Li and Director Hou were initially filled with some doubts and amazement.

But after listening to Jiang An’s clear and methodical analysis, both of them couldn’t help but tense up, exchanging a glance, almost simultaneously realizing that there might be a hidden truth behind these seemingly bizarre speculations that they had yet to uncover.

Political Commissioner Li pondered for a moment before decisively asking, ”Which village are you at now? Send the specific location.”

”It’s not marked on electronic maps.”

These words made Director Hou immediately alert, his eyebrows furrowed, ”How can a place be so remote that it can’t even be located on a map?”

”Could it have already exceeded the surveying range of Google and Baidu satellite maps? This is too unusual.”

”The village is hidden deep in the forest, with complex terrain and dense vegetation, very secluded.”

Jiang An further explained, ”We will leave marks at several key points later, which should help the following teams find the path.”

Political Commissioner Li gravely reminded, ”Always pay attention to safety!”

”The other party is very likely armed, and you two are going solo without guns; you must be very cautious during the operation.”

Mr. Qin chuckled lightly after hearing this, his tone relaxed, ”Political Commissioner Li, don’t worry, since we’ve chosen to venture into danger, we’ve been mentally prepared long ago.”

”A man with ambition roams across lands; how can he live up to his responsibility without achieving something?”

”Spit, spit – but rest assured, I’ll definitely come back safe and sound.”

Hearing his half-joking yet determined response, Political Commissioner Li couldn’t help but soften his tone, half encouraging, half-serious, saying: ”After you come back, behave yourself. The Deputy Director position is still vacant, waiting for you.”

Upon hearing this, he immediately laughed and replied, ”Really, Commissioner?”

”Then, by all means, I have to return alive – I take the Deputy Director position very seriously!”

After hanging up the phone, a spark of excitement flashed in Mr. Qin’s eyes.

Although Political Commissioner Li’s words carried some motivational elements, the words ”Deputy Director” no doubt injected a new burst of vigor in him.

Seeing this, Jiang An also smiled and patted him on the shoulder, his tone filled with congratulations and camaraderie, ”Congratulations! Mr. Qin, it seems like you’re not far from the Deputy Director position.”

Mr. Qin collected his smile, asking seriously, ”What’s our next move?”

Jiang An turned to look behind him, confirming that there was no one within view, ”Let’s advance a bit further and find a suitable place to hide.”

”This is the only path, and if they’re planning to move personnel, they’ll certainly pass through here.”

”Alright.”

Mr. Qin nodded seriously, and the two exchanged a tacit glance before silently melding into the shadows of the dense forest one after the other.

The thick foliage quickly obscured their figures, as if completely swallowing them into this deep green barrier.

Staying hidden wasn’t easy; mosquitoes occasionally landed on their necks and hands, causing itches with their bites.

But they remained absolutely still, forcing themselves to endure even the slightest itch without moving.

Any slight noise could expose their location, causing the entire operation plan to fail.

An hour passed, and the dusk sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground.

As the day was turning darker, a hum of an electric motor suddenly came from afar.

Mr. Qin and Jiang An immediately held their breath, pressing their bodies lower.

A motor scooter wound its way up the mountain path, with two men sitting on it, holding equipment that resembled detection tools.

They drove while vigilantly scanning their surroundings, seemingly searching for something.

As the scooter passed their hiding spot, Mr. Qin whispered, almost in a breath, ”Mr. Jiang, your judgment was spot on.”

”They are indeed checking the area, confirming if we have already left.”

Jiang An nodded slightly, his gaze fixed on the departing scooter, ”These people are very cautious. If they find we are still nearby, they won’t take any action.”

Mr. Qin added understandingly, ”Looks like there will be a ’storm’ tonight.”

The two exchanged a knowing glance, maintaining their concealed posture.

As night fell, visibility in the forest rapidly declined.

The already dim woods now were shrouded in deep twilight, with distant objects becoming blurred.

Just then, Mr. Qin’s phone screen suddenly lit up, showing a message from Political Commissioner Li: ”Based on the route you provided, we have set up an ambush 200 meters away from you.”

”Please continue to stay hidden, and I’ll notify you immediately if any suspicious vehicles or personnel appear.”

A few seconds later, another message came: ”Remember, you are not armed, prioritize safety, and do not act rashly.”

As the night deepened, the forest sank into even deeper silence, interrupted only by the occasional bird call.

In this tranquility, the loud roar of an engine suddenly reverberated from afar – this time louder and closer than before.

In the quiet night, the sound was exceptionally abrupt.

Mr. Qin immediately became alert, whispering, ”They’re here.”

”It seems they are starting to act. We need to notify Political Commissioner Li and the others right away.”

Jiang An nodded calmly, ”Send the signal.”

Mr. Qin quickly typed a message on his phone: ”The fish is about to bite; all teams prepare to close the net.”

After pressing send, they both took a deep breath, focusing all their attention on the distant noise, waiting for the critical moment to arrive.

Political Commissioner Li and Director Hou grabbed their walkie-talkies almost simultaneously after receiving the encrypted signal from the front-line scouts.

Political Commissioner Li took a deep breath and said softly, ”Attention all teams, attention all teams, this is the command center. ’The fish’ is about to enter the designated area, repeat, ’The fish’ is about to enter the designated area.”

”All units immediately go to level one alert status, check weapons and equipment, maintain communication, and be ready for the net-closing operation at any moment!”

As the directive was being passed on, the light before Jiang An grew stronger, accompanied by the heavy diesel engine’s roar, getting closer, sounding unusually sharp in the silent night sky.

Five minutes later, when the white container truck finally appeared fully in view, the two held their breath simultaneously.

The truck had evidently undergone special modifications, with a raised chassis and reinforced front, showcasing its uniqueness.

The most noticeable part was the sealed container, with no windows or ventilation on its surface.

The truck moved at high speed along the road in front of the abandoned factory district, the tire crunching on gravel echoing in the night air.

A black motorcycle escorted the truck at both front and rear, with riders in all-black riding gear, helmets on.

Jiang An immediately recognized them as the two ”riders” who came during the day under the guise of ”road inspection.”

They kept scanning left and right, their right hands ever on their waists.

As the truck passed the hiding spot, Jiang An pulled out his phone, pressing the speed dial.

”Political Commissioner Li, the target has passed the monitoring point.”

”The container is well-sealed, making it impossible to determine the internal situation, but both front and back have armed escorts, intercept immediately in front.”

On the other end, Political Commissioner Li responded, ”Received.”
