The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”Exclude?”

Mr. Qin nearly rose from his seat, unable to conceal his excitement in his tone.

”This hypothesis is our most traceable direction right now, why exclude it?”

”Do you have any basis?”

In his view, mental illness is the most direct and clinically psychologically suitable explanation for the deceased’s unusual attire.

If not for a mental disorder, how would a modern woman appear at the scene with such an image?

Not just Mr. Qin, the other officers present also showed astonished expressions.

Political Commissioner Li leaned forward, tapping his notebook unconsciously, and pursued the matter: ”Mr. Jiang, please elaborate.”

”We really don’t understand, on what grounds do you want to exclude this seemingly reasonable possibility?”

Even Director Hou, usually calm, furrowed his eyebrows slightly, revealing an expression of undisguised confusion, clearly troubled by the contradictions in this case.

Seeing this, Jiang An slowly began his analysis: ”In the early stages of this case, I believe everyone conducted quite thorough and meticulous on-site investigations, and the investigation of the surrounding area should have been comprehensive.”

”If the deceased indeed had mental health issues, then she highly likely would have been a resident nearby.”

”Imagine, an emotionally unstable individual leaving home without shoes, appearing dazed and behaving strangely, it would be hard not to attract attention in the community.”

”Yet, it’s puzzling that, for one, no family has come to report her missing, as if she had no ties in this world.”

”On the other hand, I trust that years ago, the task force must have focused their investigations around the ’suspicious girl’ lead, yet to no avail.”

He paused briefly and looked around at everyone present, speaking with even greater certainty: ”Doesn’t this precisely indicate that the possibility of the deceased being a local or nearby resident is actually fairly low?”

Hearing this, Mr. Qin’s eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but praise the deduction.

”You know, this angle of reasoning is indeed insightful!”

”We used the Crime Scene as our center back then, expanding the search radius constantly, first to 5 kilometers, then to 10 kilometers, almost turning the surrounding area upside down.”

”But the result? Not only did we fail to lock down any suspicious suspects, but even the deceased’s identity information vanished without a trace.”

”Moreover, when reviewing the missing persons reports from that time, we couldn’t find any records matching the deceased’s age or gender characteristics.”

”Thinking back now, this situation doesn’t quite fit the regular features of a local person being victimized.”

Political Commissioner Li also realized, nodding repeatedly in agreement: ”That’s true!”

”This logic chain is quite complete.”

”If the deceased was suffering from mental illness, according to common sense, her activity range should have been fairly limited, not far from home.”

”Conversely, if she really came from afar, it’s understandable that local residents wouldn’t recognize her, but this leads to a new contradiction—why would a mentally stable person appear alone at this location?”

”Moreover, her attire was so unusual, which doesn’t conform to normal human behavior logic at all!”

These words prompted everyone present to fall into deeper contemplation, and the atmosphere in the lab suddenly became heavy.

Director Hou nodded slightly and spoke slowly: ”After the discussion just now, I think Mr. Jiang’s analysis indeed hits the nail on the head.”

”If we merely assume this woman as a mental illness patient, many details in the case indeed fail to be reasonably explained.”

”Case solving always requires bold ideas and meticulous validation.”

”We attempted a mental illness angle just now, but it indeed conflicts with the overall logic presented by the case.”

Director Hou leaned forward slightly and asked: ”Mr. Jiang, since you’ve excluded the possibility of mental illness, surely you must have substantial rationale for another possibility?”

At this moment, everyone’s gaze involuntarily refocused on Jiang An.

Jiang An nodded calmly, responding steadily: ”Director Hou, you overestimate me.”

”It’s not fully substantial, but based on the clues we have so far, it does point to a relatively clear direction.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the lab atmosphere instantly became more attentive.

Mr. Qin instinctively leaned forward, and several young officers behind him took out their notebooks, ready to take notes.

For this longstanding unsolved case, the discussion at this moment already transcended the case itself, becoming a rare learning opportunity—everyone hoped to glean valuable investigative insights from Mr. Jiang’s analysis.

Jiang An slightly sorted his thoughts and clearly and systematically continued his explanation: ”Earlier, I mainly analyzed the basis for excluding mental illness.”

”Now, having excluded this possibility, let’s change our perspective: if her mental state was normal, then her disheveled state at the time likely suggested she was in an extremely special survival environment.”

”Such an environment might have forced her to leave in haste, without concern about her attire’s appropriateness.”

He paused briefly and then added: ”As for what she encountered that led to her death after leaving, it still remains an unsolved mystery.”
