Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Are you implying Ning Chenyang stole the parts?” Qin Jian accurately grasped Zhang’s meaning through his words.

”No, no, no! Commander, that’s not what I meant. I’m just wildly guessing here! Because yesterday I saw he was very adept and seemed to understand the construction of firearms well. Stealing, definitely not! I was guessing if he maybe found it interesting and ’borrowed’ it to play for a couple of days!” Captain Zhang carefully worded his response.

It’s indeed quite unimaginable to suspect a child.

Especially since the child is the commander’s son!

Last night, he led the whole battalion to search thoroughly, examining every corner without finding anything amiss.

They eliminated everyone else but not the one person they hadn’t investigated, which was the commander’s son who had handled the gun.

Therefore, he spent half the night worried before reluctantly deciding to approach the commander.

He could handle this matter stealthily and avoid any notice entirely. However, in the military, nothing is a small matter, as even a tiny oversight could lead to major problems.

Thus, he decided to report the issue discreetly to the commander himself.

”I understand what you mean. I’ll handle this matter,” Qin Jian took a deep breath, his stiff brows tightly furrowed.

If his son did do this, then he’s being far too bold!

He must properly educate his son.

”Well... then I’ll take my leave, commander?” Captain Zhang, having reported the matter, prepared to exit.

”Wait!” Qin Jian turned around, just in time to see his son moving sluggishly like a little snail toward them, ”Come, you go with me to ask him.”

”This... Yes, sir!”

Ning Chenyang felt somewhat uneasy upon seeing Captain Zhang.

He didn’t know why this uncle came to see his father, but yesterday he did something wrong, making him a little uneasy.

”Ning Chenyang! Run over here!” Qin Jian commanded loudly, striding over while ordering his son to advance at a run.

Seeing his father’s gloomy face so early in the morning, Ning Chenyang had a very bad premonition.

Captain Zhang likely came to complain.

Since his father gave the order, Ning Chenyang didn’t think much and ran over to stand before Qin Jian: ”Dad, why didn’t you wake me up to run together with you?”

Qin Jian ignored his son’s words and directly cut to the chase, extending his hand to Ning Chenyang: ”Hand over the things you hid, the ones that don’t belong to you!”

”Huh?” Ning Chenyang was surprised that his father directly targeted him without even questioning, asking him to hand over the items.

”What ’huh’? You know exactly what I’m talking about!” Qin Jian had ample reason to believe Ning Chenyang was responsible; ever since last time when his son drove a car out of the military district alone, his views on his son’s trouble-making capabilities had reached a new level.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about?” Ning Chenyang blinked cluelessly, looking genuinely puzzled.

Captain Zhang was nearly deceived by Ning Chenyang’s innocent appearance.

”Commander, did I guess wrong? Or is it a misunderstanding?” Captain Zhang thought he might have been too paranoid; after all, could this bold child really have removed gun parts?
