Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”How could this be my doing?” Yan Huan shrugged innocently and said, ”When we were heading down for training, the commander happened to come by and ask about our department’s workload. How it’s going? I merely reported honestly. How the commander decides to arrange things is up to him; what does it have to do with me?”

Of course, Yan Huan wouldn’t admit in front of Qiu Xinyi that she had begged shamelessly for this outcome.

So she had no choice but to tell a lie like this.

However, it couldn’t be entirely blamed on her. Who told Qin Xinyi to wedge herself between her and Ji Chuan, knowing full well they were already engaged?

She even deliberately put on an act for Xiaomei, causing an uninformed Xiaomei to bring back news, sowing discord between them.

Afterward, she purposely wrote those misleading notes and left them in Ji Chuan’s office.

If someone has no shame, they really can do anything.

Yan Huan admitted she wasn’t as clever as An Hao and couldn’t smoothly handle such interpersonal relationships. So when she saw Qiu Xinyi shamelessly clinging to Ji Chuan, the solution she thought of was asking Qin Jian to help transfer Qiu Xinyi elsewhere.

”Yan Huan, don’t think we’re blind to your relationship with Commander Qin...”

”Even if you know, what can you do about it? As soldiers, we must obey orders above all else. Since the commander wants to transfer you, he surely conducted certain investigations. Otherwise, he wouldn’t just transfer you on a whim.” Yan Huan interrupted Qiu Xinyi.

”Don’t be too happy or smug! I’m telling you, if I want to stay here, not just one Qin Jian, even ten Qin Jians won’t be able to move me!” Qiu Xinyi boasted.

”Alright then! Let’s wait and see.” Yan Huan replied nonchalantly.

”We’ll see! Yan Huan!” Qiu Xinyi left with a final word, slamming the door behind her.

Watching Qiu Xinyi’s determined posture, Tan Xiaomei couldn’t help but worry a little, knowing that Qiu Xinyi’s father was a higher-ranking officer in the military than Commander Qin.

”Sister Yan, do you think Commander Qin really has a plan to transfer Qiu Xinyi?”

”Absolutely! Of course, he has a plan!” Yan Huan believed that if Qin Jian said it, he could definitely do it. She had great faith in Qin Jian.

As for why she believed it?

She could only say that there was no reason but to believe!

”But what if Chief Qiu steps in to pressure Commander Qin?” Tan Xiaomei asked, still uneasy.

”I’m sure Commander Qin has a way. I believe he can handle it, otherwise, he wouldn’t be Qin Jian.” Yan Huan’s words were full of confidence.

”Why?” Tan Xiaomei was unsure where her confidence came from.

”No reason, just belief! Unconditional belief!”

...............

Qiu Xinyi’s leave wasn’t short, specially approved by the leadership to take care of the commander’s health. She could return to the team only after the commander fully recovered.

She initially intended to take advantage of her father’s recovery time to get closer to Ji Chuan, but after their last unpleasant encounter, Ji Chuan was avoiding her intentionally.

He avoided her whenever possible and hardly spoke a word when they met.
