Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Ah? The situation between you two really is unfortunate.” Tan Xiaomei clicked her tongue, ”Maybe this is just the way good things often come with challenges? But it’s okay, I see Dr. Ji is deeply in love with you, in the end, he won’t escape from being yours.”

Yan Huan smiled slightly: ”I hope our relationship goes smoothly in the future, without any more hardships.”

”It will go smoothly. When Dr. Ji comes back, you two can happily decorate your new home. At that time, we’ll be waiting to celebrate your marriage.”

”Just wait. I’ll definitely prepare a big share for you.”

The two women were chatting and laughing when the door opened, and Qiu Xinyi walked in. After not seeing her for more than half a month, her presence felt unchanged, still as domineering as ever.

She pushed open the door, sat down with a sullen face, and started boiling water to make tea without saying a word.

Yan Huan and Tan Xiaomei exchanged glances without speaking, and lowered their heads to seriously organize the materials on their phones, preparing to write a report.

Only Qiu Xinyi was leisurely enjoying melon seeds and tea all by herself.

The atmosphere in the room was a bit eerie, with only the creaky sound of the electric fan turning and Qiu Xinyi munching on the seeds.

After a long time, Qiu Xinyi couldn’t hold back anymore. She stood up with a start, kicked away the chair behind her, and aggressively approached Yan Huan, slamming her hands on the table: ”Yan Huan, I really didn’t expect you to play dirty tricks behind my back.”

Yan Huan was startled, almost dropping her pen: ”Qiu Xinyi, is something wrong with you? You’re having a fit in the morning!”

”Let me tell you Yan Huan, stop pretending to be clueless! I used to think you were an upright person, but I didn’t expect you to use connections and sneak through the backdoor!” Qiu Xinyi glared at Yan Huan, swearing, ”If you have the guts, compete openly with me for Ji Chuan! What’s with playing dirty behind the scenes?”

”What are you saying, Qiu Xinyi? This is utterly absurd! Yan Huan and I just got back with the troops, haven’t even warmed the chair, and you’re already attacking us! What do you mean by this? Speak clearly!” Even though Tan Xiaomei felt there was something implied in Qiu Xinyi’s words, Qiu was unwilling to say it, making her words sound like a riddle and unpleasant to hear.

”You’re absurd, Yan Huan is not absurd at all!” Qiu Xinyi crossed her arms, sneering at Yan Huan, ”Relying on your good relationship with Chief Qin, are you thinking you can place me wherever you want?”

Only when Qiu Xinyi said that did Yan Huan catch on to the meaning behind her words.

It seemed that when she went out with the troops, the favor she asked of Qin Jian really had been fulfilled by him.

Yan Huan looked up, her lips curving slightly: ”So? Where is Qiu Xinyi planning to make a grand move? When are you leaving, so that Xiaomei and I can prepare a farewell ceremony for you? After all, we’ve been colleagues, it should be lively regardless, right?”

”So it was you causing trouble!” Qiu Xinyi had suspected it before, but now Yan Huan had admitted it, making her even more furious.

After all, she is the daughter of a military adviser. How could she be treated like a pawn, placed wherever deemed appropriate?
