Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Ji Chuan grinned: ”Actually, there’s a chamber pot under the bed, I could have used that...”

Yan Huan’s eyes widened, and she clenched her fists tightly, really wanting to punch him: ”Are you messing with me? Look at how exhausted I am, helping you to the bathroom with all my strength, and you’re actually happy about it?”

”Yeah, yeah. I’m in a pretty good mood.” Ji Chuan was delighted to see Yan Huan’s angry face, ”You look just like a pufferfish right now.”

”Pfft! Ji Chuan, you are so bad.”

”Angry?” Ji Chuan chuckled, ”You never asked if I could get out of bed or not. Seeing how enthusiastic you were, how could I bear to interrupt my wife’s kindness?”

”So you think you’re right?” Yan Huan glared at him, ”I’m going to punish you.”

”Alright. As long as it makes you happy, you can punish me any way you want!”

”Your punishment is to eat everything I brought tonight without leaving a single bite!” Yan Huan pointed at the full thermos container.

Ji Chuan looked at it and gasped: ”That’s too much, I’m not a food bin, eating all that would make me burst.”

Yan Huan smirked, not pushing him: ”Do as you see fit. Anyway, there’s a reward if you finish, and nothing if you don’t.”

”What kind of reward?” Ji Chuan looked at her with great interest.

”If you finish it all, I’ll stay here with you every night. If not, we’ll discuss it later!”

”For you to stay with me every night, it’s worth it even if I overeat tonight.” Ji Chuan reached out, ”Pass me the chopsticks!”

.....................

The news of Ji Chuan’s injury spread everywhere, even Qin Jian saw it on television.

He made a special trip back to Nancheng to visit him, and since it was summer vacation and Ning Chenyang had no one to supervise him, he planned to take the little guy to the military base for a while.

This was what Ning Chenyang had been looking forward to.

Since he was young, influenced by his grandfather and father, he developed a mysterious fascination with military camps and soldiers, and a near-obsessive love for weapons.

As soon as he heard Qin Jian was back, he got all excited.

”Dad, when are we leaving? Are we going to your division’s headquarters or to the field troops?” Before heading out to the hospital, he was eagerly questioning.

”You plan to go to the field troops just like this?” Qin Jian was amused by his son’s naive idea, ”I think you should train at our division’s guard company for a few days first.”

”No, no! I must go to the reconnaissance company!” Ning Chenyang may be young, but he had big words.

”Do you think the reconnaissance company is a joke? They’re the elite soldiers of the army! They’re the sharp knife of the military!” Qin Jian explained to his son.

”Then I want to be the sharpest of the sharp knives!” His future goal was to become a special forces soldier, just thinking about it filled him with a warm surge in his heart.

”We’ll see what you’re made of!” Qin Jian patted his shoulder, and as he said this, he was already planting the seeds of hope.

He hoped his son could achieve great things in the military and have a wider world than he and his father had!

”Alright, let’s get going! You two stop dawdling! It’s almost nine, weren’t you going to see Ji Chuan?” An Hao, having packed everything, urged the father and son.

The family of three finally came down the stairs and drove to the affiliated hospital.
