Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Why... why?” Ji Chuan didn’t expect Yan Huan to answer so quickly, and so straightforwardly!

”Because... once you’ve experienced the vast ocean, no other waters will suffice...” Yan Huan answered him with a line of poetry.

Having experienced the grandness of the sea, no other waters can attract you.

Having experienced the love Ji Chuan gave, she thought there was no other emotion worth experiencing in this life.

The love Ji Chuan gave, she felt was the best in the world, his love was like a gentle breeze and soft rain opening her heart’s door, like the warm sun in winter warming her cold world, his love was neither hasty nor slack, more of it would be too much, less just slightly cold.

In short, the love he gave was just right.

For her, a woman of a certain age, the love Ji Chuan gave felt both intimate and indulgent. It also made her, someone who never understood or acted coy, feel for the first time that she, too, could act coy, and it was unconsciously so.

Hearing Yan Huan’s answer, Ji Chuan sighed lightly and ruffled the top of her head: ”Hearing you say that, I feel it would be worth dying for.”

Yan Huan raised her eyebrows, lifted her hand to cover his mouth: ”What nonsense are you talking about? I wouldn’t want to never marry out! You must take care of yourself!”

Ji Chuan laughed heartily: ”Alright. I’ll listen to my wife.”

”Mm.” Yan Huan smiled contentedly, leaning close to give Ji Chuan a light kiss on the cheek, ”Good boy! This is your reward!”

”One isn’t enough.” Ji Chuan hooked Yan Huan’s neck and brought his warm lips closer.

”Mmm... you’re sick, and still have the mind to... mmm...”

”I do. As long as it’s you, I do!”

.........

The next morning.

When Yan Ye arrived at the hospital room carrying breakfast, Ji Chuan and Yan Huan were still asleep, cuddled together on a bed less than 1.2 meters wide.

Yan Huan, like an octopus, wrapped her arms and legs around Ji Chuan, while Ji Chuan’s face showed a happy smile, a smile from the heart, sweetness that couldn’t be hidden from the corners of his eyes or brows.

Having known Ji Chuan for so long, it was Yan Ye’s first time seeing him this way.

Seeing the two sleeping so sweetly, with no sign of waking even though it was midmorning, they must have chatted quite a bit last night.

Therefore, Yan Ye didn’t plan to wake them up, leaving them to sleep.

Let them wake up whenever they are ready.

Yan Ye placed the meal on the table and turned to leave. He didn’t want to disturb their rest, but someone did dare to disturb them.

The routine check-up was something doctors had to do every day. Just as Yan Ye left, the doctors doing their rounds came in.

Leading the way was the chief physician, followed by the attending physician, doctors, and interns, a grand procession entering Ji Chuan’s room.

Everyone in the hospital knew about the accident yesterday. At the accident site, a fellow doctor who could have escaped didn’t just think of themselves but stayed to help save people despite being injured.

This spirit was something all colleagues should learn from.

However, when the doctor pushed open the door to this hospital room and saw what was happening in the bed, they each widened their eyes and drew in a sharp breath.

”Wake up, wake up!” Yan Ye’s attending physician stepped forward and patted Yan Huan, waking her from her slumber.

Yan Huan rubbed her eyes, turned over, and seeing a room full of people in white coats, got a shock and quickly sat up.
