Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Dr. Ji, what’s wrong?”

”Dr. Ji...”

Ji Chuan felt the sounds around him gradually fading away. His body was weak, and despite his efforts to stabilize himself, he lost control. His body wouldn’t listen, and after swaying a couple of times, he fell with a thud.

”Quick! Quickly support Dr. Ji!”

Ji Chuan fainted. After performing several high-intensity surgeries in succession, he couldn’t endure it and collapsed.

When he fell, his head accidentally hit the corner of the table, and blood started to trickle down his temple.

”Quick, quickly bandage Dr. Ji’s wound.”

”His injury is quite severe; could it be a concussion?”

The doctors hurriedly lifted Ji Chuan onto a hospital bed and started bandaging his wound, but halfway through, another batch of wounded victims was brought in by the rescue team.

All the doctors immediately became busy and couldn’t spare any time to care for Ji Chuan.

”Dr. Ji can’t just be left here unattended. He’s been working too hard these past few days and hardly slept. We should send him to the nearby hospital, where at least someone can take care of him while he rests on a hospital bed.”

”Yes, I agree.”

Consequently, following everyone’s voting and decision, Ji Chuan was transferred to the nearest hospital for treatment and rest.

Early in the morning, Yan Huan’s right eyelid began twitching uncontrollably.

Initially, she was working on a very simple draft, but she rewrote it countless times without hitting the mark, leaving her somewhat frustrated.

She decided not to continue, pushed away her work, and stood up to stretch.

”Yan, you seem off today!” Tan Xiaomei said, looking up at her.

”Yeah, I am a bit.” Yan Huan stretched her neck and said, ”Xiaomei, I’ve felt uneasy since early morning, and my right eyelid kept twitching. Do you think something bad might have happened?”

”How could it be?” Tan Xiaomei smiled at Yan Huan, ”They say when the eye jumps, the eyebrow grows, someone must be thinking of you! It’s surely that unparalleled Dr. Ji from your home thinking of you!”

”Stop kidding. I’m serious,” Yan Huan wasn’t in the mood to joke with Tan Xiaomei, ”Do you think something might have happened to Ji Chuan?”

Tan Xiaomei, seeing her worried expression, smiled to console her, ”Yan, let it go. Dr. Ji went to perform surgeries, not to rescue people on-site! You can’t possibly be worried about a secondary landslide burying Dr. Ji underground, right?”

”Don’t say that!” Yan Huan was startled by Tan Xiaomei’s remarks, her heart pounding anxiously, ”Say ’pooh pooh pooh’ quickly!”

”Look at you, all nervous! I was just saying Dr. Ji is rescuing people from behind the scenes, not risking his life on the front lines.” Tan Xiaomei explained repeatedly but still followed Yan Huan’s lead and said ’pooh pooh pooh’ three times, ”Is that better?”

”Hmm, that’s more like it!” Yan Huan finally felt satisfied.

Yan Huan’s right eyelid twitched all day, and it turns out, it wasn’t for nothing.

Something happened to Ji Chuan!

She found out about it that night. After dinner, she returned to her dormitory to watch TV and stumbled upon the news.

The news program was reporting a major accident.
