Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Originally, Ning Chenyang didn’t want to deal with this annoying little girl, but hearing her cry so heartbrokenly, he sighed in frustration and turned around.

He saw the little boy who had just eaten his popsicle lying on the ground, eyes tightly shut, teeth clenched, and body twitching.

That appearance looked terrifying.

”Uncle, Auntie! I’m begging you to take my brother to see a doctor!! He’s very seriously ill...” The girl hugged her twitching brother, tears streaming down her face, even snot dripped down.

Ning Chenyang felt a wave of nausea.

How can there be such a disgusting girl in this world? Such an unlikable girl?

Ning Chenyang silently thought.

There were quite a few adults coming and going, but they were all hurriedly seeing a doctor. Even those not seeing a doctor, few stopped to help.

In this society, few dare to easily step forward to help; no one knows the situation of the siblings. Seeing them dressed in dirty and ragged clothes, they looked slightly better than runaways.

Perhaps, the child’s parents have no money for treatment, so they dropped their child at the hospital entrance, hoping someone kind and wealthy might help treat the child.

The little girl was half-kneeling on the ground, crying heartbreakingly.

She had no money and no way; seeing her brother twitching and rolling his eyes, she felt he was near death. Apart from crying desperately, she had no other recourse.

”Alright, stop crying! You already look ugly, crying makes you look even uglier!” Ning Chenyang approached and shouted at the little girl, ”What’s wrong with your brother?”

”He’s sick, with a persistent fever! It’s been four or five days... ooh ooh ooh... I took my brother to the clinic for medicine, but the doctor only gave medicines to reduce fever. The fever stops briefly, then starts again. The money ran out, but he is still sick.” The girl wiped her tears, complaining to Ning Chenyang, no longer appearing arrogant.

”Where are your parents? Don’t they care about you?”

”I don’t have a mom! Dad...” The girl stammered for a long time before saying, ”Dad left and we haven’t seen him for a long time. He only comes back to see us twice a year, just gives some money but doesn’t care much about us...”

”What does your dad do for a living...”

”Enough!” The girl was speaking nicely, but suddenly shouted, ”Are you helping or not? My brother is about to die from the fever!”

For the first time, Ning Chenyang was yelled at by such an annoying girl, feeling very unpleasant. He irritably pushed the girl aside, ”Step aside, I’ll handle it!”

With years of exercise, Ning Chenyang was strong. He hefted the little boy onto his back and headed to the emergency room on the hospital’s first floor.

The doctors here were all busy; seeing three children come in without taking a number, squeezing to the front for treatment.

”Kids, you need to wait in line here! Register first...” the doctor said.

”Auntie, please save him! He’s been fevering so much he’s near death!” Ning Chenyang placed the little boy in front of the doctor, and loudly pleaded.

The emergency room was inherently busy, with patients more serious than this child. Seeing three children forcibly intervene, no one waiting in line was happy.

For a moment, everyone was complaining aloud.

The hospital enforces the queue and registration system to minimize such trouble, so doctors must follow the rules.
