Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

There’s money to earn, of course Liu Ergou was willing, but he just couldn’t figure out why Liu Qiaoqiao insisted on harming that child.

Seeing the He Family living well makes her so upset.

But he didn’t want to ask much more, after all, there are indeed people like that in this world, who aren’t happy if their own lives aren’t going well, or if others’ lives are too happy.

So, various differences accumulate and turn into malicious intentions to harm others.

But he has no right to mock Liu Qiaoqiao, after all, he’s not much better than she is.

Seeing Zhao Ergou remain silent, Liu Qiaoqiao took it as consent.

With today’s matters settled, she was ready to head back, originally harboring other thoughts when she came.

But upon smelling the nauseating odor on Zhao Ergou, she lost all those thoughts.

”Don’t go!” This time Zhao Ergou wouldn’t let her leave, ”I’ve suffered such grievances today, shouldn’t you comfort me?”

”Comfort your head! Smell yourself, that stench! It reeks three miles downwind.” Liu Qiaoqiao pinched her nose and said.

”Come on, you’re already here! Isn’t your old Liu coming back soon? By then, we won’t have a chance to meet!!! We must seize the time!!!”

”Stink!!”

”Just cover your nose, won’t you?”

Inside, excitement started brewing again. Outside the window, three kids covered their mouths, crouched by the wall, listening to the intermittent conversation inside.

”Yueyue, you and Guangguang go find a way to bring all the adults here.” He Mu said to the two little ones.

They had already planned this on the way, dividing tasks for tonight.

Although Ning Chenguang didn’t know what ”搞破鞋” meant, after He Mu’s tactful explanation, he understood it as something very disgraceful, a humiliating affair that would make one look down upon by the whole village, even despised.

If this had happened before, let’s let everyone see it!

Let Liu Qiaoqiao lose face in front of the entire village, shamelessly, since she always targets the He Family when she’s full and idle.

Ning Chenguang and He Yueyue held hands and headed to where there were more people.

Tonight was especially stuffy, many people out for fresh air stayed out late.

Most were gathered at someone’s doorstep, chatting and laughing, sharing village news and everyday matters.

Ning Chenguang and He Yue aimed for the hottest doorstep they could find.

The two children didn’t say anything to the adults, just walked and muttered to themselves.

”Yueyue, why has Liu Qiaoqiao been running to Zhao Ergou’s place every night lately?”

”How would I know!”

”Do you think Zhao Ergou isn’t hitting her anymore?”

”Impossible! If he was hitting her, why would she keep going to find Zhao Ergou?”

”If he’s not hitting her, then why does she keep saying ’Zhao Ergou, be gentle’?”

The two kids repeated what they heard outside the wall as they walked along.

He Mu told them that saying this would surely lure people over.

Indeed, the villagers out for cool air overheard the children’s chatter and curiosity peaked instantly.

”What are you two kids talking about?”
