Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Good job!” Qin Jian patted his shoulder, ”I didn’t expect you to really have some talent! When you grow up, take the exam for the National Defense University, and after graduation, come to the army to work!”

”No! I want to join the army when I turn eighteen! I want to be a special forces soldier, not some commander!” Ning Chenyang puffed out his little chest and said.

If An Hao knew, he would definitely say that Qin Jian was instilling some kind of heroism in him.

But Ning Chenyang was born with an extraordinary passion for weapons.

”We’ll see how you do! Tired? Go wash your face, brush your teeth, and get to bed!”

”Yes, sir!”

...............

With the dawn, the wake-up call sounded.

Qin Jian looked at his son sleeping soundly in bed. This time he didn’t wake him up, but changed into his training gear and went for a few laps on the field by himself.

Ning Chenyang opened his eyes and saw that his father had already left, so he got up on his own, obediently got dressed, and put on his shoes to go jogging on the field.

This was a habit that Qin Jian had instilled in them since childhood, to get up early and go running.

Ning Chenyang had always lived in the compound, almost every day adhering to the long-term goals set by Qin Jian.

When he reached the field, he saw from a distance that Qin Jian was standing on the edge of it, not running.

Standing opposite him was indeed the commander of the reconnaissance battalion they met yesterday at the shooting range. He stood straight, looking like he was reporting something to Qin Jian.

”Commander, we initially didn’t plan to trouble you with this matter, but it turned out to be very odd. Ma Xiaozhou insists that he couldn’t possibly have removed parts from the gun...” Captain Zhang was reporting to Qin Jian about what happened yesterday afternoon.

After the shooting, the guns and ammunition had to be returned to storage.

During the routine checks for storage, when they were performing regular maintenance, they discovered an issue with the guns, and some parts were missing.

So, they conducted an investigation overnight.

None of the warriors found any issues during disassembly and reassembly, except for the problem with Ma Xiaozhou’s gun.

As a result, he became the main focus of the investigation.

”Are you saying our warrior hid parts of the gun? Or accidentally lost them?” Qin Jian expressed shock and confusion upon hearing this.

”It should be lost.” Captain Zhang irritably scratched his head, ”Commander, I... I find it a bit strange.”

”Then just say it directly.” Qin Jian noticed that the usually straightforward Captain Zhang was hesitant in his words, indicating he might have some difficulty sharing, ”You don’t need to hold back anything in front of me.”

”Well... alright.” Captain Zhang carefully recalled the previous situation, ”Commander, you know our reconnaissance battalion’s warriors are not all sharpshooters, but their shooting skills are quite high. Ma Xiaozhou is an exception, but he hasn’t had any major issues. But this time, both guns he handled had problems. Afterward, I conducted a strict interrogation and even took the entire battalion to the shooting range in the middle of the night to search for the lost parts. We practically dug three feet into the ground, but still didn’t find anything!”

”So what? Just tell me the outcome!” Qin Jian was confused by his cryptic report.

”This time, your son also handled the guns. Honestly, for a five or six-year-old child to be able to assemble a gun with his eyes closed is truly astonishing...” Captain Zhang finally circled around to the main point.
