Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”What do you mean by dare or not dare? Are you bullying Yueyue again?” Ning Chenyang ran back holding two ice cream cones, seeing Wang Xiaohu sitting in front of Yueyue, he thought Xiaohu was up to his usual tricks.

”No! I’m not!” Wang Xiaohu quickly clarified, ”I haven’t done any of those bullying things in ages.”

”Can I believe you?” Ning Chenyang chuckled at him, handing one of the ice cream cones to Yueyue, ”Wang Xiaohu, your words make me doubt you, just like a dog saying it no longer eats poop! Completely unconvincing!”

”Hahaha!” He Yue laughed loudly, ”Brother Yangyang, your analogy is really funny.”

”Ning Chenyang! I’m telling you, I want to be friendly with you, you can’t be so unfriendly, you’re trying to start a war between us!” Wang Xiaohu jumped up and said.

”Hmph. I’d believe your words as much as I’d believe in ghosts.”

”This time I’m sincere!”

”How do you prove you’re sincere? You’ve always been deceitful before!” Ning Chenyang took a big bite of his ice cream, looking disdainful.

”How about we cooperate for once? If I perform well, will you be friends with me?” Wang Xiaohu said earnestly this time.

”Why do you suddenly want to be friends with me?” They had been like fire and water since childhood, Wang Xiaohu always wanted to take him down whenever he saw him, why would he want to be friends now?

This really sounded suspicious.

”Because...” Wang Xiaohu hesitated, not speaking, if he said it was for Yueyue, it would be so embarrassing, ”Because you let me off last time! I have admired you since then! Actually, I want to be friends too... but I’m afraid you’ll make fun of me!”

”Really...?” Ning Chenyang was half-believing, half-doubting.

”Of course.” Wang Xiaohu patted his chest in assurance, ”Today, once all the kids finish school, I can tell my team, right in front of everyone, that we’re reconciled, okay?”

”Sure! No problem.” Having one more friend is much better than having an extra enemy, Ning Chenyang was of course willing to reconcile.

”Come on, pinky swear! This’ll be our agreement.” Wang Xiaohu reached out his chubby hand to make a deal with Ning Chenyang.

”That’s right! You should’ve reconciled all along!” He Yueyue squinted her eyes, smiling with her eyes curved.

”Yueyue, can we be friends now?” Wang Xiaohu asked He Yue, somewhat shyly, his eyes full of hope.

”We can.” He Yueyue nodded repeatedly.

”Great!” Wang Xiaohu showed a joyful smile, he said excitedly, ”I think the plan you mentioned about catching the kidnapper is something we should try too! Now that I’m friends with Chenyang, our team is even bigger!”

”What kidnapper-catching plan?” Ning Chenyang tilted his head and asked.

”That scar-faced old man!” He Yue said, contentedly licking her ice cream.

”How can we possibly catch him?” Ning Chenyang shook his head repeatedly, ”Nancheng City is so big, our parents don’t even allow us to leave the compound, how could we possibly catch a kidnapper?”

”Oh, right! It’s indeed difficult.” Wang Xiaohu thought about it and suddenly felt that his words earlier were impulsive.

”It’s not just difficult, it’s completely unfeasible.” Ning Chenyang said.
