Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Mm. Really. I’ve agreed.” Yan Huan said.

”That’s wonderful. In that case, today we can just discuss your wedding plans.” Feng Yuzhi said happily, ”Do you have any idea when you want to get married?”

”Since we’re talking marriage. I’m thinking by the end of this year. It’s both holiday season and wedding time! That’s pretty good!” Ji Chuan had already planned it out.

”Sure. I think that date sounds good too. I’ll find someone to pick a lucky day for you, and then you can choose that auspicious day to get married. May your lives be smooth and easy.” Feng Yuzhi was eager to start organizing.

”We’re all from military families. Do we really believe in that? In my opinion, the kids should choose whatever day they want to get married!” Yan Luquan said.

”Is picking a good day really that bad? It’s not entirely superstitious—it’s just to bring some good luck! My Huanhuan has had many tough days over the years, and I just want to choose a good day for her to marry, so her future days are happy and smooth.” Feng Yuzhi said what she felt.

”And they say it’s not superstitious.” Yan Luquan coughed twice, ”It’s not good for you to interfere too much with the children’s matters. They’ll reach out to you if they need help. Don’t always impose your ways on them.”

”This stubborn old man! What do you mean by imposing my ways?” Feng Yuzhi grumbled unhappily, ”I’m just worried they’re busy at work. Besides, we couldn’t organize our son’s wedding, and I feel a bit regretful. Now with Huanhuan, I must seriously handle this.”

”Alright. Everything will be done your way.” Ji Chuan said with a smile.

”Mom, I’m starting to think that maybe you and Dad didn’t have a proper wedding back then, and that’s why you’re not at peace. You’re trying so hard to compensate through me and Yan Ye. Why do I feel like you’re even more excited about my wedding than I am!” Yan Huan said while biting her chopsticks, raising her eyebrows at her excited mother.

”Say whatever you want.” As the major decision was made, Feng Yuzhi was very happy, ”Tomorrow I’ll go pick out a date for you. Ji Chuan, when do your parents have time, let them come by too? Let’s have a gathering and make it lively!”

”Great. I’ll start preparing tomorrow too. Tomorrow I’ll apply for a house at the hospital and begin preparing our new home.” Ji Chuan said excitedly.

”Mm.” Yan Huan nodded, her cheeks reddened with a blush, ”I’ll prepare it with you during this time!”

”Okay.” Ji Chuan agreed with a smile.

”So sweet!” An Hao said with a big smile, ”Yan Huan, look at you, all shy with a little bit of a bride’s demeanor now.”

”Ugh, even you’re teasing me here.” Yan Huan said with a flushed face.

”How could I? I’m so happy for you two.” An Hao raised her glass, ”Wishing you and Ji Chuan a long-lasting union!”

”Thank you!” Yan Huan and Ji Chuan said in unison.

”Mom! The gift! The gift you and Dad prepared for my godfather and godmother!” Ning Chenyang was still thinking about that pair of watches.

”Yes, yes. My head is all over the place.” An Hao gestured for Qin Jian to quickly bring out the gift.

Qin Jian handed the pair of exquisite watches to Yan Huan: ”Wish you happiness!”

”Thank you! Thank you both! I will definitely be happy.” Yan Huan accepted the gift.

”Gifts can’t be accepted for free!” Yan Ye seized the moment to say.
