Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Qiu Xinyi arrived at the hospital and headed straight for Ji Chuan’s office. She knocked on the door a few times, but it was silent inside, and no one responded to her.

She tried pushing the door.

The door opened, and the room was empty.

She immediately turned around and went to the nurse’s station to ask about the situation: ”Excuse me, can you tell me where Dr. Ji went?”

”Dr. Ji is still in the operating room. Is there something you need from him?”

”Oh, just a little matter. About how long until he comes out?”

”Not sure.”

”Alright, thank you.” Qiu Xinyi thanked the nurse. Since Ji Chuan’s return time wasn’t certain, she decided not to wait there.

I’ll come another time. She wanted to hand over these clothes to Ji Chuan in person.

As Qiu Xinyi walked back with the clothing bag, she heard the nurses behind her whispering.

”Dr. Ji’s love life has been quite active recently.”

”You said it! Our Dr. Ji is handsome and charming, a real heartthrob. It’s normal for multiple women to pursue him, right?”

”Could it be the same person who called earlier?”

”Doesn’t sound quite the same. The woman who called earlier sounded really angry...”

The woman from earlier?

Qiu Xinyi caught that word precisely.

She could almost confirm one hundred percent that the woman the nurses were talking about was Yan Huan.

Last night, she successfully diverted Tan Xiaomei’s attention.

And since Tan Xiaomei and Yan Huan had such a good relationship, she definitely would have told Yan Huan about it.

Yan Huan, so determined in her pursuit of the one, would certainly call to confront him.

Don’t ask her how she knew, it’s just her nature.

So Yan Huan must be absolutely furious now!

Thinking of this, Qiu Xinyi almost burst out laughing.

Instead of leaving, she turned back and returned to Ji Chuan’s office.

She glanced around the room, and finally placed the clothes in a not-so-obvious but definitely visible spot.

Then she sat down, tore a sheet of paper from Ji Chuan’s desk, picked up a pen, and quickly wrote a letter.

Ji Chuan:

I’m sorry, I drank too much last night and wasn’t very clear-headed. It wasn’t until I went home that my father told me you carried me downstairs, and I accidentally threw up, dirtying your clothes. I’m deeply sorry.

After much consideration, it didn’t seem right, so I specifically bought some clothes to compensate you.

Also, thank you for your gentle care at the dinner table last night!

——Qiu Xinyi

After writing the note, Qiu Xinyi took some glue and affixed it to a prominent spot on the clothing bag. She glanced around a few times and felt there was nothing more to add.

Only then did she smile in satisfaction, turn, and leave.

As soon as Qiu Xinyi left the hospital, Yan Huan arrived, with less than ten minutes between them.

Yan Huan went upstairs, and the first thing she did was lean over the nurse’s station and ask, ”Has Dr. Ji come out yet?”

”Not yet,” the nurse replied.

Without another word, Yan Huan turned and headed for Ji Chuan’s office.

The door, ajar.

She pushed it open and plopped herself down on the couch in the room.

No matter how long Ji Chuan stayed in surgery, she would wait until he was out. She couldn’t rest her mind until everything was clear today.

Yan Huan waited alone and got restless after a while, so she started moving around inside Ji Chuan’s office.

When she reached the bookshelf, through the glass cabinet she saw a bulging clothing bag stuffed in there, with a letter prominently attached to it.
