Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Are the grapes tasty?” Qin Jian put down the document in his hand and looked up at Yan Huan.

”Delicious, delicious.” Yan Huan squinted her eyes, smiling with satisfaction, ”Commander Qin, you really married a good wife! An Hao knows you’re going down to the troops to inspect boot camp, she got you quite a lot of fruit!”

”Isn’t it all benefitting you now?” Qin Jian saw how her lips were flipping up and down, grape skins continuously being spit out, ”Feeling a bit better now?”

”So-so.” Yan Huan sighed. Her relationship with Qin Jian now is a bit like siblings; the two families have become closer due to Lin Qiushu’s presence.

And Qin Jian appreciates that Yan Huan helped An Hao during her toughest times, back then he almost died in an earthquake, it’s Yan Huan and Yan Ye who gave An Hao strong support.

He will never forget this kindness!

”Actually, Ji Chuan is a good person...” Qin Jian just wanted to defend Ji Chuan a bit when Yan Huan interrupted him, ”Hey, hey, hey, don’t mention him! I’m thinking about a very serious issue right now.”

”Don’t be so impulsive?” Qin Jian seems to have guessed what she’s thinking.

”I’m not impulsive. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.”

”Breaking up isn’t something to be suggested lightly. Love can’t withstand wear and tear, you have to trust Ji Chuan, he’s a decent person. From your stories along the way, it seems likely the problem lies with Qiu Xinyi here. According to you, Qiu Xinyi already harbors improper thoughts about Ji Chuan. If Ji Chuan had those thoughts too, why would he have pursued you so persistently later?”

”I know. Telling you all the way here, I’ve come to realize many things. Maybe I was impulsive and should give Ji Chuan a chance to explain.” She’s cooled down now, but in that fury before, it was really hard to be calm.

”Since you understand, why talk about breaking up?”

”No way? You’re overthinking.” Yan Huan said.

”Then what are you seriously considering?”

”I want to plead with you to use your privileges.” Yan Huan turned around with a slightly pleading look on her face, ”I wonder if you’ll agree?”

”What privilege?”

”Transfer Qiu Xinyi out of our regiment! She’s so annoying, I get angry just seeing her! Best if she stays far away from Nancheng, so she doesn’t run to see Ji Chuan every now and then.” That’s the real issue Yan Huan is considering.

”I’ll have to think about this.” Qin Jian raised an eyebrow, can personnel transfers be so casual?

Transferring Qiu just because of personal grievances, that decision’s too hasty.

”Alright, don’t take too long to think about it. Otherwise, I’ll go find An Hao. Humph...” Yan Huan’s words carried a bit of a threat.

Among them, everyone knows when An Hao gets angry, Qin Jian ends up on the sofa, not allowed to touch her for days, leaving him anxious and the anger surging.

This cold-faced commander in the army is extremely authoritative before the warriors, who knew at home he’d be so tightly controlled by his little wife?

Qin Jian took a deep breath, he must manage Ning Chenyang, that kid, well in the future, not everything should be spread around.

...............

For two consecutive days, Ji Chuan heard no word from Yan Huan.

He was in the office headache-ridden, unable to grasp Yan Huan’s emotional state in this over half month separation.

But the area being trained against belongs to a military site.

It’s difficult for him to even get in.

Could it really be more than ten days of not seeing each other? Letting Yan Huan work with resentment in her heart, just thinking about it made him uncomfortable.

As Ji Chuan was feeling restless, the phone on his desk rang, he answered it with anticipation, only to find it was the nurse station calling: ”Director Ji, the chief has arrived! Can you prepare for today’s scheduled surgery?”
