Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Yan Huan, full of doubt, walked over and clearly saw the contents of the letter through the glass window.

Tan Xiaomei wasn’t wrong at all; Ji Chuan did go out for dinner and drinks last night, and it was indeed with Qiu Xinyi and her father.

He really deceived her!

Yan Huan felt a buzzing in her ears, and all the blood in her body rushed to her head, despite having made countless excuses for Ji Chuan on her way here.

Yet, the truth was already laid out before her.

Ji Chuan had lied to her!

The clothes were just lying there in the display case, and she didn’t know if Ji Chuan put them there or if it was Qiu Xinyi.

No matter who put them there, it didn’t matter anymore.

She didn’t care anymore.

With a heart full of pain and indignation, Yan Huan walked out of Ji Chuan’s office, her feet unsteady as she headed outside.

As she passed the nurses’ station, she heard a nurse say to her: ”Are you Chief Ji’s girlfriend? A call just came from the operating room, the surgery is about to finish, and they want the ward prepared. I think Chief Ji will be coming out soon.”

”Whatever,” Yan Huan said without looking back, dejectedly heading toward the hallway exit.

Going down the stairs, her heavy heart felt no relief at all, her mind filled only with the contents of that note.

So much so that she wasn’t watching where she was going and walked straight into someone head-on.

”Yan Huan, what happened to you?” Fortunately, it wasn’t anyone else she bumped into but An Hao, who had just come up from the emergency room.

Yan Huan rubbed her aching forehead, finally coming to her senses, seeing An Hao rubbing his head and looking at her with concern. Her barely controlled emotions instantly erupted.

”An Hao...he deceived me.” Yan Huan’s nose tingled, her eyes turning red.

”Who?” An Hao grabbed her elbow and pulled her aside, asking in detail about her situation.

”Who else? Ji Chuan!” Yan Huan felt so wronged.

After finally falling into the embrace of love under his strong pursuit, even before they got married, he began deceiving her.

”Ji Chuan deceived you? That’s impossible, right?” Yan Huan found it hard to believe; the Ji Chuan she knew was never like that, ”Did you make a mistake? Isn’t this a misunderstanding?”

”No.” Yan Huan recounted the situation in detail, ”Tan Xiaomei saw him carrying Qiu Xinyi down the stairs with her own eyes. And just now, I saw the clothes Qiu Xinyi bought for him in his office. An Hao, the thing I hate most in life is deceit, but I never thought...”

”Don’t worry. I’ll go up with you to ask about the situation.” Seeing that these two were on the brink of happiness, how could An Hao sit idly by and watch them be torn apart by misunderstanding?

”He’s in the operating room.” Yan Huan wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, ”I don’t want to wait for him. I have a pile of work to do, and I slipped out without taking leave. Now I have to return. If there is any misunderstanding, let him call me and explain. Before this is clarified, I need some peace.”

Seeing Yan Huan say it like this, what more could An Hao say: ”Alright then. You’d better get back. After he comes out, I’ll find him to ask about the situation.”

.........

Yan Huan returned to the unit, and as soon as she entered the office, she saw Tan Xiaomei busy packing up. The camera and film were ready on the table, looking like she was preparing for an interview outing.

”Xiaomei, where are you going?” Yan Huan asked, putting down her bag.
