Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Why can’t I come?” Yan Huan wiped the sweat off her forehead. ”This hospital isn’t opened by your family, right?”

”Who’s speaking? So aggressive?” Commander Qiu heard the prickly words from Yan Huan and asked slowly.

Upon hearing this, Yan Huan glanced inside and saw it was Commander Qiu Songyan. So, she immediately stood at attention and saluted him solemnly.

”Hello, Commander! I’m Yan Huan, the news officer of the 704 Regiment.”

”Yan Huan... Are you the daughter of Deputy Commander Yan?” Yan is a rare surname, and there aren’t many people with it in the whole military district. So, Commander Qiu guessed right away.

”Yes.”

”Oh, you do look a bit like him. Are you here for a medical check-up?” Commander Qiu asked.

”Yes.” Yan Huan replied.

”Alright, since you’re here for the check-up, we’ll head out first. We won’t take up your time!”

”Goodbye, Commander!”

”Goodbye!”

Commander Qiu and Qiu Xinyi left for the dean’s office under the dean’s guidance.

Now, only Ji Chuan and Yan Huan were left here.

”What’s wrong? Look at you, all sweaty!” Ji Chuan took out a handkerchief from his pocket and tucked it into Yan Huan’s hand. ”Here, wipe your sweat. I’ll get you a cup of cold water.”

Yan Huan was still fuming and gulped down the water Ji Chuan poured for her. ”That Qiu Xinyi really is persistent like a haunting ghost.”

”What happened? Did you guys have a conflict?” Seeing Yan Huan so angry, Ji Chuan naturally needed to ask.

”Does fighting over a guy count as a conflict?” Yan Huan tilted her head to look at Ji Chuan, blaming Qiu Xinyi’s ’crimes’ word by word. ”She’s got her eyes on you. She doesn’t work all day, just finding ways to get close to you. Now, as soon as the deadline approaches, she’s taken leave again, leaving a ton of tasks for me. Yet she’s happily come here to find you.”

”She’s here because of her father’s illness. This time, Commander Qiu isn’t doing too well and may need surgery.” Ji Chuan was focused on the upcoming surgery and hadn’t thought much about other things.

”Every time she comes here, her motives are impure.” Yan Huan said furiously.

”So you specifically came over because of this?” Ji Chuan was full of surprise.

”If I say yes, will you laugh at me?”

”No, I’d be thrilled. It shows you care about me a lot.” Ji Chuan smiled, patting her head. ”I thought you were panting here for something else, but it turns out it’s because of this!”

”What? I can’t come over because of this? That Qiu Xinyi has a terrible reputation in our troop. You better not get mixed up with her.” Yan Huan frowned, her lips pouting slightly, unintentionally showing a bit of a girlish demeanor.

”Don’t worry. I promise I won’t get involved with her. Don’t you know what’s in my heart? I even dream of marrying you, and my eyes and heart are only for you, no matter how Qiu Xinyi tries to catch my attention, I won’t look at her even a bit.”

”Really?”

”Of course. Do you want me to swear it to you?” Ji Chuan looked at Yan Huan’s concerned expression, unable to resist a light chuckle.

”No, that won’t be necessary.”

”Alright. Next time, just call if something’s up. It’s so hot today and you just ran over here like this. I’m worried you’ll get heatstroke, what should I do then?” Ji Chuan looked at her flushed cheeks and couldn’t help but advise her, ”In the future, don’t do such silly things, got it?”
