Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Ji Chuan was overjoyed: ”Are you serious?”

”Yes, I am.” Yan Huan said.

”You just disagreed, so why did you change your mind now?” Ji Chuan was very puzzled, but also incredibly relieved.

”Is it not good that I changed my mind?” Yan Huan countered.

”Of course it’s good. This is the best outcome.” Although Ji Chuan was confused, he didn’t delve deeper. This was exactly what he wanted; Yan Huan agreeing to marry him was better than anything else.

”Oh! This is great! Am I going to have a godfather now?” Ning Chenyang understood the adults’ conversation and jumped up in excitement, ”My godmother finally won’t have to be alone. Now she’ll have a man to care for her too!”

”You little rascal, what nonsense are you spouting? Did you hear this from someone?” Qin Jian was shocked by his son’s surprising words and asked with a frown.

”This? I learned it by listening to Xiaohu’s mom chatting with other aunties.” Ning Chenyang grinned widely.

”This little guy is very clever, but he needs to be well taught in the future.” Yan Ye said, ruffling Ning Chenyang’s hair, ”This kid has a bit of a wild spirit.”

”Yeah. He should be sent to the military to toughen up in the future.” Qin Jian had already made up his mind, thinking that Chenyang was more suited for the military than Chenguang.

The child’s grandfather also hoped the child could join the military, to carry on the glory of the older generations. Their thoughts coincided, planning a future for the child in their minds.

”Don’t you dare!” At this, An Hao walked out of the kitchen with a freshly prepared dish in her hands, ”In the future, Yangyang will choose his own career! I don’t want our whole family to be in the military. It would be hard for me to see my children when I’m old.”

”Dad, can you play with guns in the military?” Ning Chenyang asked.

”Of course. Once you’re in the military, you can use guns as you please and shoot bullets freely!” Qin Jian said.

”I want to join the military! And I want to be the King of Soldiers!” Ning Chenyang said without hesitation.

”Such ambition!” The men present all gave the little guy a thumbs up.

”Yangyang!” Her son not wanting to follow her idea made An Hao feel frustrated.

”Mom, once I join the military, I can also protect you!” Ning Chenyang felt he had let his mom down and tried to comfort her with a smile.

”Good boy. We’ll talk about this later, but right now our main task is to eat!” An Hao said.

The lunch was very sumptuous.

With An Hao’s skillful help, the large table of dishes was quickly laid out, and the whole family sat gathered around it.

Lin Qiushu and her child were staying over at the hospital’s family quarters because the child had been feeling slightly unwell these past days. Considering today was quite lively, she didn’t bring the child along, wanting the child to rest quietly.

Everyone else was ready.

Since today was about Ji Chuan and Yan Huan’s matter, they were the main focus.

At the dining table, the top priority was bringing up the couple’s marriage on the agenda.

”We all just discussed that since Ji Chuan and Yan Huan are in love and willing to marry, it’s time for us to set a date for the wedding.” Yan Luquan, as the family elder, brought the matter up, appropriately so.

”Really?” Feng Yuzhi hadn’t expected Yan Huan to agree so readily. She had been thinking about quickly marrying Yan Huan off, and now it seemed she could save her energy.
