Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Yan Huan obediently nodded, ”Alright then.”

”Good! Wait for me, I’ll be right back.” Ji Chuan said before turning and leaving. Shortly after, he returned with an ice pop in hand, ”Here, cool off.”

”You went out just to buy an ice pop?”

”Yes. Don’t just stand there, come eat it!” Ji Chuan unwrapped the ice pop and placed it in Yan Huan’s hand, ”Finish it, sweat a bit, and then hurry back.”

”What about you? Aren’t you getting off work?” Yan Huan asked while biting the ice pop, tilting her head towards Ji Chuan, ”I wanted to have dinner with you today.”

”Not today. I have a night shift tonight,” Ji Chuan replied.

”Alright. Since that’s the case, I guess we won’t.” Yan Huan felt a little regretful, but she understood the nature of his work and supported him.

Seeing her somewhat disappointed expression, Ji Chuan quickly comforted her: ”After I’m done with this busy period, I’ll set aside time to be with you. Also, I submitted a housing application to the management today; we should be able to get a unit in the hospital soon. Once the house is ready, shall we decorate it ourselves?”

Yan Huan nodded repeatedly.

Initially, she thought about dating Ji Chuan for a few years before getting married, but now it seems her decision during the family gathering was right. Such an outstanding man, if she doesn’t hold onto him firmly, someone else surely will.

Especially after they confirmed their relationship, the more she looks at Ji Chuan, the more charming he becomes.

Therefore, she often feels a sense of crisis.

”Good.”

Having finished the ice pop, Yan Huan’s body temperature dropped considerably. She raised her wrist to check the time, ”Hmm, it’s getting late. I should head back, you get busy!”

”Wait!” Ji Chuan suddenly stopped her, ”Look at you, like a little kid, ice pop all over your mouth.”

”Huh?” Yan Huan quickly raised her hand to wipe her mouth.

Ji Chuan grabbed her hand and leaned over to kiss her lips, ”Let me help you wipe it...”

Yan Huan’s face instantly turned red, the temperature on her face astonishingly hot, ”Ji... Chuan, you’re so bad.”

.........

At six in the afternoon, Qiu Xinyi appeared at Ji Chuan’s office right on time, only to find him with his head down, writing medical records, showing no intention of leaving work.

”Director Ji, come on! We agreed to have dinner together tonight, didn’t we?”

Ji Chuan glanced at Qiu Xinyi and slowly said, ”Officer Qiu, I have a night shift tonight, so I won’t be going.”

”Why won’t you go? Come on!” Qiu Xinyi insisted repeatedly.

”I’m not going. Please let the staff officer and the director know for me.” Ji Chuan politely declined, ”I have quite a bit of work on my plate, and I need to prepare the surgery plan for the staff officer tonight. Since it’s for the chairman, I need to be more thorough in my preparations.”

Qiu Xinyi noticed that he hadn’t refused earlier, but after Yan Huan came, he immediately declined, she thought to herself that Yan Huan must have said something to him.

A strong sense of dissatisfaction rose from within, Qiu Xinyi pursed her lips, showing a somewhat resentful expression, ”Doctor Ji, are you rejecting me? Or the chairman?”

”Both,” Ji Chuan disliked being pressured by someone’s status the most.

Qiu Xinyi’s words just now were somewhat unpleasant to hear.

After studying abroad for so many years, and upon returning home having performed countless surgeries for leaders, no leader had spoken to him like that, let alone a leader’s daughter.
