Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”This is unclear. It depends on the patient’s resuscitation status,” the nurse gently replied.

”I understand.”

”Then may I ask who you are? Do you need me to inform Director Ji...” Before the nurse could finish her sentence, the busy tone came through the phone.

Yan Huan had hung up the phone.

”How is it?” Tan Xiaomei looked at Yan Huan’s very displeased expression and knew she was still harboring a lot of anger. ”What time does Doctor Ji get off the operating table?”

”I don’t know.” Yan Huan closed her notebook and began sulking. ”I said my eyelid kept twitching since early morning today, and I thought something might happen. Turns out it’s such a troublesome matter.”

”Yan, don’t be upset. Maybe it’s a misunderstanding,” Tan Xiaomei quickly tried to comfort her upon seeing Yan Huan’s bad mood. ”Perhaps I was mistaken.”

”Misunderstanding?” Yan Huan sneered. ”Last night I wanted to have dinner with him. He told me he had a night shift and couldn’t accompany me. He also assured me he wouldn’t have any entanglement with Qiu Xinyi. I thought he was really going on a night shift, but it turns out he had this arrangement.”

”Yan, don’t be angry. Perhaps Doctor Ji did it because he was afraid you’d be upset. Think about it, Commander Qiu is a leader! For us soldiers, obeying orders is our duty. I believe if it’s only Qiu Xinyi, Doctor Ji might have decisively refused,” Tan Xiaomei realized she hadn’t thought things through and started finding excuses to explain Ji Chuan’s situation from the previous night.

”I’m angry! How can I not be angry! Even if he was afraid I’d be angry, he shouldn’t have lied to me. No matter how many reasons he has, he shouldn’t lie to me,” Yan Huan was upset about this.

She is someone who doesn’t tolerate deception.

Especially when it comes to love.

Since she loved someone wholeheartedly, Yan Huan was willing to give everything. When she agreed to marry Ji Chuan, it proved that she had completely considered Ji Chuan as her man.

So, when your man, who has always treated you well, suddenly deceives you, wouldn’t you feel heartbroken?

”Yan, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have told you without investigating properly first. You should wait until Doctor Ji comes out of the operating room and ask him directly,” Tan Xiaomei saw Yan Huan’s furious look and realized she might have made a mistake.

She didn’t want Yan Huan and Ji Chuan to break up because of her, that would be a huge sin, wouldn’t it?

”Whether it’s your mistake or not remains to be seen. I have to verify this myself.” Yan Huan stopped writing and grabbed her bag from the hanger to rush to the hospital.

Qiu Xinyi came out of the mall carrying a set of brand new clothes.

A white shirt, suit pants, plus a pair of shiny black sandals—all bought for Ji Chuan.

Last night, she indeed toyed with a bit of a scheme, but vomiting was truly an accident.

After vomiting and going back, she regretted the whole night.

She actually let Ji Chuan see her in such a messy state, which was so embarrassing.

After regretting it, a thought occurred to her: didn’t she just get Ji Chuan’s clothes dirty?

She would compensate Ji Chuan with a set of clothes, and in doing so, wouldn’t it create another opportunity for interaction between them?
