Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

The next day, Qin Jian returned to the command center. Despite wanting more time to accompany his wife and son, work was too busy. He had squeezed out time to be with them over the past couple of days.

When the time comes, he naturally has to leave.

An Hao took Ning Chenguang to the hospital for a check-up, leaving Ning Chenyang and He Yue at home.

The hospital check-up was dull, and An Hao worried He Yue would get bored, so she tasked Chenyang with keeping Yueyue entertained.

The military compound was very safe; as long as they didn’t step outside the gates, there would be no issues at all.

Ning Chenyang repeatedly assured An Hao that he would not go outside and would take good care of Yueyue, never bullying her or letting others bully her.

Seeing her son make such promises, An Hao felt at ease as she left with Ning Chenguang.

At the hospital.

Ning Chenguang underwent a series of tests, and after waiting half a day, the results came out. An Hao then took Chenguang to consult the neurology specialist.

”From the results, the child’s progress is quite promising,” the old military doctor said as he looked over the pile of test results. ”To recover to this extent in such a short time is indeed not easy.”

”That’s wonderful!” Hearing the doctor say her child’s condition was improving, a weight was lifted off her heart. ”But I still wonder how long it will take for full recovery.”

”That’s hard to say.” The old military doctor dared not make any guarantees. There’s no definitive timeline for such diseases. ”However, if you continue with the current approach, I believe that day won’t be too far off.”

The old military doctor’s words gave An Hao enormous confidence, and she repeatedly thanked him.

An Hao collected three months’ worth of medicine from the pharmacy and headed back with Ning Chenguang. As they passed a bakery, Chenguang caught the enticing scent wafting from it.

”Mom, can we buy some bread?” Ning Chenguang paused.

”Do you want to eat some?” An Hao smiled and bent down. ”You’re quite the little sweet tooth.”

Ning Chenguang shook his head, ”No... Yueyue loves it. Every time she eats bread, she smiles with her eyes curving, and I like seeing her smile.”

”Alright!” An Hao giggled and playfully pinched Chenguang’s little nose. ”It seems Yueyue holds quite a place in your heart.”

”She’s so kind to me, how could I be unkind to her? One should know gratitude and return kindness, right?” Ning Chenguang looked up earnestly at An Hao as he spoke.

An Hao nodded with a smile.

Boys do develop a bit slower; his thoughts are different from Yueyue’s.

What will their future relationship be?

Who can predict?

An Hao thought to herself that no matter whom her little ones choose, she would support them as a mother.

...

He Yue, accompanied by Ning Chenyang, ran wildly around the compound for a while, then sat under the shade to rest. The blazing July sun scorched the ground like a fireball, and the two kids were drenched in sweat.

Yueyue pouted as she wiped sweat with a handkerchief, mumbling, ”Nancheng is so hot! It’s much hotter than our He Family Manor.”

Seeing Yueyue’s flushed face, Ning Chenyang jumped up from the ground, ”Wait here, I’ll go get you some ice cream.”

Ice cream? What’s that?

He Yue blinked, contemplating the question, as she saw a chubby boy in the distance walking over while licking a cone.

Could that be it?

Just as Yueyue stared eagerly at the ice cream cone, Wang Xiaohu recognized her, his eyes lit up, and he dashed toward them.
