Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2347: Chapter 2340: Commonly Called Stove Soot

Ji Chuan lifted his head, and at the moment he saw Yan Huan, he was momentarily stunned, then his expression became much more colorful: ”Where have you been? Were you out fixing someone’s stove?”

”Huh?” Yan Huan was momentarily puzzled by Ji Chuan’s question, ”Why are you asking me this? I saw you got caught in the rain and was worried you’d catch a cold, so An Hao and I went to a local’s house to borrow their stove and made ginger sugar tea to warm you up!”

Yan Huan took Cheng Yue’s large enamel mug and poured a big cup full of ginger sugar tea from the kettle, then handed it to Ji Chuan: ”Come on, drink it up and you’ll feel a lot warmer!”

Ji Chuan took it and glanced at An Hao.

An Hao waved his hands quickly: ”This wasn’t my idea! Making ginger sugar tea for you was Yan Huan’s suggestion. This has nothing to do with me! I was just accompanying! If you want to thank anyone, thank Yan Huan!”

”Thank you.” Ji Chuan smiled at Yan Huan, his eyes so gentle they could melt someone.

An Hao pursed her lips in a smile, lifted the curtain, and stepped out, leaving the two of them alone.

”Why do you keep looking at me?” His gaze was so intense, it felt like it could melt someone, and Yan Huan felt a bit uncomfortable as if the air temperature was too high, ”Just drink your ginger sugar tea! How did I do? Is it drinkable?”

Ji Chuan opened his mouth to take a sip, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he spat out a piece of ginger residue: ”Not bad!”

”Hey, don’t spit out the ginger! You know ginger is warming, so if you spit it out, what’s the use? Chew it up and swallow it!”

Ji Chuan originally wanted to discuss his true feelings about the ginger sugar tea with her, but seeing her hopeful eyes, he suppressed his words and gulped it down.

Half a mug later, fine beads of sweat appeared on the tip of his nose.

His body felt less tense, and he felt much more relaxed.

”Looks like I did a pretty good job!” Yan Huan was very pleased with her first endeavor.

”Yes.” Ji Chuan put down the mug, and his beautiful eyes squinted slightly as he looked at Yan Huan for a while before reaching out to her face.

”What are you doing!” Yan Huan quickly took two steps back, full of alertness, ”Ji Chuan, I made ginger sugar tea for you because I felt bad you got caught in the rain. Don’t misunderstand my intentions towards you. Yes, I admit seeing you did touch me a bit, but it has nothing to do with love, you know?”

”I understand!” Ji Chuan laughed lightly, ”I have no other ideas, just that on your face... there’s something on your face I wanted to wipe off for you...”

”Something? What something?”

Ji Chuan’s fingers gently touched her cheek, rubbed a bit, then waved it in front of Yan Huan: ”Just this... hmm, we commonly refer to it as soot from the bottom of a pot!”

”I have soot on my face!!” Yan Huan exclaimed in shock, hurriedly looking for Cheng Yue’s mirror. When she saw her face, more colorful than a patched cat, she quickly lifted her sleeve to wipe it, ”Ji Chuan, you old fox! An unmistakable old fox! You saw this long ago yet didn’t tell me, and just watched me as a joke!”

”You’re wrong.” Ji Chuan’s smile was full of spring breeze, ”I am not the old fox! An Hao is; she was the first to see your whole face covered in black and didn’t tell you at all!”
