Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2322: Chapter 2315: Indecent Behavior

If someone sees this, it would be so embarrassing.

What you fear is exactly what happens.

The villagers were returning from the doctor in small groups, and when they passed by, they couldn’t help but cover their eyes upon seeing this scene.

”Oh my! PLA comrades, this is indecent!”

”In broad daylight, what are you doing? Even if you’re doing that, shouldn’t you find a place where no one’s around?”

Yan Huan’s face flushed red instantly, she simply wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Yue looked up and saw Yan Huan’s face as red as the fiery clouds at sunset. He rarely saw Yan Huan blush, but he couldn’t deny that this woman, like a wild cat, looked genuinely cute with a red face.

Yan Huan glanced up and caught Cheng Yue’s teasing look, she furrowed her brows and said in a low voice, ”Why are you looking at me? Explain it!”

Cheng Yue lightly coughed to clear his throat and said, ”Aunties, don’t cover your eyes! My comrade here was bitten by a snake, and I’m treating her wound. But I’m not sure if it’s a venomous snake, could you please take a look?”

The elderly women, upon hearing it was a snake bite, realized their misunderstanding, stopped covering their eyes, and hurried over to look.

”This wound doesn’t look like much! My husband was bitten by a venomous snake whilst gathering pigweed in the mountains, and the wound turned black quickly.”

”PLA comrade, don’t worry. There are no venomous snakes in our village! These snakes hibernated all winter and came out in spring to roam around. It’s common to get bitten sometimes. Did you notice if the snake had bright colors or a distinctive head?”

Cheng Yue described the snake’s appearance, and everyone shook their heads: ”No, that snake isn’t venomous, it’s a rat snake!”

”That’s good. Thank you, everyone.”

Relieved to hear it was non-venomous, Cheng Yue sucked the wound clean, then washed it with alcohol and bandaged Yan Huan’s wound.

”Alright. Can you stand up and walk a bit?”

Yan Huan slowly stood up, took a couple of steps, felt that her leg wasn’t numb or stiff and still had sensation, which reassured her: ”I’m much better.”

”That’s good. I’ll help you back.” Cheng Yue shouldered the medical kit and carefully supported Yan Huan as they slowly walked back.

Yan Huan’s pace was very slow, her walk was halting, and every step tugged painfully at the wound.

Cheng Yue slowed his pace to walk alongside her, the bright sunlight casting their shadows on the ground behind them.

”If only I could walk with you like this for a lifetime,” he suddenly said.

A lifetime?

Yan Huan silently thought that right now there was a chasm between them. Not to mention if they could even be together, just dealing with both families was enough to give a headache.

Seeing her silent, Cheng Yue suddenly stopped, looking earnestly at her and asked, ”Yan Huan, do I still have a chance?”

How was she supposed to answer that?

Seeing Cheng Yue’s burning gaze fixed on her, Yan Huan’s heart tightened, and she blurted out, ”Of course there’s no chance!”

”Hmm?” The light in Cheng Yue’s eyes dimmed more and more.

He never expected such a resolute answer from Yan Huan.

Seeing Cheng Yue’s face fall, Yan Huan didn’t know what she was thinking, and quickly added, ”I don’t want to be a cripple for a lifetime, unable to take care of myself!”
