Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2346: Chapter 2339: Ginger Sugar Water 2

This is the first step in the relationship between Yan Huan and Ji Chuan, her making ginger tea for Ji Chuan is reciprocated and beneficial in promoting emotional ties. An Hao understood this well and wouldn’t interfere.

Whether it turns out good or not, it’s Yan Huan’s intention.

Even if what’s in this bowl were arsenic, Ji Chuan would probably still find it sweet as honey.

An Hao went to chat with Xiao Shitou, leaving Yan Huan to battle alone by the stove.

Not exaggerating at all, this was the first time since she was born that she had entered the kitchen. Although it’s not cooking food, even this simple ginger tea took quite a bit of effort.

Usually, during her period, it was Comrade Lao Feng who cooked ginger tea for her.

In that sweet brown sugar water, tiny bits of ginger floated, drinking a steaming bowl of it would warm her whole body in no time.

She had never cut vegetables before, and the knife didn’t obey her commands.

Looking at what she cut, the ginger bits could hardly be called bits, they might as well be called chunks. She wondered if Ji Chuan would choke on them while drinking.

Yan Huan chopped the ginger, put it in water, and added brown sugar, then boiled it on high heat.

After a while, seeing the water stubbornly not boiling, she added a few more dry sticks to the stove. The ash from the stove flew out, causing Yan Huan to have a violent coughing fit.

Immediately after, her chest tightened, feeling as if something was stuck in her throat, making it hard to breathe. Yan Huan started gasping heavily.

She had another attack!

This wasn’t the first time Yan Huan had an attack.

Since arriving at Nanshan Village, she had lost count of how many times she’d had these attacks.

Every time she was walking on the road, suddenly a gust of wind would come, triggering a coughing fit, after which she would start gasping. Fortunately, she always carried medication with her.

When the gasping got severe, she would spray and take medicine, gradually calming it down.

In just this one month, if it lasted longer, she guessed she’d either cough herself to death or suffocate, or end up poisoned from taking too much medicine.

Her situation really was quite pitiful.

She clearly had an illness, but they just couldn’t find anything wrong.

Yan Huan took her medicine, and after a while her breathing calmed down. The ginger tea in the pot was ready, she filled up a kettle with it and carried it out of the kitchen.

Just then, An Hao, judging the time to be right, finished her talk with Little Potato and came out. Seeing Yan Huan carrying the kettle, with her nose and face smudged black with soot, she didn’t even notice herself and seriously called her over to leave.

An Hao couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

”What are you laughing at?” Yan Huan asked, puzzled.

”Nothing! I’m laughing at how long it took you to make a kettle of ginger tea.” An Hao held back her laughter, lying to Yan Huan.

”Couldn’t we just walk faster on the way?” Yan Huan opened her umbrella, ”Let’s go!”

An Hao repeatedly thanked Xiao Shitou’s grandmother before leaving with Yan Huan.

On the way, the two walked briskly through the water, quickly arriving at the campsite. It was still raining outside and there was no one around, so no one saw Yan Huan’s disheveled state.

When Yan Huan walked into the tent, only Ji Chuan was there.

It looked like he had already had breakfast, holding a mug of hot tea. His body was not as relaxed as usual, somewhat curled up, appearing to be cold.

”Ji Chuan, are you not feeling well?” Yan Huan asked.
