Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2343: Chapter 2336: Ji Chuan, Is It Worth It?

”It seems I was just being self-indulgent, assuming we have a special connection!” Ji Chuan laughed.

”Who has a special connection with you! Let’s go, we’ll talk in the tent!” Yan Huan shot him a glare and started to walk away, holding the umbrella.

”Let me!” Ji Chuan reached out to grasp the umbrella handle, and as Yan Huan withdrew her hand, she felt his icy cold hand, devoid of any warmth.

”Your hand is so cold! How long have you been standing in the rain?” she asked in surprise.

”About twenty minutes or so?” Ji Chuan thought for a moment, then shook his head, ”I don’t quite remember!”

Yan Huan was shocked and slightly apologetic, ”Why were you in such a hurry? Couldn’t you find a place to shelter from the rain first?”

Ji Chuan silently thought: my time is limited, I just wanted to see you sooner.

But he worried that saying this would put pressure on Yan Huan, so he brushed it off lightly with, ”Who knows how long this rain will last, best to keep moving instead of waiting for nothing!”

”You! Sometimes you’re just like my brother! I don’t know what goes on in both your heads. Why not buy an umbrella when the store in the village opens? No wonder you and my brother can be friends! It totally makes sense!” Yan Huan rambled on.

Ji Chuan chuckled softly.

”Wait a minute! So you came here now, meaning you took the train overnight?” Yan Huan suddenly stopped and asked.

”The 2 AM train!” Ji Chuan answered honestly.

Yan Huan’s heart suddenly trembled, she looked up at Ji Chuan, and after a moment, she asked, ”Ji Chuan, is it worth it?”

”What?”

”Am I... worth you doing this?”

”Worth it.” For the person he likes, he was willing to do so.

Yan Huan slowly lowered her head, pondering silently over her thoughts.

”Don’t feel any burden! I’m not just here to see you, I’m also a bit worried about Cheng Yue, and isn’t An Hao here as well? So I’m just checking on everyone. You know, coming here alone, calling from this poor mountain village means going to town... I brought some news from home for An Hao, and it’s also a bit of a sightseeing trip...”

”You...” Yan Huan couldn’t help but laugh, ”How do you come up with so many excuses so quickly? I don’t feel any burden. Come on, let’s walk faster! You’re soaked to the skin, and if we don’t hurry, you’ll definitely catch a cold!”

”Alright!” Ji Chuan nodded, quickening his pace to follow Yan Huan.

...............

Cheng Yue stretched lazily and got up from bed. As soon as he put on his clothes and before he could wash his face, he heard Yan Huan’s voice coming from outside the tent: ”Cheng Yue, are you awake?”

”Awake.” Cheng Yue hastily wiped his face haphazardly, using a towel to dry himself before quickly opening the tent, ”Huanhuan, why are you up so early...”

He was initially delighted that Yan Huan came looking for him so early, but when he saw Ji Chuan standing at the door, he was stunned for three seconds: ”Director Ji? Am I dreaming? How come you’re here?”

”Came to check on you guys! What? You don’t seem welcoming!” Ji Chuan looked at Cheng Yue with a smile.

”Of course—welcome! Director Ji, please come in, don’t get soaked in the rain!” Cheng Yue quickly plastered on a smile and invited Ji Chuan into the tent.

This Director Ji is truly a sly fox, obviously here to see Yan Huan, but insists he’s here to check on him.

”Cheng Yue, Director Ji is soaked, and you’re about the same height and weight. See if you can find some clothes for Director Ji to change into?”
