Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2316: Chapter 2309: This Is Fate

With a gesture from the village chief, the villagers began beating drums and setting off fireworks to welcome the arrival of the medical team.

Captain Zhang jumped off the vehicle, stepped forward to shake hands with the village chief, and said, ”Hello, we received orders from the higher-ups to come and provide medical assistance. Please, old chief, help us find a spacious place to set up camp! Once we are settled today, we can start treating people tomorrow.”

”Comrades of the PLA, why not stay in the villagers’ homes? It would be more convenient for meals, too!”

”Old chief, we have our rules and cannot trouble the villagers! We have cooks and can manage our meals ourselves!” Captain Zhang replied.

”Alright! Since you want to cook, you can go to the little river on the edge of the village. There’s a large meadow there, and it’s convenient for washing by the river!”

”Great. Please, old chief and villagers, lead the way!”

The village chief led the soldiers over, helping them set up tents and unload medical supplies from the vehicles, bustling about merrily.

Although it’s said to be a medical platoon, only about thirty people actually arrived in Hanshan Village, really just a platoon. Setting up tents was quick.

Yan Huan and Qiu Xinyi were assigned to the same tent.

The two were not on good terms, and sharing a tent didn’t improve that.

However, thinking they’d have to coexist for over thirty days, they both tried hard to restrain themselves and avoid conflict.

After tidying up, Yan Huan felt a bit hungry.

Upon arrival at noon, the cook squad hadn’t managed to prepare a meal, so they had some ready-cooked food and pickles stored from the morning, plus a large pot of hot water for everyone.

Yan Huan took her meal bowl to get food and saw a medical team in white coats waving a red flag approaching.

”Hey, veteran, may I ask, is there another aid team besides us?” She spontaneously grabbed someone to inquire.

”Yes. Officer Yan, can you see? Walking toward us is the team from the PLA Affiliated Hospital, they’ve also come! This mission will last for over half a year, first us, then others. Oh, and I heard the General Hospital of the Military District will be here next time.”

”Oh. Thanks!” Yan Huan continued walking with her lunchbox, suddenly remembering Cheng Yue saying goodbye to her yesterday afternoon, mentioning participation in medical aid.

Then, she hadn’t thought much of it.

Now, it seemed likely they both ended up in Hanshui Village.

Yan Huan instinctively looked through the crowd for Cheng Yue, and sure enough, he was marching with the team.

Cheng Yue moved forward with his group, glancing around and inadvertently spotted Yan Huan standing not far away, holding a lunchbox and gazing at him.

This truly was surprising!

Cheng Yue paused, then a smile gradually appeared at the corner of his mouth.

”Yan Huan!” Cheng Yue ran over, his face filled with delight, ”You are here too?”

”I came to do an interview report!” Yan Huan smiled faintly, ”I didn’t expect you to be here too!”

”It’s fate!” Cheng Yue said, smiling.

”Just a coincidence. I’ll go get food, see you later!” Yan Huan didn’t want to chat much with Cheng Yue, so she held her lunchbox and started to leave.

”Wait, I have something to give you,” Cheng Yue hurriedly said.

”No need. I’m not lacking anything here, whatever you have, keep for yourself.”

”No, it’s not from me. Ji Chuan, Director Ji, asked me to bring it to you.”

”Ji Chuan?” Yan Huan suddenly stopped in her tracks.
