Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2309: Chapter 2302: It’s So Unfair

”Dr. Cheng!”

”Director Ji?!”

The two men faced each other. Although neither revealed their intentions, both understood each other tacitly.

Clearly, they had the same goal.

This kid actually took leave to date Yan Huan! Ji Chuan thought silently, he really underestimated this young man.

”Waiting for someone?” Ji Chuan raised his eyebrow, asking knowingly.

”I’m waiting for Yan Huan!” Cheng Yue grinned and nodded at him, ”You too?”

”Yes. I’m here to take her home. Lady Feng invited me over for dinner tonight.” Ji Chuan smiled as he said this, looking expectantly at Cheng Yue’s expression.

Cheng Yue had never imagined his luck could be this bad.

He had just arrived in Nancheng for work a few days ago, and now he had to join a medical aid mission for over a month.

He’s not afraid of hardship in remote areas, but at this critical moment, if he leaves, wouldn’t it be giving Ji Chuan an excellent opportunity?

Moreover, this person is a very strong competitor.

He had endured four years in Jiangning, always longing to come back here for Yan Huan.

Fortunately, Yan Huan hadn’t married.

He must seize this chance to finally be with Yan Huan.

”I’m here to say goodbye to her. Director Ji, as you know, I’m leaving with the medical team tomorrow, so...” Cheng Yue spoke straightly.

”Understood.” Ji Chuan nodded slightly, ”What did Yan Huan say? Is she coming out?”

”She’s in a meeting. It might take a while!”

”Alright. I’ll wait with you then!”

.................................

Coming out of the regimental commander’s office, Yan Huan was fuming with anger.

Originally, she and Tan Xiaomei were supposed to go with the medical corps for an interview and report, but Qiu Xinyi had gone to the commander expressing her eagerness to venture into the mountains and report on the army’s contributions to the people.

To put it bluntly, she was stealing the credit.

Everyone knew, although the location to go this time was tough, the authorities highly valued this mission.

Not only the leaders of the military departments but also those at the provincial level cared greatly.

It’s indisputable that the unit going was the medical corps, but the choice of the accompanying news officer was flexible.

The commander let Yan Huan go also to give her a chance.

Furthermore, Yan Huan’s reports were indeed the best in the unit. If she continued to excel, being transferred to the headquarters to work was not impossible.

Since joining the army, everyone hoped to have a longer military career.

Yan Huan had the support of the old master behind her, offering some backing. Tan Xiaomei was different.

She was hoping to take this opportunity to shine, but before the mission even started, Qiu Xinyi had taken her spot.

She was the military chief of staff’s daughter.

Originally a dancer in the art troupe, but after injuring her leg in an onstage accident, she couldn’t dance anymore. With some education, she was also placed here as a news officer.

She had only been here for less than half a year but was always trying to stand out, secretly competing with Yan Huan.

”Yan Huan, we’re setting off on Monday. Please look after me on this trip!” Qiu Xinyi arrogantly said, like a proud peacock, gradually disappearing.

Tan Xiaomei felt very distressed upon hearing this; she lowered her head and wiped her tears: ”Sister Yan, I can’t go with you. You have to take care of yourself.”

Yan Huan clenched her fists tightly: ”Xiaomei, don’t cry! I will find the commander. This is too unfair! I’ll get justice for you!”
