Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2306: Chapter 2299: Mission 2

”I don’t know either.” Yan Huan was somewhat troubled, ”Let’s give it a try. It’s not like I’ll get sick every day! I’ve accepted the mission, I can’t just find an excuse to back out, can I?”

”But I’m worried about your health. When you’re sick, it’s really scary, and the place we’re going to lacks medicine and medical services, I’m worried...” Tan Xiaomei’s concerns weren’t unwarranted.

”It’s okay. Aren’t we going with the medical team?”

”But even the big hospitals can’t treat your illness properly, not to mention our small medical unit. If it’s a cold or a fever, that’s okay, minor surgeries are fine too, but if there’s a major issue, I suspect they’ll be helpless!”

”I’ll prepare some medicine in advance then! If I say I’m sick and can’t go, do you think the Commander will believe me? They’ll surely think I’m too delicate for hardship, unwilling to go to the poor village for interviews. That would make me the negative example for the whole team.” Yan Huan, though she was raised in the military district courtyard, was definitely not a delicate person.

Part of her ability to stay in the army was due to her father being the assistant commander of the military district.

But a larger part of it was because of her own efforts.

”Yan, it’s not that I’m saying this, but look, your father is an old leader of our military district. Just let the old commander call the team leader, and it’ll be fine. To be honest, I’m a kid who became a soldier coming out from a poor village. You haven’t experienced it, you don’t know how tough that environment is, it could make you cry just by looking! Why make it hard for yourself?” Tan Xiaomei advised.

”No way. Even if my dad is willing to speak, I won’t let him do it. It wouldn’t look good.”

”Why wouldn’t it look good? Your health isn’t good after all!”

”Who would believe it? My annual physical examination report always shows very healthy numbers! Who could you show it to and make them believe I’m a sick person?” Yan Huan finished packing, stood up with a smile, and patted Tan Xiaomei’s shoulder, ”Sis, I know you mean well for me. Don’t worry, I’ve got a handle on it!”

At least she had to go, and if she really got sick, she could come back later.

”Alright then.” Since Yan Huan insisted, what else could Tan Xiaomei say?

”Alright. I’m going to the hospital to get some medicine. We leave on Monday, need to prepare in advance.”

”Goodbye, Yan!”

Yan Huan had her own little scheme for going with the medical team to the grassroots.

This way, she could at least avoid Ji Chuan.

Although she had given Ji Chuan a chance in her heart, the thought of frequently going on dates with him in the future felt awkward.

Now it’s just right to stay in the village for a while, giving herself time, and letting her mind figure out what she really wants to do next!

........................

On Sunday, early morning, Ji Chuan received a call from Feng Yuzhi.

She invited him to come over for dinner that evening.

Ji Chuan understood that Feng Yuzhi was creating an opportunity for him and Yan Huan, so he readily accepted.

In the afternoon, he finished his surgery early, and after coming out of the operation, he checked the time and decided to go out to buy some things.

After all, this was his first official visit to the Yan Family, and he couldn’t forgo the proper etiquette.

Ji Chuan gave some instructions to the deputy director about the work in the department and then returned to his office to change clothes.

As he was just entering, Cheng Yue followed him in.
