Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 2314: Chapter 2307: I’m Embarrassed For You

Ji Chuan put down his chopsticks, a faint smile playing at the corner of his mouth as he looked at Yan Huan and said, “I’ve known Yan Huan for a long time. But I really like her personality! She’s straightforward, doesn’t play mind games, and doesn’t hide her feelings! She likes what she likes and doesn’t like what she doesn’t! Coincidentally, I’m also that kind of person! So, Auntie, don’t worry! A wife is meant to be cherished, just like my dad cherishes my mom! Coincidentally, I’ve inherited that gene too!”

“Did you coat your lips with honey?” Yan Huan listened to this, feeling all sorts of awkward.

“Even if I did, I’d be willing to coat them with honey for a lifetime for you!” Ji Chuan said with a smile.

“Hey, doesn’t your sweet talk make you embarrassed? I’m embarrassed for you!” Yan Huan touched her slightly flushed face, feeling extremely awkward.

Yet these words successfully pleased Feng Yuzhi and Yan Luquan, the two exchanged a glance and both showed a satisfied smile.

Lin Qiushu, who had been silently eating, saw the right moment and got up, pulling two movie tickets from her bag: “I have two movie tickets for tomorrow night. I intended to go with Yan Ye, but he has a class tomorrow night. I thought the movie looked good, so don’t let them go to waste—you two should go see it!”

“Thank you, Qiushu!” Ji Chuan quickly stood up to take the tickets and gave her a grateful smile, recognizing this as a great opportunity for their second date.

Upon hearing this, Yan Huan put down her chopsticks and said to Ji Chuan, “I can’t go tomorrow. I have a mission with the military; early tomorrow I need to go with the medical team to Hanshan Village to do a series of reports! I probably won’t be back for over a month.”

Ji Chuan was taken aback: “You’re going to Hanshan Village?”

“Yes.” Yan Huan nodded, “Probably for a bit more than a month.”

Ji Chuan suddenly felt like he had shot himself in the foot. He was hoping to spend more time with Yan Huan while Cheng Yue was away, but he didn’t expect Yan Huan to be leaving too.

If he had known this, he would have insisted on going himself.

“What? You’re leaving Nancheng?” Feng Yuzhi’s first reaction upon hearing this was concern for Yan Huan’s health, “Will you manage? With your health, it’s uncertain what might happen once you’re gone!”

“Mom, the commander personally told me about this and it wouldn’t be appropriate not to go. If I feel unwell, I’ll just come back!” Yan Huan reassured.

“If you become unwell, it could be serious! Don’t you know your own situation? Why are you so worrisome?” Feng Yuzhi expressed concern, “I’ll have your dad call your commander.”

“Mom, please don’t! I don’t want to rely on Dad’s authority for everything. I know my own health, I’ve packed my medication. Don’t worry, if I feel unwell at all, I’ll definitely return quickly.” Yan Huan had already decided.

“The kid’s right. Let her give it a try! A month shouldn’t lead to anything major!” Yan Luquan also didn’t approve of constantly interfering in military work with phone calls.

“Why didn’t you mention it sooner?” Feng Yuzhi’s mood soured.

“I was planning to tell you today! Mom, don’t worry. I’m not foolish—I’ll be careful and won’t put my life at risk!”

After this meal, it was getting late.

Ji Chuan sat for a while and prepared to leave.

As he was leaving, he asked Yan Huan if she could walk him part of the way.
