“What a truly marvelous thing…” With a sigh of admiration, Yu Zi Yu received the three 7-Petaled Golden Lotuses from Avril.

Just these three lotuses alone would surely make the entire Buddhist Sect’s heart bleed.

Though Yu Zi Yu did not know precisely what significance they bore for the Buddhist Sect, the fact that a 9-Petaled Golden Lotus of Merit could rival the defense of an ordinary Extreme Dao Imperial Artifact was enough to tell how precious these three must be.

However, just then, as he held the three Golden Lotuses in his palm, Yu Zi Yu suddenly froze.

“Golden Lotus… Golden Lotus…” Murmuring again and again, a dazzling light erupted from the depths of Yu Zi Yu’s eyes.

[Though the Golden Lotuses of Merit grew by absorbing Merit, aren’t they also Marvelous Flowers of Heaven and Earth!? In that case…] At this thought, Yu Zi Yu raised his right hand.

*Boooooom…* With a thunderous roar, a Five-Colored Spirit Flower, frozen within another dimension, appeared at Yu Zi Yu’s side.

“I hope… this may be of use to you.” Whispering softly, Yu Zi Yu began to skillfully extract the Quintessence of one 7-Petaled Golden Lotus, channeling it toward the Five-Colored Spirit Flower.

*Boooooom…* A sudden tremor rippled through the Void.

Looking closely, one would notice brilliant motes of golden light emerging from the Golden Lotus, flowing like a radiant river.

And with it, the petals of the Five-Colored Spirit Flower trembled continuously, as a faint yet powerful vitality erupted from it.

“As expected, it works… and not just a little bit…”

A soft chuckle escaped Yu Zi Yu, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. [I guess, this invasion wasn’t in vain.]

The revival of the Five-Colored Spirit Flower was of extreme importance to Yu Zi Yu. If he could successfully restore it, he would have no regrets in his heart.

However, what even Yu Zi Yu himself failed to notice was that, as the Five-Colored Spirit Flower absorbed the Quintessence of the Golden Lotus of Merit, a golden streak flickered upon its petals. It seemed as if it was undergoing evolution, metamorphosis. There was an inexplicable mystery to it.

Seeing that the Golden Lotus of Merit was indeed useful to the Five-Colored Spirit Flower, Yu Zi Yu refrained from channeling too much Quintessence.

Too much was as bad as too little. So, bit by bit, he let it flow, allowing the Five-Colored Spirit Flower to better absorb.

Moreover, these Golden Lotuses of Merit warranted further study.

Such supreme treasures were beyond rare.

“The Lotuses of Merit grow by absorbing Merit… and Merit, if I’m not wrong, is another form of the power of the Human Dao. As the saying goes, ‘do good deeds, and accumulate Merit’. It is the same principle. To raise these Lotuses of Merit to higher level, the Buddhists must have poured untold effort into it…”

Hearing Yu Zi Yu’s musing, Avril smiled and added. “Reporting to Boss… the power of Merit that the Buddhists revere is quite similar to the Faith cultivated by our Angel Clan. But, compared to us, the Buddhist Sect’s mastery of Merit has reached the apex. Not only can it be used for cultivation, it can even nurture peerless treasures such as the Lotuses of Merit.”

“Indeed.” Yu Zi Yu also nodded his acknowledgement.

However, right then, a voice suddenly rang in Yu Zi Yu’s ear, “Do you know the true origin of these Lotuses of Merit?”

The sudden question caught Yu Zi Yu by surprise.

[The origin of the Lotuses of Merit!?] Pondering for a moment, Yu Zi Yu still had no definitive answer.

Though there were records in legend, their authenticity could never be verified.

With that thought, Yu Zi Yu asked directly, “Anzuiel, I’d appreciate it if you can tell me more.”

“You…” A soft chuckle echoed, as the phantom of a childlike figure appeared not far from Yu Zi Yu.

Then, gazing at the three 7-Petaled Golden Lotuses of Merit resting in Yu Zi Yu’s palm, the Spirit of the Sixteen Holy Wings spoke in a solemn voice, “You do realize, this time you’ve forged an irreconcilable feud with the Buddhist Sect…”

“That serious?” Startled for a moment, Yu Zi Yu’s eyes flickered with surprise.

“Haha… if these three 7-Petaled Lotuses of Merit were allowed to fully mature, they could give rise to three Buddhist Hegemons. Do you now understand the enmity between you two now?”

“Hmm…” A heavy silence followed, and Yu Zi Yu couldn’t help but have the corner of his eyes twitch.

[That’s kind of terrifying!] For some reason, Yu Zi Yu felt the weight of the three lotuses in his hand grow heavier.

However, after a moment, shaking his head, Yu Zi Yu let out a laugh. “In any case, we and the Buddhist Sect have long since become enemies. A few more grudges hardly matter… Besides, it was the Void Hegemon who stole them, not me…”

*Tsk…* Clicking his tongue, Anzuiel looked at Yu Zi Yu with an amused expression before continuing, “You should know of the Primordial Imperial Artifact, the Eastern Emperor Bell. Born within chaos itself, it is among the most terrifying of weapons. Yet before it was known as the Eastern Emperor Bell, it bore another name, the Bell of Chaos.”

“And besides the Bell of Chaos, in that Primordial Era, when Heaven and Earth first came into existence, a few other treasures, no less magnificent than the Bell of Chaos, were born. One of them was the Primal Chaos Blue Lotus. Unfortunately, the Primal Chaos Blue Lotus could not be tolerated by Heaven and Earth. At the moment of its birth, it shattered, dividing into five seeds…”

“These five seeds… one, nurtured by the Earth’s Primordial Essence, became the 36-Petaled Blue Lotus of Creation. One fell into the Pool of Eight Virtues, and became the 12-Petaled Golden Lotus of Merit. One sank into the Blood Sea, and became the 12-Petaled Karmic Fire Red Lotus. One plunged into the Abyss of Darkness, becoming the 12-Petaled World-Destroying Black Lotus. As for the last seed, its resting place is unknown, but it transformed into the 12-Petaled World-Purifying White Lotus.”

“That is why… the Golden Lotuses of Merits in your hand are no ordinary things. If they can rise from 7-petaled to 12-petaled Golden Lotuses of Merit, they would become an incomparably dreadful Imperial Artifact. Of course, such a feat is unimaginably difficult. The Buddhist Sect has strived for dozens of eras, yet has managed it only three times. As for you. Well, let’s just say the chances are even slimmer. Incidentally, the treasure I once mentioned, capable of cleansing karmic sin, was none other than the Karmic Fire Red Lotus, another of the Divine Lotuses of the same lineage as these Golden Lotuses…”

Silently listening, Yu Zi Yu fell into rare contemplation.

[The Primal Chaos Blue Lotus, a Primordial Imperial Artifact that’s on par with the Eastern Emperor Bell!? Then, it split into five, giving birth to five supreme treasures able to rival Imperial Artifacts?]

“Its origin is far more terrifying than I imagined… even tied to the Primordial Imperial Artifact…” With a long sigh, Yu Zi Yu curiously studied the three golden lotuses in his hand.

And the more he observed, the more astonished he became.

Though merely 7-petaled, each lotus seemed to conceal unfathomable mysteries. So deep that even he could not fully discern them.

Most of all, there was an ineffable aura flowing from them… one that quieted his very heart.
