The fact that he was able to find Yu Zi Yu’s Void Elf Form spoke volumes of Zi Lian’s prowess.

As an assassin. No, as an assassin of the highest grade, Zi Lian’s instincts went far beyond what most could imagine.

No, calling it ‘sharp instincts’ no longer did it justice.

It was something more, something bordering on legendary sixth sense, perhaps even seventh.

Only with such a level of perception could Zi Lian barely withstand the assault of Shadow of Spacetime.

And even then, just barely.

If Yu Zi Yu had unleashed the full might of the Void Elf Form, it was likely that Zi Lian would’ve fallen with the very first blow, his body left lifeless on the ground.

That alone was enough to illustrate how truly terrifying Shadow of Spacetime was.

In a sense, this ability was a perfect fit for Spacetime.

The corners of Yu Zi Yu’s lips couldn’t help but curl upward in a subtle smile of satisfaction as he slowly retracted the Shadow of Spacetime.

Then, turning toward Zi Lian, whose face still bore a mix of confusion and awe, Yu Zi Yu offered a calm explanation, “This is merely a rudimentary application of the Principle. The fact that you managed to hold your ground at all is already impressive.”

“Thank you, Master… for showing mercy.”

Gratefulness filled Zi Lian’s voice, he knew his own limits clearly.

If his Master had not held back, there was no way he’d still be standing, let alone unharmed.

“Hahaha, I already said it was just a test,” Yu Zi Yu laughed softly, shaking his head.

Zi Lian was good at many things, but he could be a bit slow.

To put it bluntly, he was a little too straightforward.

Still, Yu Zi Yu didn’t mind.

In fact, such simplicity suited him.

After all, as the sharpest blade in Yu Zi Yu’s command, Zi Lian’s straightforwardness only made him more reliable.

…

Then, as if remembering something, Yu Zi Yu spoke again, “In the coming days, I want you all to take some time to consolidate yourselves…”

“Master, are you… planning something?” Zi Lian asked, surprised.

“I’m heading back to the Demon Court,” Yu Zi Yu replied, “It’s been far too long. If I don’t show my face soon, those little ones might forget what I even look like.”

A soft smile tugged at his lips, and a flicker of warm anticipation surfaced in his eyes.

[It’s been a century or two, I wonder how those little ones are doing.

There probably wouldn’t be any major problems. At the very least, I haven’t received any troubling reports.

And not long ago, I’ve also sent Nine Tails and Ling Er back to the Demon Court. Surely… everything should be under control.]

…

Or so Yu Zi Yu thought. What he didn’t know was that the Demon Court hadn’t been peaceful lately.

“Reporting to Lady Nine Tails… the Arhat of the Buddhist Sect has once again requested an audience with the Divine Tree…” A voice suddenly rang through the grand hall of the Demon Court.

Looking toward the source, one would see a messenger standing with a helpless expression.

For over half a month now, a mysterious figure from the enigmatic Buddhist Sect, an Arhat calling himself ‘Dragon Tamer,’ had been requesting an audience with the Divine Tree.

However, the Divine Tree had left the Demon Court for over a century, so how could he be summoned on a whim?

“Hmph…” A cold snort cut through the air, as Nine Tails, appearing as a stunning, otherworldly beauty narrowed her eyes.

“They want Master to act against the Void? What a well-calculated plan,” her voice carried a soft grumble, laced with a touch of disdain.

“Not like they have a choice,” said Ling Er, draped in silken veils, reclining lazily upon a throne. “Right now, in the entire cosmos… it seems only our Master, the Strongest Under the Heavens, has the power to stand against that mysterious Hegemon of the Void.”

“That’s true,” Nine Tails nodded, acknowledging the point.

[Master, only he is the only one I acknowledge as the strongest being in the entire cosmos.

As for asking him to emerge from his seclusion, just to confront that mysterious Void Hegemon? That’s simply a fool’s dream.

Do they truly take our Demon Court for idiots? Do they think we’d allow ourselves to be used as someone else’s pawn?

However, just then, a nearby crimson-haired young man intervened, “To be honest… this matter is not so simple to handle.”

“Oh? And why is that?”

With that one question, every gaze in the hall shifted toward the speaker.

The crimson-haired young man was none other than the Second Prince of the Demon Court, Yu Zi Yu’s Second Disciple, the one who had governed the Demon Court for over a century, until stepping down after the return of Nine Tails and Ling Er.

However, that hadn’t diminished his standing in the slightest.

Below one, and above all others, that was who he was.

Even Nine Tails and Ling Er herself would lend an ear when he spoke, because this Second Disciple of their Master had never once failed to meet their expectations. He had grown in both strength and temperament in the truest sense.

And now, in response to Nine Tails’ question, the crimson-haired youth, Bosun, fell briefly into thought, then answered, “Master has been absent for over a century. Most major Forces have long since become suspicious. Now, with the Void Clan stirring again, and a Void Hegemon emerging on top of that… All the Myriad Races have turned their gaze toward the Demon Court. Simply because, in their eyes, only Master holds the power to confront that mysterious Void Hegemon… But… if I’m being honest, confronting the Void Hegemon might not even be their real goal. What they truly seek is confirmation of Master’s current state.”

A quiet hush swept through the hall, as a solemn look blanketed everyone’s face.

It was indeed as he had said: Facing the Void Hegemon may well be a pretext.

After all, with ancient relics like the Imperial Artifact still in play, even a Void Hegemon would have to tread carefully in the universe, lest he suffer a devastating blow.

So their deeper motive became painfully clear: They want to draw out the Demon Emperor.

Only then can they confirm his present condition.

So long as the Demon Emperor hadn’t made an appearance, he would remain as a looming threat to the hearts of all the Myriad Races.

After all, no one knew how far the Demon Emperor’s cultivation had ascended?

While there was no denying that the Void Hegemon may be a threat to all, the Demon Emperor, who had always stood a step ahead of them, was just as much a threat, if not more.

So if the turmoil of the Void could be used as a spark to bring both great threats into conflict, then the Myriad Races might just gain the breathing room they need to grow.

Or better yet, while the two were fighting with each other, they could reap the reward.
