“Compared to the Sutra Hall… we believe your Buddhist Sect cares more about exorcising evil and upholding the Dao, no?” Yu Zi Yu asked with a voice laced with amusement, a shadow of a smile hung on his lips, watching the Dragon Tamer’s reaction.

“T-this… of course…” After a brief pause, the Dragon Tamer Arhat admitted it.

Indeed, compared to certain inheritances, slaying and vanquishing evil was more important…

Only, that was merely his own opinion. Some of those old monks in high positions would never agree to this request.

*Haaaa…* The young arhat could not help but sigh in his heart, understanding Yu Zi Yu’s meaning.

Then he frankly stated, “Lord Demon Emperor, I’ll need to return and discuss this with everyone…”

“It’s fine.” Yu Zi Yu simply waved it off in response, seemingly unconcerned about it.

Although he truly was interested in the Buddhist Sutra Hall, this was more of a polite refusal.

If he were to agree on the first request, it would hardly be fitting for the Supreme Lord of the Demon Court.

Moreover, the Buddhist Sect was asking him to take action against his other identity, the all-surpassing King of the Void.

That was something that required long-term planning.

If he played his cards right, he might just be able to manipulate the Myriad Races of the starry sky, and even the Buddhist Sect, into the palm of his hand.

Smiling to himself, Yu Zi Yu was filled with anticipation.

At that moment, seeing the Dragon Tamer Arhat already taking his leave, Yu Zi Yu glanced at Golden Monkey not far away and stated, “Golden Monkey, go see him off.”

“Yes, Lord Demon Emperor.”

Accepting the command, Golden Monkey turned and walked toward the Arhat.

…

Only after the Dragon Tamer Arhat had left did Nine Tails step forward and ask in a concerned voice, “Master… if you do this, won’t the Myriad Races say you’re… taking advantage of others in their time of need?”

“And if they say so, what of it?” Yu Zi Yu just lightly chuckle, totally unbothered by this.

Then, shifting the topic, he explained, “Nine Tails… remember this, in the universe, if you want to survive well, things like ‘saving face’ don’t matter. The only thing that truly matters… is interest. And this time, my refusal was meant to test the Buddhist Sect’s resolve in vanquishing evil. If they’re willing to grant me even their inheritance just to have me deal with the Hegemon in the Void, then why shouldn’t I act?” Explained Yu Zi Yu, starting his usual teaching.

However, this time, it wasn’t about cultivation, but about how to conduct oneself.

In his opinion, when it comes to prestige, one must be shameless and thick-skinned. He found the act of throwing away one’s life to protect some so-called ‘honor’ to be utter foolishness.

He disliked such people. And at the very least, he did not want to see Nine Tails, White Tiger, and the others risk their lives to defend his reputation.

That, above all, was the reason behind Yu Zi Yu’s lesson.

Yu Zi Yu truly led by example, even if he had staked his own reputation.

And at this moment, as they listened to Yu Zi Yu’s words, the faces of many figures shifted ever so slightly.

With their intelligence, they naturally caught the hidden meaning behind his remarks.

While everyone was etching this lesson into their memories, Ling Er stepped forward and replied, “We will remember…”

And with her words…

“We will remember Lord Demon Emperor’s teachings…”

“We will remember Lord Demon Emperor’s teachings…”

One after another, everyone’s voice echoed in unison, their expressions filled with respect.

“Good, as long as you remember… In this world, staying alive is what matters. Don’t ever throw your life away for something as trivial as pride or prestige.”

With that reminder, Yu Zi Yu moved on to receive the next envoy from the Myriad Races.

As he met one envoy after another, the Races got the rare chance to see Yu Zi Yu up close.

However, to their surprise, the Demon Emperor they saw seemed a bit different from the one described in rumors.

“So this is the Demon Emperor… why does he seem a bit like a common street merchant… fighting over even the smallest profit.” The corner of the Three-Eyes Clan Envoy’s mouth twitched slightly, his expression turning odd.

He came to negotiate over the mining rights for the resources of a galaxy.  He had thought that a grand, awe-inspiring Demon Emperor would never care about such a trivial region. But instead, in front of all these gathered powerhouses, Yu Zi Yu demanded a so-called ‘mining tax’ and even, a fifty-fifty split of the resources.

“Uh…” The Three-Eyes Clan Envoy’s expression grew stranger still, and he could not help but shake his head.

It was not just him, even envoys of other Races wore equally peculiar looks.

The Demon Emperor was not what they had imagined.

The rumors spoke of the Demon Emperor as a figure of overwhelming might, ruling the world with unmatched dominance, and exuding a certain indescribable majesty and terror.

However, when they met the Demon Emperor in real life, especially when it came to matters of profit… it was as if he became a different person entirely. He was sharp and calculating, almost like a merchant driven purely by profit.

However, just as the envoys were still marveling at this, the grand hall of the Demon Palace fell into a deathly silence, for the one arriving now was none other than the Ruler of the Angel Clan, Seraphim.

As an old acquaintance of the Demon Court, the fact that he came under the title of envoy drew the attention of many of the court’s powerhouses.

However, to everyone’s surprise, after entering the hall, Seraphim remained completely silent. He did not speak a single word.

He simply fixed his gaze, unblinking, on the figure seated upon the throne.

At that moment, as if sensing something, Yu Zi Yu waved his hand and ordered, “You all may leave.”

“Yes, Lord Demon Emperor,” everyone in the hall replied in unison before withdrawing.

Only Yu Zi Yu and Seraphim remained, their eyes locked upon one another.

“Seraphim greets Lord Demon Emperor…” Seraphim greeted at last, his voice carrying a rare respect.

“En” Yu Zi Yu gave a slight nod, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.

He could tell that Seraphim’s visit was anything but simple, for he could see doubt, confusion, and even a trace of fear buried deep within Seraphim’s eyes.

This piqued his curiosity.

[Could it be… this fellow has learned something…?] Yu Zi Yu was suspicious, but he could not be certain.

And then…

*Hooooo…* Seraphim took a deep breath. His expression grew solemn, as he asked in a tone both earnest and faintly uneasy, “Lord Demon Emperor…may I ask… what is your relationship with my race’s Fifth Angel King, Lord Alarion?”
