Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1397: Chapter 1398: This Spendthrift Woman

After a couple of days, the industries Cheng Su was involved with started to prepare for the holiday to celebrate the New Year, and the annual salaries and bonuses were distributed early. In addition, various festive amounts were given as part of the employee holiday benefits.

Cheng Su was sleepy due to her pregnancy, and with the cold weather during the New Year holidays, she didn’t go out. Any matters were discussed over the phone at home. In her free time, she either played with Xiao Yun, taught her English, or slept, which was much more comfortable than being with Mother Qi alone.

Qi Taiguo also called home twice, mostly talking to Cheng Su, which made Mother Qi quite envious. She wanted to retort, but seeing Cheng Su’s hand gently stroking her belly made her stop immediately.

For the sake of the grandson, endure it, everything was for the grandson!

Mother Qi never expected that Cheng Su would have such a big reaction to investing in Qi Fenglian, yet didn’t even blink when buying a TV for the home.

Looking at the brand-new TV, Mother Qi was both trembling and excited, asking the installer nervously, ”How much does this cost?”

”You can buy a black-and-white one for four to five hundred yuan, but this color one costs over a thousand yuan,” the installer said with a smile.

Mother Qi staggered, her gaze quickly darting towards Cheng Su.

She hesitated to invest in a bun shop for her elder sister-in-law, saying all sorts of unpleasant things, but when it came to buying a TV for over a thousand yuan, she was quite willing!

Mother Qi’s heart ached, as if someone was cutting it with a knife.

Such extravagance, it’s really too extravagant!

”Suddenly buying a TV like this, and it’s so expensive,” Mother Qi finally couldn’t hold it in and pulled Cheng Su aside to say through gritted teeth.

”To watch, of course. The black-and-white one doesn’t have color, what’s there to see? If I’m buying one, might as well get a good one and get it done in one go. It’s pleasing to watch,” Cheng Su shrugged. ”It’s New Year, and when Dad and everyone come over, we can’t just be staring at each other without any entertainment, right? Watching TV during New Year, watching a variety show, it’s quite nice!”

Mother Qi said, ”But you don’t need to buy such an expensive one. If you want one, just get a black-and-white one. Why buy such an expensive one? Do you think money isn’t money? Once this child is born, money will be needed everywhere, haven’t you thought about that?”

”Mom, if I buy it, of course I have a plan. Money is earned to be spent, otherwise what for? Just to harbor moths?” Cheng Su said.

”But you refuse to invest in your elder sister-in-law?” Mother Qi glared. ”This amount of money could open not one, but two bun shops!”

Cheng Su sneered, ”Investment could fail, could amount to nothing. But buying something means you get a tangible item in exchange. One is a gamble, the other a concrete transaction, how can those be compared? It’s also a matter of principle.”

”You...” Mother Qi wanted to argue further.

”Wow, it’s on, it’s on!” Xiao Yun suddenly clapped her hands and exclaimed excitedly.

Everyone looked over and saw that under the installer’s adjustments, a colorful image appeared on the TV screen, accompanied by a voice: ”Little Sister Lin...”

Cheng Su glanced over, well, they’re showing Dream of the Red Chamber.

”It’s really beautiful, Auntie. This person is really beautiful,” Xiao Yun said.

”This is Dream of the Red Chamber. I’ll find the book for you to read later. It’s a classic,” Cheng Su took the opportunity to tell Xiao Yun.

Xiao Yun nodded repeatedly.

Mother Qi wanted to say something, but she was captivated by the colorful images on the TV. Wow, this is what color looks like, so much better than the village head’s dull, gray TV a thousand times over!

But considering the price, her heart ached again. Over a thousand yuan just for such a valuable item, this spendthrift woman!
