Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1364: Chapter 1365: I Can’t

Isn’t it better to change one’s way of living?

Cheng Su felt a pang in her nose, her eyes turned red; this was the first time anyone had ever said this to her.

Change her way of living — how did she live before? Cautiously, timorously, always hoping someone would adopt her when she was a child; she wouldn’t dare to be disobedient or willful, because she feared even the orphanage might abandon her, leaving her with nowhere to stay.

Later, she grew up, went to school, boarded there. Her classmates all had complete families. During holidays, they went home and had pocket money. As for her, although the director assured her she need not worry about tuition, she never allowed herself to relax, opting to take summer jobs during holidays to earn spending money.

In university, it was the same. She took two tutoring jobs, did odd jobs, earned her own living expenses, never relaxed!

At that time, life was truly tiring; but there was no choice, she had only herself to rely on.

Qi Taiguo said she lacked a sense of security. It was probably because of this, she studied desperately, worked hard to earn money, continuously striving to prove that even alone, relying on herself, she could still live well!

But never had anyone suggested she live differently.

What would it be like to live differently?

Like being adopted by a rich family, growing up carefree, being pampered like a princess?

Cheng Su had never thought about it, didn’t dare to think about it.

Her tears fell, landing on Little Cheng Su’s hand. Seeing her cry, the child started crying too.

The crying snapped Cheng Su back to reality. She quickly placed the child next to Qi Taiguo and walked out of the nursery. Behind her, the child’s cries grew louder!

Leaning against the wall outside, Cheng Su looked down at her toes. The director came over, seeing her standing there crying, he hesitated for a moment, then gently asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Looking up, it was the concerned eyes of the director. Just like in the past life, when she was sad and hiding to cry, he would look at her like this and gently ask, ”What’s wrong? Don’t be afraid, the director is here!”

”Director!” Cheng Su rushed over, resting her head on his slender shoulder, weeping.

The director seemed a bit surprised, hesitated, then gently patted her shoulder. ”Don’t be afraid, the director is here!”

Unexpectedly, Cheng Su cried even harder.

Qi Taiguo, carrying the sobbing Little Cheng Su, came out and, seeing this scene, pursed his lips and then retreated.

After a long while, Cheng Su finally calmed her emotions, wiped away her tears, and said, ”Director, I’m sorry!”

”It’s okay!” The director’s eyes were gentle, tentatively asking, ”Is it because of Little Cheng Su? Actually, if you are willing, you can adopt her. I think the child and you have a connection.”

Cheng Su shook her head, ”Director, I can’t, I can’t!”

Why she couldn’t, she couldn’t articulate, perhaps because it was her childhood self she couldn’t face?

Or perhaps because she had her own predetermined destiny!

Cheng Su knew that if she adopted Little Cheng Su, then her destiny would surely change; different living conditions, different upbringing, hence she would become someone else.

And if she becomes someone else, then what about herself, should she still exist?

To put it bluntly, saying she couldn’t might be due to her selfishness and cowardice.

Or maybe, despite ’herself’ having the chance to change destiny, she disrupted it with her own hands, is it because of this that in the end, the path forward would always be walked alone?

Cheng Su was confused.
