Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1389: Chapter 1390: Don’t Walk So Fast

Cheng Su exchanged a bag of sausages for a piece of cured meat. That night, she ate happily while Qi Taiguo watched with joy, almost putting the whole plate of meat into Cheng Su’s bowl.

But Mother Qi was quite distressed.

Such extravagance! Giving a return gift shouldn’t be done like this!

Once Cheng Su went to take a bath, she couldn’t help but complain to Qi Taiguo: ”...Your wife is overly generous. They gave us meat; a simple cake or some fruit would have been sufficient in return. But giving such a big bag of sausages? People might think she’s a fool! Extravagant, far too extravagant!”

Qi Taiguo replied, ”Mom, when it comes to social exchanges, she knows the limits. Just let her be. We rarely eat those sausages anyway, so giving them away is fine. Look, she ate such a big bowl tonight, isn’t that good?”

Mother Qi snorted.

Qi Taiguo continued, ”I’m going to the festival preparedness tomorrow. Mom, please help take care of her at home. Don’t argue with her too much; go along with her, alright?”

Mother Qi scoffed, ”Forgot your mother now that you have a wife, huh? A mother-in-law going along with her daughter-in-law, ridiculous!”

Qi Taiguo awkwardly resorted to his usual tactic: ”Isn’t this all for the sake of the child?”

Mother Qi was just about to say something when Cheng Su came out of the bathroom, making her close her mouth.

She held back!

With six days left until the New Year, Qi Taiguo was about to head out for festival preparedness. Surprisingly, Cheng Su felt reluctant, hugging him with tears in her eyes and refusing to let go.

”Guessing there’s a big cabbage inside, she loves to cry!” Qi Taiguo pointed at her belly and laughed.

Cheng Su was amused by his remark and pushed him, ”What big cabbage?”

”Then it’s a little pig?”

”Go away!” Cheng Su glared at him and reminded, ”Even though you’re just going for festival preparedness, be careful. The baby and I will be waiting for you to come back!”

”Okay!” Qi Taiguo kissed her, saying, ”You take care too, I’ll be back soon.”

Seeing Qi Taiguo off, Cheng Su took her bag and headed out, catching Mother Qi’s attention, ”Where are you off to now?”

”Mom, I haven’t been to the factory for a few days. Since vacation’s coming, I’m going to take a look. You just rest at home!” Cheng Su said, ”I’ll swing by the restaurant too later.”

”Aren’t there people looking after things already? Why go there? It’s crowded, and it’s icy outside. What if you fall? Better not go!” Mother Qi disapproved.

”I’ll be careful!” Seeing her displeasure, Cheng Su hurried off.

Mother Qi ran a few steps, but Cheng Su was already out of sight. She could only watch from the kitchen window, shouting as Cheng Su exited the building, ”Cheng Su, don’t walk so fast, take care of my grandchild!”

Cheng Su’s face turned slightly dark, waved her hand, and quickly left.

”That woman just can’t stay put at home?” Mother Qi murmured as she walked out of the kitchen.

”Mother-in-law, I could hear your advice from afar,” Guiying said with a smile as she held her child on the way to the bathroom.

Mother Qi’s shouting just now was truly overwhelming.

Mother Qi replied, ”I tell you, women like you are good, staying at home obediently taking care of the family. Look, you’ve raised Cancan so strong.”

Guiying smiled, ”How can I compare with Sister-in-law Qi? She’s a college graduate and can earn money. Here in our compound, she stands out. You’re truly blessed, with a son as deputy battalion commander and a daughter-in-law who earns a lot of money.”

Mother Qi felt pleased but said, ”In the past, I didn’t care. Now with a child coming, of course, the child is important!”

Guiying sighed silently; people’s hearts are never satisfied, and one can’t have it all. Hearing her son calling, she quickly took him to the bathroom.
